Hey Just looking at buying my son a soda stream part of his birthday. However we are returning to Aus in September and wondering whether anyone has successfully taken one and found the Aus canisters and threads are the same as the UK’s…? TIA

....gone onshore? I know I have read various posts about this. However I'm confused as to how they knew when to go off shore for the final visa to be processed?

I am just in process of lodging my visa online for 309/100, presently offshore in the UK. However, hubby now thinks his work will want him to transfer offices by the end of 2014 which will be halfway between the, present, 8-9 months processing time. As I don't fancy remaining in the UK looking after our children on my OWN for 4- 5 months (!!) what temporary visa options will be available to me to then finish process offshore?? We have put together a cover letter with my application explaining work commitments but doubt that will speed up my application! When we first looked at returning to Australia in 2009 waiting times were 2-3 months, can't believe they're now soooo long!

Does anybody know when the High Commission receive their annual visa allocations? My husband and I are quite shocked at how long partner 309/100 visas are now taking. When we originally enquired, over a year ago, we understood the process to take upto 5 months so obviously disappointed to now see they can take upto 9 months! After talking to the Australian Emmigration dept. it was explained that it all depends on the number of visas allocated that year, so therefore we got to thinking, at what time of year does this occur?? Only from the desperate point that we hope the whole application/process will happen quicker than 9 months! We met in Australia over ten years ago and although have lived in the UK for the last nine, we always intended to return for our children to have an Australian upbringing and now our house has sold we just want to get on with it! It looks like we'll be renting a house for longer than we first thought- not to worry, all good things come to those who wait, even impatient ones like me!!
