  1. Hello, Myself and my spouse have been granted 190 VISA and would be flying in April next year. Now, I wish to have a visa for my mother. I am the only child of my mother. I had not declared her in my VISA application since she is NOT dependent on me. I understand that a permanent (or contributory) visa will be costlier. For now, I would like to go for a tourist or any other VISA which would allow her a maximum stay in Australia. FYI, she would touch 60 next year and will retire from her job too. Please suggest which would be the best option for me. Regards.
  2. Many thanks Maggie, this certainly helps me out. I will plan things accordingly. Regards.
  3. Many thanks Maggie for the super informative reply. Is there any format you or HRs prefer ? I might be being overcautious but do not want to take chances . Regards.
  4. Hi Parleycross, Yes, that's the normal trend. Since, I would be new to Australia and I do have local references (ex colleagues) who are settled there, I guess listing out their names would benefit me. Am I thinking the right way ? Regards.
  5. Dear All, I am interested to know few basic things to how and who to include in our list of references in the resume, keeping in mind of Australian job market. I have few doubts. I might sound like an idiot to you but I do not want to take any chances  and want to be well equipped before starting the job hunt. - How many references should we include ? Are two sufficient ? - Can a person who knows us but has not worked with us be our referee ? - Will it be effective to have a US customer our referee ? - Should we give personal email ID or work email ID ? - Should we give work phone or mobile phone ? Lastly, is there any format for putting references in our resume (as per the likings of the Aussies). Regards.
  6. Dear All, I have to move to NSW in search of job in IT market. I have 7+ years of exp. as a Unix System Admin plus Cloud Computing and some VMware as well. I would be resigning in my current organization in December and have a 3 months notice period, so would be free by April first week. Now, one of my peer's friend in Melbourne told me that the job market is not so good in April, May and June due to financial year closing and has advised me to come in 1st week of July while the other one is saying don't wait unnecessarily and come in April itself. I am very confused. Please help me out. Thanks in advance. Regards.
  7. Hello All, I think I would go for NAB Classic Account with a linked NAB iSaver Account as on both of these accounts, there are no monthly charges. Also, they seem to have a good presence in Sydney region (where I intend to live). I have sent an inquiry to nab.migrant.banking@nab.com.au / migrant.banking@nab.com.au, will confirm once I get a response from them. Regards.
  8. Please upload the papers somewhere (may be dropbox) and share the link. Thanks.
  9. Dear All, I am visiting NSW next month. I am looking to open an Australian bank account, so that I can transfer/deposit funds from India to the Australian bank. Please let me know which is a good bank in terms of availability, service and charges. Once, I will get a job in Australia, do I get an option to get my salary credited to any bank or the employer decides the bank. Regards.
  10. Yeah it seems so. I would suggest you to try calling up DIAC.
  11. No, it should not make any difference since your skills will be assessed separately by different assessment agencies. Just make sure the state where you will be seeking sponsorship from should be open to sponsor both the skills. Regards.
  12. Dear All, Finally, I have got the invite on 30-Apr-2013. I have three doubts  while filing VISA application. Please help me to get these sorted. a) Do I need to mention about my technical certifications in Education Category ? b) What should be the main language ? Is it other than English, like for me I guess it should be Hindi (as I am an Indian). c) How to answer this question ? Does the applicant have any dependent family members not travelling to Australia who are not Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents? My mother is a divorcee and will retire from her job next year. I am the only child, we are a small family of just three - myself, my spouse and my mother. Though, she is not dependent on me financially but for all other needs and has no one to look after her. Please forgive my ignorance on this. Regards.
  13. Yes, you can claim. The total points should be 60 or more. Regards.
  14. Whatever the amount is, I don't have an option. Before submitting VISA application I will get in touch with a migration agent to find out if there is an alternative. Thanks All. Regards.
  15. Thanks superm. I would go for Contributory visa once I am settled.
  16. Oh, that's sad :nah: Well I would depend on tourist VISA then or see if things can change later. Regards.
  17. Yes, my mother lives with me but not completely reliant on me as she is a salaried person as of now. But, she would turn 60 next year and then would be dependent on me for all her medical attention and some finances (as she would get some pension after retirement), in short no one would be there to look after her. Are these points enough ? Regards.
  18. Thanks Petals, but she is really dependent on me for all her needs. What about tourist VISA ? Do you have an idea what is the max duration one can stay on tourist VISA and when can one apply again after the duration of the tourist VISA ends. Regards.
  19. Dear All, I have submitted EOI for 190 VISA class. I have a doubt in number of Family Members. For background, I have a small family of three... myself, my spouse and my mother (a divorcee). My plan is that once I will get the 190 VISA along with my spouse, I will move to Australia, look for a job and once I will be settled I will call my spouse and my mother. As of now, I have submitted my EOI as below. Which is better :- a) To include my mother in EOI b) Apply her VISA (not sure of the subclass) afterwards Please suggest. Thanks in advance. Regards.
  20. Here people who have IELTS score less than 7 are done with their Skill assessment as Accountant. Not sure how ?
  21. Dear All, I have been positively assessed by ACS and have applied for NSW state sponsorship. Now, in order to increase my points by 5, I also want my spouse's skill to be assessed. As per this link, a person needs at least all 7s in IELTS 221111 Accountant (General) OR 221112 Management Accountant for skill assessment. BUT, here people who have IELTS less than 7 have applied and are successful too. I am really confused My spouse scored 6.5 in IELTS. Can he apply for skill assessment from any of the below assessment authorities ? CPA Australia The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia Institute of Public Accountants Please help. Regards, Jyoti
