  1. Hi

we ended up just flying our Boxer to Australia using PetAir. They were brilliant.  Unfortunately our Boston Terrier Died before we emigrated due to kidney failure.
the Boxer didn’t fair to well although being fit and healthy and 5 years old. He ended up getting a urine infection in the quarantine kennels as he wouldn’t wee in his kennel run as he’s a super clean dog.  He also thought we had abandoned him (according to the great vet that was dealing with him) Our Boxer had basically given up and was refusing to eat. The vets were going in everyday and trying to hand feed him roast chicken. They even called me and put the phone to my dogs ear so I could speak to him. Anyway it was the longest 10 days of my life. On the day when he could fly from Sydney to perth the vet wasn’t too keen on sending him. But I begged saying that once he’s with me he will be fine. Reluctantly the vet agreed and they sent my dog onwards to Perth.  Once I collected him at Perth airport he looked like the saddest dog in the world sitting in the crate. Then he heard my voice and it was all tail wags and licks. He spent a few days recovering from the trauma of it all. But I must say he was a different dog. Very needy afterwards and always needed to be closer to me than normal.  Unfortunately a year later we had to put him to sleep as he had a huge ‘mass’ in his chest.

Give Pet air a call and see what they recommend. Quite a few airlines have a ban on flying snub nosed dogs. Pet Air helped us.

  2. Mandy are you sure we dont have the same sister because everything you wrote sounds exactly like her!!!!! I am currently biting my tongue (a lot of the time drawing blood) as i am getting married in 2 weeks and if i lose my temper and tell her exactly what i think she wont come to my wedding (not such a bad thing) but she wont allow my niece & nephew to come (who i adore). But once the wedding is over thats it, if she starts then she will get it all full throttle!! Cant wait until we go to Aus, maybe then she can be civil, though i doubt it! My life will mainly revolve around myself, my (nearly) hubby, (future) children & hopefully good friends i hope to make!!

    Hi Lou,

If it was the same sister you would of disowned her by now ha ha ha.

I didn't attend her wedding years ago and I now have nothing to do with her children, That's the only sad bit but to be honest for my own sanity I needed to delete them all from my life. The children are mostly grown up now and I missed out on so much of there lives when we had the 10 years of not talking.

Also with us going to Australia I knew that my nieces and nephews would not stay in touch and my sister was still accessing my FB page through her kids FB account. (she had blocked me) So I had to delete all of my nieces and nephews.

After I made that decision it was like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. Both of my parents understand my decision and have now stopped trying to hint at me trying to reconcile with her. They both can see I have tried and tried and this time I am serious.

Good luck with your wedding, I hope it's a wonderful day for you. I'm sure you will make loads of nice friends and enjoy your next life chapter in Australia.

Where a bout's are you heading for in Australia?

  3. To me blood isn't thicker than water. I have more love and respect for some of my friends than I do my sister.

My annoyance is aimed at the people who think that I have to maintain a relationship with my sister because we are related. My father constantly tells me, "You know what she's like" but in my book you can't go around being abusive and hurtful to people just because they are related to you. I don't act like that and I'm sure if I did I would be pulled up pretty quickly but since my sister has always been like that it has somehow become accepted. BUT not to me NO longer. I refuse to be her verbal punching bag and accept her behavior.

I agree with you Jin77, we are all going to that Happy Place and what makes me even happier is that my sister is now writhing in jealously that I am going! Mwahahahahaha (evil laugh)

  4. What a relief it's not just me... Loads of us in the same boat! We may need a bigger boat!

I refuse to have anything to do with my sister, basically tried for several years to get along but fed up with the drama that comes with her. After ten years we tried again to maintain a relationship that only lasted 10 months! Now we are back to not speaking and no contact what so ever. She has also now chosen to cut all ties with my Mum. My OH has 3 siblings and only has contact with one of them. He's washed his hands of the rest. He and I both have a close relationship with both sets of parents.

What annoys me the most is when people are "shocked'" that I have no contact with my sister. I get all the "you are related, blood is thicker than water, blah blah blah"

Life is too short to surround your self with negative, jealous, spiteful people etc. Concentrate on those you love and who love you.

    It works for us.

  5. Thanks I just phoned them and they say the queues are big so we will post them off as we would like it in the visa also for evidence.

    Hi Tania,

We posted ours off too after weighing up the cost of a day trip to London. We posted ours off on a Wednesday afternoon and got them back Saturday morning. So a really quick turnaround.

To be honest I was a bit disappointed with the sticker. It looked no different than my 6 month visa. The only difference being the wording. I was expecting it it be all gold. I'm now hoping for a brass band when I get off the plane ha ha ha x

  6. Out of the two March Applicants one has submitted his PCC and medicals so he might go straight to grant the another annever does not seem to be posting so could be he has got co or even visa and not bothered to post and upgrade his status.

I just checked to see how everyone was going and I'm still sitting there all alone... Really hope you all hear something soon.

Your right he may of stopped posting, would be nice to keep others informed if he has a visa so people can see some movement .

  7. I just checked in to see where everyone is and I'm shocked that March applicants are still waiting for Visa grants. I'm sitting there all on my own... Hurry up Diac and turn the Marchians Purple. (I looked at the spread sheet)

I really hope you all get some good news soon. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  8. I think you miss the point made, provided they have the medicals in allotted time and no problems with E/Health system, then it goes directly to DIAC, the agent has no bearing on this at all, it is only when people leave it to last minute maybe due to not being able to get an appointment ... etc.

I personally do not trust Agents, a lot of them stated my partner should forget applying for a visa as she didnt qualify would never get through a TRA assessment, good job we ignored more that one agents advice as we got our visa grant a week ago.

Really pleased you had success with your visa and it all worked out with you not using and agent.

For me there are good and bad agents out there.

For me personally our agent has been brilliant and managed to get us lodged two days before my OH hit his 45th birthday. Something we could not of done. They did what we paid them for and beyond.

We front loaded our medicals and police checks re March 18th email and we went straight to Visa Grant.

    Everyone has a difference experience.

I was originally answering your point where you said 'An agent has nothing to do with the meds'

Our agent did have a small input into our meds and explained the pro's and con's of front loading, also needing a receipt from the clinic to upload. But you are right in the grand scheme of things they don't really have much to do with your meds.

  9. Sorry, I am baffled, a Agent has nothing to do with the meds, You will have your medicals and they will be uploaded by the Doctor, then the site will say recieved and then go to finalised or referred.

If you are using Maidenhead then the staff there are really good if you ask the manager she will email your CO and explain the circumstance and will advise them the Meds are done and on way. so the Agent is not playing ball properly. IMO

Our agent asked for a copy of our receipt for our medicals which she then sent as proof that we had undertaken our medicals. By sent I mean uploaded to our online application.

So in our experience the agent did have something to do with the medicals.

I think agents want to dot the I's and cross the T's and make sure nothing is overlooked.

  10. Morning Tania, and All

Just to let you know that our Visa was granted this morning. WooooHoooo

Woke up this morning to find that we had gone straight to grant.

I am one happy bunny. Go Marchians!!!

Good luck to everyone else. xxx

  11. All that is showing is the date when my medicals were received and it says:

    Health requirements finalised

everything is still showing as required. Nothing is showing as MET.

Sorry I can't be of more help. :cute:[/quote

On the home page, next to each document required, there is the word "message" that you can click on. After clicking on the one next to medicals it showed application being processed further.

I think I'm just being too technical ;)

Thank you very much for checking Mandy!!!

    A

Just checked that, I have never clicked on the "message" bit before.

This is what it says on ours:

Health Requirements have been finalised - application being processed further.

    The same as you.

I think we will hear something in the next couple of weeks.

  12. Hi Mandy,

Ours have also been showing that from the start,I was just wondering what the message next to medicals meant...

"Health requirements have been finalised - application being processed further"

So I guess I'm wondering what your message next to medicals finalised is...

Please check and let me know

    Thanks for reply:hug:

I will do, Once I have the golden ticket (visa) in hand it will be full steam ahead.

As I type both boys are basking in the sun in the conservatory! Bless them

  17. Glad you've decided on what you want to do :) Now to get to the research, planning and so on with airlines. M2M suggested Cathay already and the other one I know of that does fly snub nosed breeds still is Malaysian Airlines. Check feedback etc on both of those and any others you find to see which one is the better option.

Do you plan to have a stopover in Hong Kong for them? Or go via Canada as someone else did/is?

Not got that far yet, will start researching and see what is the best way to get them there and through Quarantine with as less Stress as possible and the safest way for them to travel. (Stopover or not)

I don't care how much it costs, I won't be going for the cheapest option I will be looking for care and success rates etc.

Also making sure they are with a company that gets them on the plane last and first off and won't leave them sitting on the tarmac in extreme Heat/Cold.

Thank you Snifter and M2M for your understanding on this matter.
