  1. Hi all, First, mods, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section. The Visa help section didn't seem quite right, but if it is, please move it! My husband and I have been in Melbourne for two years now and our first child is due on 1st June. We're super-excited, but have only just thought about her nationality and getting her a passport for the visits to the UK & US we are planning for November! We are on our second year of a 457 Business class visa and are planning on applying for Permament Residency, but that won't come through before bub is born. Because I am American, I think bub can/will be an American citizen - but I haven't lived in the US for 10 years now and apparently you need proof of having lived there for at least five years. DH is English, and I had Indefinite Leave (which will have expired since I've been here for so long now), so it seems like it would be easier to get her an English passport in case we need proof of having lived in the UK, but I just don't know. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Everything I Google just sends me to an Australian site telling me bub won't be an Australian citizen automatically!
