  1. Hi All,

just looking a bit of advice..

been in Aus since Aug 2011 and just became a Permanent Resident in Jan this year 2014 ( so PR 9 months approx) , decided to transfer my Private Pension into my qualifying Aus Qrops fund ...

wasn't really a large amount around $68k in Aus after currency conversion ..

I have just received a letter from my Aus Super fund asking me to pick one of two options on a NAT 11724 ATO form and sign and return ..

looks like I have to pay 15% tax on my transfer hopefully I'm reading this wrong ..I have until 20/09/14 to advise my super fund on NAT 11724 !

As usual any and all advice appreciated :)

  2. Hi All,

hoping someone one can help out on a subclass 115 query , I recently obtained PR for my family (UK)after being on a 457 for just over 2 1/2 years .

I'd like to sponsor my only sibling (Brother) as I am his last remaining relative (my mother passed away recently) and it would nice to have him here in Australia with me ..can anyone advise on this visa ?

Also I know it takes a while to obtain the 115 and there is also a definition of settled from DIAC as below ..i.e

    "Settled

A person is considered settled if they are an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen who is lawfully resident in Australia for a reasonable period. In normal circumstances, two years is considered to be a reasonable period. For Australian citizens this period may be reduced to at least three months."

Does my 457 time count as "settled" as well as my new PR ,I have been in the same state and job since my arrival in Australia for over 2 1/2 years .

    Welcome any and all advice

    Thanks

  5. Parramatta are having a good day! MA just called to say......the visa has been granted. I can't believe how happy & relieved I am!! What an amazing Christmas & wedding present!

We applied on 29 Aug DR transition stream through Parramatta. With all police/medicals at time of application. It has been a long and hard process for a variety of reasons and when I have calmed down I will put a post on here with some tips that I would do differently if I was doing it again. In the meantime, best of luck to everyone, and I hope you can relax & enjoy the festive season.

At last , over the moon for you Isabel ...I think that's made your Xmas :)

  6. Hi all,

So after passively watching the thread since March, I thought I'd post my experience.

I filed my application for me and my partner on the 28th of June 2013 through an MA. I'm an IT consultant working for a large global software company, so this was the ENS 186 stream. The application was DR, and I heard nothing for months. I chased my MA last month (end of November) only to keep being told they hadn't heard anything and expect at least 6 months. However, I thought I'd give calling DIBP a call on Friday, and Lo! and behold, they said my application was FINALISED on the 17th of October. They would not divulge if it was approved or rejected. After a few hours of nail biting, unanswered phone calls and general mild annoyance (a mild understatement), my MA got back to me and said that a VEVO check had revealed that, yes, our PR was approved on the 17th of October. The only thing they could say about why I hadn't heard was that it was a technical glitch.

Anyway, I am over the moon, even if the way of finding out was a bit anticlimactic. I recommend to anyone who is waiting and have just been going through their migration agent to call DIBP directly. Just have your passport number ready and they should be able to tell you the progress.

Good luck to all those who are waiting!

Stream : ENS Subclass 186 - Decision Ready

    Application date: 28/6/2013

    CO Assigned : No idea.

    Nomination approved : No idea.

Visa approved and granted : 17/10/2013

Actual knowledge of approved Visa: 13/12/2013

    Ivar

Congrats Ivar what a nice Xmas present :)

can I ask which DIPB office ?

  7. I'm keeping an eye on this thread as I'm submitting my application next week - but I'm just wondering why people become so anxious when the estimated time given on the website is 6 months?

Having spent nearly 14k so far on a family DR visa via an MA and realise that different offices are vastly different processing times can be very frustating ...I hope you dont

endure a communicationless 6+ months as some have done ...as another member has pointed out DR apps are very expensive and the clear message from DIAC is that they are treated

as a priority ..which at Vic does not seem to ring true

I have seen other fortunate individuals granted 186 ens which is great ..but you should understand that until you have the grant you are effectively in limbo .

  8. Hi Tony

Mine's in Parramatta, but the CO seems to have gone AWOL and the MA is refusing to chase because he thinks it could delay the application further.....aAaagghh!!!??!?

I feel like giving up. This is the most frustrating process ever.

agree totally but all we can do is wait like little mushrooms !

  9. I ask my MA but he said there is no time frame , and he said no one file had opened who applied after may

    Hi,

you are absolutely right all the approvals seem to be parramatta , I haven't seen anyone reference the Vic immi in quite a while

    my time line

186 ens Transition stream DR via MA @ Vic immi

    Employer nom 19/09/13

    Employee nom 19/09/13

no "co" allocated to date , no comms

Best wishes to all who are waiting

  10. Has your MA said anything Tony? Mine said they emailed DIBP but they have a 10 day response time for emails. It's been 7 days now, not sure what happens if it gets to 10 days with no response - send another email they ignore!?!?[/quote

Only the following email reply to my MA ....

"Standard processing times are outlined on our website at the link below: http://www.immi.gov.au/about/charters/client-services-charter/visas/8.0.htm "

  11. Hi All,

just thought I'd pop my timeline in. here also ...

DR app via MA, family of four (UK) employer and employee nomination both submitted on 19/09/13 @ Vic office

all Medicals ,police clearances and form 80 front loaded ...

MA queried DR progress to DIAC and response .... as below not helpful :(

"Standard processing times are outlined on our website at the link below:

    http://www.immi.gov.au/about/charters/client-services-charter/visas/8.0.htm"

good luck to everyone who has been unfortunate enough to use the Vic office

  12. Hi All ,

i have engaged an MA to submit a Decision ready app ..submitted 4 weeks ago ..I have requested the TRN number which he has provided but the DIAC website also requires a password to access the status ,the MA has informed me he will update me as and when necessary but I d like to see status ,I.e when case officer is assigned , extra docs requested etc etc ....has anyone else had issues getting the password of the MA or is it unreasonable to ask for the password to check ..I just don't want to be pestering the MA !

    Thanks

  13. Hi All,

quick question ..I'm applying to move from my current 457 to PR in a couple of weeks via a "decision ready" application via a migration agent .

I have a son (24) back home in Uni currently finishing off his Masters in Dec 2013 and he is a full time student and is currently a

dependent on my 457 and will also be included as a dependent on my PR app (age limit is 25 as long as in full time ed and dependent )

There is a break over the summer Aug to end of Sep where he wants to come over to Oz and take a part time job for a few months (20hrs a week)

I'm concerned that if he takes a job in Oz even at only 20 hrs a week that he may be classed as a "non-dependant" family member and not qualify

    under my PR app

...anybody any thoughts ..apart from the obvious ..i.e tell him not to work :)

    :)

  14. Hi,

I currently support my son by sending money home each month as he is a full time student , still residing at home I have yet to sell my UK residence, due the current downturn in house prices over the last few years , but he is dependant on our support at the moment to finish his studies

  15. Hi Tickled pink ,

Thanks for replying ,he does have an offer from a University in Australia to take up a PHD position in Jan 2013 dependent on PR ,he would still reside with us until his studies were completed and as such would be dependent on us for lodging accommodation etc as you say tricky ..appreciate any other advice from forum members
