  1. I am going to an urgent ceremony on 4th Feb.

I applied on 14th Nov, did the interview on 29th Nov and it was approved on the same day.

Best of luck to you. I can't believe the immigration being so efficient in this regard !!!

How are you getting on with your Citizenship..??

I received my acceptance on Nov 4th....but still no ceremony date ( Jan 11th )....I have contacted the dept. I have been told to keep waiting, so I don't think one can rush these things too much..

    Cheers. FNS

  2. Thank you for the post!

After a long wait I gave immi a call this morning and found out my request was approved.

The ceremony letter is on the way being sent out and I am going to a departmental ceremony on 4th Feb, well before the payment due date for next semester, 14th Feb.

Best of luck to you too, I hope you will have a wonderful moment at the ceremony.

ps. After checking with the immigration on the phone, the ceremony letter arrived in the mailbox two hours later !!

    Hi ikgc

I don't think the procedure is any different in VIC to QLD.

I had my citizenship test in November. When I initially tried to apply for the early ceremony, they told me that I had to wait until I had confirmation of enrolment for Semester 1, 2014.

I finally got hold of that info yesterday and I emailed it to the Ceremony team and they have just responded this morning to say that I will have my ceremony in the first week of March and that I'll get a letter with all the info in February.

At least for the QLD Ceremony team, it took them less than 24 hours to respond every time I have emailed them.

I have had to send them:

    - Completed urgent ceremony application form

    - A copy of my confirmation of enrolment for Semester 1, 2014.

    - A copy of my invoice for fees for Semester 1, 2014.

I hope that helps (if you have had any trouble organising your early ceremony, as I may have mis-read your post). Best of luck getting it sorted if you haven't yet, and if you have, congrats and hope the ceremony goes well/went well for you.

  3. I said I got uni but I cannot afford to pay upfront.

Fees are the same for PRs or citizens, there are eligible for local fees. The only difference is that PRs need to pay the fees upfront without loan.

Citizens can defer the payment into the tax system via a loan called HECS and repay that after their income reaches a certain threshold.

I had to put in a urgent ceremony form and attach some evidence to prove that I had enrolled into a course and the fees were due.

I am not sure about your situation, but you can try. As long as you have a compassionate reason I don't see why they will decline it.

    Good luck. XX

sorry to pump this thread up, can I ask what reasons one can use to apply for urgent ceremony? about the uni, what difference does that make to non citizen apart from the fees? Did you have to show any proof that you are going to uni? I am eligible for the test late March and want to get the passport done asap after due to family reasons in USA. With Australian passport means I won't have to apply for a visa to USA which can be declined and costly. Thanks
  4. Hey everyone, how has your ceremony been ?

I got mine approved on 29/11/2013. I checked with the immigration and was told I would not be attending the ceremony on 26/01.

So I have to apply for urgent ceremony so I can get HECS for the coming semester.

I went to immigration today, filled out a form, and attached my fee statements as evidence.

Does anyone know how long it takes approximately to get a reply from them?

I am in Melbourne btw .... xx

  5. Congratulations.

I am on the same boat and applying on 14th Nov. I'm afraid I can't beat the deadline for the next semester. Which city are you in? I am in Melbourne and hope it is as efficient !!

  6. Thanks. But I also need citizenship because I am a student and need HESC to support my study. I cannot afford to pay upfront so I need it by the census date.

It might come through if you are very very lucky. Don't understand the need for the shrieky heads or how this is a "chance in life" but if it is that important to you wait until the next year, it would definitely be a second chance.
  7. Hi there,

I am eligible for citizenship on 14th Nov 2013.

Does anyone think I can fit into the citizenship ceremony on 26 January 2014 ?

Given it is quite tight and not much time left if taking Christmas and stuff in consideration.

I really want to take out citizenship on the national day because there is no second chance in life:arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh:

    ( I am in Melbourne)

  8. No you cannot nominate industrial pharmacist, for independent or relative sponsored applications, you need to nominate an occupation on SOL 1. That means it must be either hospital/community pharmacist. The assessment process is the same for both of them. You still need to take IELTS as it is part of the skill assessment process. Without skill assessment, you will not be able to make any valid application for skill migration regardless which visa you are applying for.

  9. Hi there,

Currently only community/hopsital pharmacists can go for the independent migration route. Industrial pharmacists are not eligible because it is not listed in the SOL 1

Instead of IELTS, you can also take OET. If you want your brother to sponsor you you will not get straight PR, you will only get a povisional visa which allows you to get PR provided you have lived for 2 years and worked full time for 1 year in a designated area. Whether or not your brother is eligible to be a sponsor depends on where he lives in Australia, he must live in a designated area to be eligible. For a full list of designated areas you have to refer to the immi web site.

  10. Invitation received: 15/10

    Application lodgement: 19/10

    Application approved: 14/11

    Additional documents: Nil

I was not asked anything just a straight approval. :)

Hope everyone get theirs very soon.

    XX

    Congrats!!!! Thats great news!!

Can you please share your timelines and further documents asked by CO?

It would be great help to others!

  11. It was 885 but I did not lodge any decision ready application. I just waited for ages and was told over the phone that my case was allocated on 21/9.

My MA was told by DIAC it would be 1-2 weeks from CO allocation to finalize the visa, so hopefully it won't be too long for you to wait now. Can I ask which visa you have applied for and when you lodged your Decision Ready application? I'm just trying to get an idea of time frames. Thanks.
