  1. Hi all, our adult daughter, who suffers various arthritis issues, anxiety and depression is not doing well back in the UK.

she has a son,11, who has ADHD and mild autism,  a daughter, 4, who also has traits of ADHD.

she is looking at coming here for a year, possibly just a tourist visa, for us to assist with the children and help her health but we have no idea what would happen regarding g schooling, we know we would be required to look after their health matters, ie meds etc ut need some direction on the other info.

  2. Hi we have  a son 31 and a daughter 26 who live back in the UK, both have now been classed as disabled due to Chronic Arthritis among other ailments and both are finding it difficult and have asked if they could come and live with us. Our daughter also has 2 children one with Autism and CD AD but is unmarried.

Having looked at the child visa information it seems pretty straight forward but I wanted to know if anyone else has done this for elder children under the disability class and what, if any, benefits or funds they would receive if they came here.

    Thanks in advance

  3. We have been here for almost 4 years now and I am still suffering home sickness and depression, my husband has settled in really well has a god job we live in a beautiful house we have far more than we would have in the UK, except we have no family here and no friends. I have just given up work due to health issues and wanted time to recuperate and I just feel lonelier than ever. I have struggled with my emotions about staying or going for a long time but lately it is at the forefront.

My husband is understanding and suggests I go home for a few months at a time, but then I think what's the point in that I will have to come back and be as lonely again and what kind of marriage would that end up.

At present I have no reasons for staying here, yet my husband has everything.....has anyone else been in this situation and if so what did you do about it?

  4. After moving around alot, as hubby was in the army, and returning back to our home town, it was very apparent we no longer fitted in, so we took the bull my the horns and started the process of moving here. Hubby was lucky and was offered a job so we came over on a sponsored 457 visa. While he has a job and earns 3 times as much as in the Uk, the beautiful home, huge company car and more money left in the bank each week I have struggled. I came out early December and threw myself immediately into finding work, but I am now struggling as no luck on the job front (HR Officer), being stuck in all day every day as no car and nearest public transport 10 minutes drive away, so when christmas day arrived and we spoke to our families it all sunk in, we are here to stay! But if you put that aside I would say yes things are more expensive here, but we are lucky as have the wage to compensate for that plus we live on the coast, if yo want an active outdoor life then this is the place to be.
