  1. Hi Everyone, posting this on behalf of my parents as they aren't tech savvy :-)

Me and my husband emigrated 4 years ago and found connecting with people slightly ahead of us in a thread and helping those slightly behind us really beneficial.

For that reason I am starting this thread for people that may have submitted there offshore 143 visa prior to June 2016 and those that are about to.

Tip: Use your signature to update your progress dates so we all know lead times on every step:-)

My mum is 58 and my dad 62 so still great ages to enjoy the wonderful scenery and weather WA provides us!

Have a wonderful week everyone and please introduce yourselves :-)

  2. Ok here we go,... Someone give me some positive info!!

I am moving to oz on a perm 176 visa in a couple of months!

my sister is also there and we desperately want our parents to join us ASAP!

So I ring immi and they advise me the 173 an 143 are a good option for my parents,... But two years settled?!?

ive known about this for a while and have researched into what they class as settled and they keep this pretty vague!

When I asked immi if we could apply before 2yrs, say 1?!, they responded with its possible if I'm settled!

i said my child will be in school, husband employed, mortgage, car on finance! Is this settled enough?! And they said it depends on each applicants application!

Also agents won't do it before 2yrs as understandably they don't want it to effect their pass rate!

Has anyone been granted either the 143 or 173 within the 2yrs and what declared you as settled so I can do the same!!!??

Please help!! :-) thank you kate

also if anyone knows of agents that will and can fight on our behalf let me know!

  3. My husband and I are in the very late stages of acquiring our 176 pr visa. It is my parents intention (as luckily they have the funds available) to join us once they acquire the CPV.

My question is as follows, am I right in thinking that as long as we have been there working for 12mths+ that they can then apply as long as they know someone who would be willing to act as their assurer of support? My dads cousin is a PR and has been for many years so I was wondering whether to ask her if she would be willing. This leads me on to my following question...

What does the Assurer have to do and is there any risk to themselves by doing so?

My parents still wish to work once they get out there (mum is a radiographers assistant and dad is a carpenter) and luckily have funds of $825,000.00+ (this is to inc CPV fees) to support themselves.

I just need to know how to explain the assurer role to my fathers cousin so I can hopefully get them out there with us sooner rather than later.

What would the assurer have to do exactly?

Also my mum is a type 2 diabetic, should this incur any problems?

And how long is the CPV currently taking to process for WA perth?

Any info as always is appreciated Many Thanks Kate

  4. I think I am right in saying that you can't apply for an onshore CPV unless you are over 65. For a CPV you have to provide evidence that the balance of your family is settled and the 2 year mark is a guideline. People have certainly applied successfully when their children have been there for less...They must be permanent residents as well, of course.

You can get 6 month or even 12 month tourist visas for the "wait" time though of course they don't carry the right to work etc

Others on this forum will be able to give you more precise advice I'm sure

Oh ok thats interesting, I thought it was set in stone you had to be a perm resident for 2 years before being able to apply. Thank you for the info!

  5. Hi everyone, finding all this info very helpful!

My hubby and I are in the process of applying for perm residence and the thought of my parents not coming over is heartbreaking! Luckily they have the funds to afford the CPV but my questions are as follows:

1/ Am I right in thinking they cannot even apply until after we have been there two years?

2/ If this is the case any suggesteions for visas they could come out on before which would still allow them to work (dad 57, mum 55yrs) and allow them to apply on shore for the CPV?

3/ After reading a few comments on here it sounds quicker to apply on shore for a CPV so this option obviously sounds more appealing, Im just wondering what visa they can have there allowing you to apply for a CPV at the same time?

4/ Also regarding a temp or perm CPV, with a temp could they apply without us having to be there 2 years? and how long does the process take?

Any info would be very much appreciated, Kate :-)
