When I got the approval letter I was expecting to wait 6 months.. I thought to myself that it would probably be around Christmas time. Then I got the next letter and I thought it was going to tell me they have changed their mind ?. I couldn't believe it that it was for my ceremony. I am very luck that my whole process was so quick in comparison to others.
I also got an email today to say that I had been added to the electoral role. It still won't feel official until I get the certificate, but it is all real ?

Holy mother of God Bessiedoll - thats quick! Congrats
I know right ??The longest part of the process was waiting for the approval after the test because I had to send more information to them.

I thought you get certificate on the same day. Maybe yours is delayed due to Election month and minister's unavailability ??
Yeah that's what they said it was. Because they didn't get signed in time. I'm just worried because my postman has been known to try and deliver letters and parcels to the wrong address quite often and if I don't get the card I won't know it's at the post office.

Hi guys. I attended my citizenship ceremony on July 23rd. We were told that the certificates were not available on the day and that they would be posted out registered mail. Anyone have any ideas how long it normally takes to receive it?

I called council and they said best to stick to 2. I'm happy to only take 2. I was more asking because my in laws want to all come, but I told them they can't.

Hi guys. I have my ceremony on saturday and it states on the letter that I can only have 2 guests with me. Are they strict on this or is there a chance I could have more than 2 guests?

Hi Guys
After i passed my test i was sent an "Invitation to comment on adverse information" because i have some criminal convictions from around 10 years ago ( the maximum punishment i received was a fine). I have complied with the request on the letter, provided character references and my own stat dec to state what happened and why i have a record, and how i am now of good character. I sent the letter express post yesterday and it has been received today according to the tracking number. Does anyone have any idea what happens next? and how long it will take

Oh no! That sounds really frustrating. Do you have to choose someone from a list of professions like the form 1195? Might have to post it to someone you know and do it that way. I had a similar problem of filling out form 1195 as I just moved from Canberra to Townsville (my husband is defence) and I hardly know anyone up here. Immigration didn't seem to care and asked me to go the long way about. So I had to post the photo down to a friend in Canberra and she had to post it back up.
It has to be someone that knows me and knows about my past convictions, but who is not family. It's a total pain because I don't know many people other than my husbands family and I guess they would class them as my family. I also don't make a habit of telling people I work with that I have a criminal record so I'm stuck that way too!! I have a couple of friends but again, I don't really like to talk about my past mistakes. Just makes me wonder if it is even worth all the trouble.

It was the letter from immigration requesting the character references. I am now in a bit if a tizz about who I can get to do this. There are very few people who I know in australia know about my convictions, it's not something I start a conversation with when I meet someone for the first time. It was a long time ago so I hardly ever think about it myself.. I though I would just need to pass the test and that would be it. I hate having to go through all of this again. I would have thought given that my visas have all been approved this wouldn't be an issue. I'm very frustrated right now.

When I did my test, I was told by the immigration lady that she would send out a letter requesting character references because I have spent criminal convictions in uk from 12 years ago. I have received a card today to say that the postman was unable to deliver a letter and I need to get it from the post office tomorrow. Is it likely that it's the letter from immigration? It's only been a week since I did the test, that seems very quick?

I just did the call back thing. Use a mobile
i didn't get the option for that
anyway, good news, they have moved my appointment forward to this Saturday
-
Wish we all knew the answer to that! Guessing the Melb office is just swamped. Does the email invite for the test actually show up in your ImmiAccount's application mailbox?
no it doesnt actually, i just got it on an email.
-
It's possible to move it forward. I had to call 3x, but eventually someone managed to move it for me.
i have so far been on hold for 1 hour 45 minutes and i am, now 7th in the queue from 72nd!!!
-
Yep I believe you can move that date if you give them a call on that number. Must say you did manage to get a test date pretty quickly( us folks in Victoria are having to wait ages )
I wonder why it is taking so long for you?

Hi Guys
I submitted my application on Sunday, received an email today to say that my appointment and test is on 14th July. Is it possible to get the date moved forward? or do i have to just stick with that date? if it is possible, do i just ring immigration ( 131 881) or is there another number that i need to call?
