  1. Dont get me wrong with that its my personal experience like until now even my payment hasnt deducted in my debit card yet, unlike when you do online straight away your application is on the system, while doing it paper application they have to wait for it and input the details into the system thats what i am saying but it doesnt mean that it has a big difference between online and paper application, that's why they are encouraging people to do online application right? But i do not want to argue about these things for i am not an expert like you are, this is my personal views and like what i have said i regret my descision not doing it online.

Whoah! Steady on! Where did I claim to be an expert? I was just commenting as everyone does on a forum.

I'm not denying your personal viewpoint or your personal experience, and i'm not arguing.

I appreciate the frustration around everything regarding immigration and citizenship timelines; hence why I mentioned that regardless of the manner of citizenship application, if everything goes well, you'll probably end up in the same ceremony either way! It was a reassurance, not a criticism.

Having said that, if Australia Post lose your application, then you do indeed have a problem. An online application takes away that worry about the delivery method of the application.

    Good luck! Peace!

  2. I applied here in Melbourne, I reckon mine will taje a bit longer because i do it paper application, im regretting it now, much better to do it online, but im just hoping to receive a reply from them soon.

How you apply wont make any difference in the grand scheme of things. You will still do the interview and citizenship test, and then wait several months for the ceremony.

  3. Hi guys. I have my ceremony on saturday and it states on the letter that I can only have 2 guests with me. Are they strict on this or is there a chance I could have more than 2 guests?

I doubt that anyone here can give you a definitive answer for that.

Your local council will be the ones who know how many people the venue can cater for.

  4. I arrived in Australia on 1st Oct 2012 on 457 visa

visa granted (PR) on 23rd Oct 2012

till now I haven't travel anywhere (living in Australia)

    My questions is:

Do I need overseas police check and AFP? while submitting application for citizenship on 24th Oct 2016?

Did you read the link provided by MaggieMay24?

You will need to provide original penal clearance certificates from overseas countries if, since the grant of your permanent Australian visa:

    • you lived or travelled overseas since the age of 18 years or over, and

    • the total time spent overseas added up to 12 months or more, and

    • the time spent in any one country was more than 90 days, or

    • you are requested to do so by the department.

If you are applying outside Australia, then Australia should be considered an overseas country.

I just want to know that, can i choose a specific council? or DIBP will allocate the council based on my address?

i'm asking this question because i'll move to new address around November 2016 but i'll lodge my application on october 2016.

If your circumstances change after submitting the application, then you'll have to notify them of your new address. It really is as straightforward as that.

Ceremonies are allocated to the council in which you reside.

  7. Hi. I have a question please. When filling up the form for citizenship, should both parents include their children in their application form. I mean filling out the details and declaring that they're included with their application. Thanks for your reply.

At the time of our application we had one child under the age of 16. I included her only in my application. However you can link all the applications together anyway so it doesn't make much difference. (If you are filling out the form, you can state other family members that you wish to attend a ceremony with. That way, everyone in the family is linked)

We all have our ceremony next week.

  9. Hi Everyone!

I've been waiting for a long time to have my approval of my citizenship

    application?

Applied through paper application last October 2015

Then I took the test last 21st of Janury 2016

I'm just wondering if there's anyone who have the same situation

    like mine????

I rang the Immigration today but they have uniform response

as the last time I've asked them "still processing"......

and keep on waiting .....so annoying.....

Yes, normal. One of our four applications took the best part of 2 months to be approved. The other 3 were approved in the same week of the test.

  10. guys, I have question

Can I apply for citizenship slightly before 4 years(3 years on visa 457 + 1 year on PR), to have actual ceremony right after 4 years? I see that it takes in average 2 month between application and ceremony dates, is it possible to apply when you 3 years 10 month in Australia?

You need to meet the criteria upon application.

I doubt that you'd get many ceremonies 2 months after application. It's often around a month between application and test, and then several months between confirmation of test pass and the ceremony. We passed the test in September 2015; still waiting for a ceremony.

  11. The health referral takes into account everything associated with administering healthcare, not just the cost of the simple stuff like check-ups and medication.

Having said that, I'd be surprised if you have any problems. They are really looking for major issues with a seriously heavy ongoing cost to the taxpayer.

  12. What will happen next is that you will get the report done by your medical practitioner. This will answer the questions required by the Medical Officer.

The information will be used to calculate cost of likely future treatment required.

  13. Hi I hope somebody could enlighten me,it's been a month now that I have not receive a notification of approval of my citizenship application. What would be the possible reason? Why it takes so long to get it?

Note:I took the citizenship test together with my son and he got his one week after? Why????í*½í¸‚í*½í¸‚í*½í¸‚í*½í¸‚í*½í¸‚í*½í¸‚

My wife was the same. Out approvals came thru in around a week; my wife's approval took much longer to come thru. She called them and was told that it just had not been dealt with yet and to keep waiting.

  14. We were told that the only way to help speed things up is to unlink family members from the ceremony process. (All 5 of our family are linked together currently awaiting a ceremony). We were told that if we had a need for a quicker ceremony then separating the applications might make it easier for the local council to allocate places at a ceremony.

Haven't bothered. We'll just wait. (Passed the test at the end of September and had the confirmation letter a few days later; now waiting on Banyule Council, Melbourne).

  15. An English Breakfast is a Tea, it is not an English Breakfast . I found out this the hard way when I ordered it , I was expecting an English breakfast but instead received a cup of coffee & a Cup of Tea & a very strange look from the waitress.

    That made me chuckle! [emoji2]

Did you just sit down and ask the staff if they could do you a lovely English breakfast? And they didn't enquire if you were looking to order some food also?

Most cafes actually do sell a full fried breakfast (with their own moniker for it). In my wife's cafe it's currently called a "Full Monty". It's previous name was just "Big breakfast" but that doesn't sound as glamorous and people will pay more for some lyrically descriptive menu items!
