Hi to everybody,

I have my engineering qualifications recognised before coming to Australia but now I have applied for an ARTC to be able to work in Technician positions. I sent my application early June, does anybody have any idea when about will I be contacted?. So far they have requested an additional document which I sent it early this month (July).

And the most important, do you have any book to suggest available here in Australia, to refresh my knowledge. This is very important to me because I must be more familiar with some English terms. My application is first as Electrical Mechanic and secondly as Electrical Fitter.

Any help will be really appreciated, thanks!

My visa has a condition that me and the kid (secondary applicants) can't entry to australia before my wife (main applicant). The visa is 176 relative sponsor. Do you think that this condition relies to the fact that the sponsor is my wife's uncle? Because i've seen other people saying that they have been told by the dept that the secondary can entry first.

Today was my turn!!!!!!!! We got our visa today!!!!!!With direct grant. We have to be there before 29/3/12.

It all depends on what team these people get assigned to as in the past we have seen eg team 2 work faster that say team 4 and can be a month in front so don't panic yet I am sure you will hear something soon. :biggrin:

I am really worried because I see many people from all Feb and also March (now and April) having CO but me nothing!!:confused: Note that I received the 18th March letter. It seems that this letter means nothing now. They only forced us to do our checks imediately and now if we get the visa we'll only have 2-3 months to get there! :arghh:

so far I seem to be only feb11 applicant left without a CO :cry:

I would not worry yet as if you look at the first page of this thread we still have a someone from December and February waiting, I would maybe think about sending a PLE to Diac or even calling them they would be able to give you some better information.

I have sent a message asking about how long it will take but the answer actually was "if you have not CO do not make any question"

I am a Cat4 applicant submited my application on 3/2/2011 and received the 18th march letter. I can see now that there are many applicants from the end of feb who have a CO, but me not. My application is supposed to be decision ready and i have submited police and medicals on April. Do I have to worry about? Did they forget me?

Yes still need to read email they sent, can't read it at work but on website all details there and say we have to be in by 17th Feb 2012!!!

Although your police and medical checkd were finalised on April, why do you have to be in Australia on Feb? Is it possible for someone to stay for some days and after that go back home before moving permanently?

...I would ask anyone who is 18th March Applicant and the spreadsheet doesn't state this to let Bpremji or me know so we can update the sheet so it gives a true reading) so the only way to predict is to go on past history....

rahulpatel1969, how do you know that they are allocated to COs Cat 4 Feb 2011 applicants? I logded my application on 3 feb 2011 and received the letter of 18th March but no CO yet. I asked yesterday the deparment about the progress of my case (reminding the letter I received) but they refered to the official website where allocation dates are available. I am not sure even if the new deadline of 30th sep that was written in this thread is true!

Hallo to everybody, I would like to ask about an electrical licence in Victoria. I am an automation engineer (bachelor degree) qualified from overseas and recognised by engineers of Australia as an Engineering Technologist. While all this time waiting for my permanent visa, I am looking to various job advertisments related to my discipline. Some of these advs which are for control system technician or filed service technician for example and fits to my expierience, require an A class electrical licence. Do you think that in my case, having an engineering degree will overcome this requirement?
