  1. Hi all, moving over to oz in November time & wondered if anyone knew of a decent shipping company that would ship some small items for me, e.g Powertools, handtools, toolboxes. may have a few very small personal itmes too which could be packed in. I'm doing some travelling beforehand so will be hitting oz around January time. I ideally want the items delivered to my relative in Melbourne. thanks for all your help!
  2. Hi All, I was granted my SSV 176 2 years ago to WA (all good)..... Basically my plan was always to move to Sydney, and originally i applied for a 175 visa so I could move there once granted. Unfortunately after my visa was lodged back in 2008, I was hit by all the changes to immigration & was left waiting for 1 1/2 years without hearing a thing. My visa agent then advised that it would be much quicker for me to apply for a WA state sponsorship as my occupation was on the skilled list & meant i would recieve my visa quicker. The visa agent also advised that if I stuck with my 175 visa, there would be no guarantee how long it would take to get the visa granted, as I would in effect go to the back of th queue... I had a conversation at the time to my visa agent & she said not to worry too much about staying in WA for the 2 years needed.. She advised that the department arent very hot on keeping track of you, & as long as I could give them a WA address & filled out my questionaire from the department every 6 months, there wouldnt be anything stopping me living in Sydney. I wondered if anyone has any advice or if anyone is thinking of doing a similar thing?? I dont wanna jeapodise my visa in anyway so dont know whether to just stick in Perth for the 2 years as required, then move to the east side.... Any words of wisdom or advice much appreciated!:wubclub:
  3. Thank you fiona, will give it a go... really appreciate your help!
  4. Hi all, Hope everyone who casts their eye over this thread had a Great xmas, and all the best for the NY... I came with my 'now' wife over to Perth to activate my 176 SSV, and am currently still in the city. My wife needs to lodge a spousal visa which we have researched & been helped by the same visa agent who got my me my SSV for W.A. The plan was to pop over here for hols, activate & then return home for a year to do some hard saving (especially after being surprised how much the cost of living has shot up here since I was here in 2005), but I understand the wages are higher etc etc. Our issue is this, we desperately dont want to return to the U.k.!! My wife is in a shop manager job which she hates, & I was unfortunately made redundant from my job as a carpenter 6 months ago at home, since that happened I have had really no option other than to go out on my own and with the current job situation back home in the U.K. & poor economy prospects things are all grim on our return... But, our issue is we are on extremely limited funds. My wife has enough money to lodge her spousal visa onshore, which we know can take anything up to 9 months but that is pretty much it. I have around $6500 Aus dollors which i can gamble with if we stay, but have no tools to work in my trade & no vehicle. I have looked at so many jobs on seek & mycareer online & am open to doing anything to make a go of it. I guessing my best bet is to am for warehouse work or something.... We have found a place close to the city which we could put a bond done on & afford around 2 months rent before we are pretty much stuffed!! obviously my wife cant work till her visa is sorted...... We dont have children (wouldnt ever put them in this situation as a little bit of a gamble!) so its just us with a dream of staying...... Anyone have any words of wisdom, or are we being ridiculous and letting the sun get to us?????? ........... We have open flights which we have already changed twice! and now booked to fly tommorro home to the U.K... we have been trudging around the city all day today trying to work out whats best!, we both are desperate to stay but not sure if we're just going to waste what little money we have on a wim, when we could go back and save more, 7 be back in a year or so.... I have an issue of if i go home I work in London and will need to buy a new works van which meets the new Low edmissions zone, & pay a few grand in tax come january.... if we stay at least i have that money.... Anyone started here on low funds? or can give any advice......... Thank you....:twitcy:
