  1. Don't want to be negative, but if you bring money over to OZ don't you have to pay tax on the financial gain you have made from the date you arrived. So if you have gained 10 grand from a rising currency that will be taxed. I think this applies after 6 months entry date or used to. Someone may have better knowledge than me but I think this still applies for pensions as well.

  3. Dollar collapsing against the pound and dollar. £1.85 to pound. Great news for anyone changing now. Feel a bit sorry for anyone that changed at 1.45 when Hoff said it was good!
  4. Might be worth a think if changing any money over. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/rba-governor-glenn-stevens-open-to-action-to-bring-down-value-of-dollar/story-fn59niix-1226765668172
  5. Great idea, They should of done this in Oz years ago. The bubble in this country is massive and should of been controlled.
  6. Them lot change their predictions every week. Looks like their model works. You Keep listening to them Hoffo Ald lad. Or you can read the actual growth rate from National statistics. My worry is the downturn in Oz at the moment not the upturn in the UK.
  7. UK GDP growth revised up to 0.7% Economic growth in the UK during the second quarter of the year is revised up to 0.7% by the Office for National Statistics. 0.7 x4 =2.8%. what you think to that Hoffy Ald lad?
  8. Come on Captain, any better thoughts from yourself or maybe from your clingers. What space are you on about?
  9. If the dollar does fall to say $0.54 to the pound then there could be a lot of profit taking from external investment as this was the level that alot piled in to the Oz assets. There could be a domino effect coming soon. Investors will not want to start losing out on currency fluctuations when starting to make losses. Risk will be too high and a major run could happen. Watch this space.
  10. Rose tinted Hoff- It seems like you want Australia to be in recession, not me. I was just pointing out the obvious. Australia was good 8 years ago. Not so now. You've missed the boat mate.

  12. Thanks. Such wit. Any contribution to the topic old lad. People welcome that, not personal hits old lad.
  13. Sat watchin the roos on the Golf course old lad. Not Utopia but will do for now.
  14. Yes I know. If you read my OP, this was predicted then. My OP was a calculated guess, like everyone else's. The only difference was the probability which is now gaining speed.
  15. Amazing how things can change in a year or so!!! http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/features/sinking-feeling-in-the-boom-state/story-e6frg6z6-1226658953484
  16. LOL, Might not have been so ridiculous as you thought. Oz Dollar dropping like a stone. Currency rates don't lie. Time will tell, sooner rather than later.
  17. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/treasury/rate-cut-signals-end-of-boom-warns-rba/story-fn59nsif-1226486931178 Is this the start of the collapse?
  18. Interesting link http://www.smh.com.au/national/homesick-and-away-pingpong-poms-bounce-back-to-the-old-dart-20111031-1ms93.html
  19. I would think this is the worse possible time to exchange UK to Aus. The exchange is the worst its ever been for the UK punter. 'Miss the boat' mate- That left 7 years ago. Any one changing currency at this rate will regret it for the rest of their lives.
  20. Is this the start of the collapse? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19352513
  21. Another .25% this month reduction. The treasurer must be getting worried about the high dollar now. Lets see where it goes from here. Is this the confirmation cut that things are slowing rapidly in Oz?
