  1. You can sort your registration easily by signing up with a Nursing Agency coz that would count as an employer. Even if you don't actually do any work for them for a while your still technically employed by them and you never know what doors this may open to you for the future.

    Thank you Cjmre76.

    I'll look into that..

  2. I have a question on registration......i have applied for and now received a letter from AHPRA to say i have been successful and am now eligible for registration. All i need to do is present myself to AHPRA office with passport and meet ID and criminal history requirements. When i read the details of this on AHPRA site, it says i need to have job offer to complete process? My problem is...i initially intended to be in Oz for good August just gone, but have had to postpone for almost 2 years, so will now be arriving for good 2013. We are going out to validate next Feb, and my letter says i have to go to AHPRA office by march 2012 or will lose right to register and have to restart process all over again and they will destroy all my documentation. Can i still complete registration process without job offer, so i have registration which i can just renew as you would in Uk, then i will have my registration in place for when we move for good 2013. Has anyone completed registration process without job offer? Thanks Tania.

    Hi

Think you have to give an address. Or if you are in temp. accomodation they will accept your employers details. You may have to accept to lose the window (and your $450) and go through the process all over again when your ready. Sorry.

  3. Hi, I am just about to start my AHPRA registration, luckily I don't need to get a visa. I wanted to ask about the CV you send with your application. A few people have mentioned that their CVs were pages and pages and I wondered just how much detail are AHPRA asking for as I can't find any specific information on their website.

Look again on their website. There is a link to the format of the CV.

  4. been watching most of this forum and time to ask my question...the cost of importation once it arrives in brisbane.........i have a saab 95 aero saloon auto 2008...love it and have has it since new....other half wants to have a bit of home with us, and wants the car to come when we go next yr.......i intend to do roll on roll off from southamption...have done the costs for de gassing, valeting, and bringing spares for servicing, and tyres etc......the rest of our personal furntiure and stuff is going in 20ft container....so trying to get to know what will i incure the other end in costs....inspections, rego, fully comp insurance, and any import duty or tax. We hope to go over on a Regional state migration visa, as other half is a burns nurse. any help it costs for auz end would be very helpful.

  5. Hi all,

I am an Australian living in London but moving back to Brisbane. I am a registered nurse here and trying to sort out my registration to be able to practice in Australia.

AHPRA have clear guidelines with the application process however I need to get a number of documents certified. Outside of the Australia this needs to be a justice of the peace, Notary Public or a person appointed at the Australian high commission.

I have contacted several Notary public's and the fees are extortionate up to 95 pounds per document (I have about 15!!) My local magistrates and Australian High commission are also charging for this, about 25 pounds per item.

Do you know if there is anywhere in London where there is a Justice of the Peace or Notary Public service that offers certifying documents either for free or for a much more reasonable price?

    Thanks for your time!

If your willing to travel to Cardiff, a notary public certified all of my documents for the grand total of £70. He certifies per person not per document.

  6. Thats right for the 457 and for the ENS/RSMS visas you only need to apply to AHPRA, no need for skills assessment or IELTS (if you were educated in English)

    Hi

I hope to get queensland health to sponsor me on a rsms next year. Regarding RSMS - Diac state that you don't need anmac assessment and ahpra state that you don't need ielts if you can prove english education. But...... on reading the policy for sponsorship on the queensland health website their criteria states that the employee must have been assessed competent in english (ie IELTS) and must have been assessed by the appropriate professional body (ie AMNAC)

So, advice to you all.... check the requirements of the employer you hope to engage with!!

I've decided to do it all, that way nobody can drop a requirement in half way through the visa process. I sat my IELTS in May. Sending off stuff to ANMAC next week and instructing them to forward to AHPRA.

    Good luck!

  7. anmac assess you. AHPRA register you. Registration is annual. I intend to get my registration as soon as possible even if it means wasting a year of registration. There's no telling how long you'll have to wait for your reg to come through. Surely it would be great to go into the actual visa application knowing that you've already done IELTS; anmac and ahpra. Just leaves meds and police checks to do.

  8. Well, what a nightmare!! I've been assessed by ANMC, got them to send info to AHPRA which they've got. Ahpra then email me three weeks ago wanting extra docs, so got those and thought that was basically it, now they email me stating that the overseas transcript isnt detailed enough for comparison with Oz degree, I'm diploma trained. They now want a detailed description/overview of each module that is on the transcript. Have spoken to five different people at uni as dont have this information seeing as i finished training three years ago (who the hell keeps it all??). They tell me that the woman who deals with it is on holiday till next weds, I fly the wednesday after. Arghhhh!!!! Anyone else had this issue, and actually got registered with diploma??

    Thanks

    Hi

I trained 20 years ago!!! (1988-1991 the youngest student ever obviously!) Thought it would be impossibe to get a transcript. My school of nursing doesn't exist anymore! But I contacted the uni that nurses in Swansea would now do their nursing degree at and, they were brilliant! Sent the transcript; all my reports from each placement; my results and tutor comments from all the case studies I did along the way; exam marks during training and my finals pass marks; a cover letter stating that the training was in english; and!! they also dug out evidence of post basic training that I'd lost certificates for long ago! And...., they sent 2 copies of everything - all for £50.

If this doesn't satisfy AHPRA I'll be gobsmacked!

Good luck everyone. Every time I think I'm on top of what I need to do regarding the visa process, I read something on DIAC; AMNAC or APHRA which throws it all up in the air! Anyone else feel the same way?

    Ann:smile:
