1. Hi, eveytime i seem to get close to doing skills test somethng changes. My agent was fine with me having NNEB diploma and experience in a large nursery and holiday club setting. My IELTS should be next week but my agent now tells me that NNEB is no longer good enough and you now need a bachelor degree!!!!!!:arghh: NNEB diploma is a 2 year full time course that the skills test asks for, confused!!

Is anyone in the same position or heard of a degree now being needed? There are many people on here that have the same qualifications as me and successfully gained a pr visa. Is it back to school for me?? hope not!!

    Hi

I am in a simular postion......

I had my skills assessed last year by TRA and had a positive results saying I had could work as a childcare centre manager 134111 I have NVQ 3 + 4 in Early years childcare.

But last week my agent has said you now need a degree OR 5 years work experience and as I don't have a degree they will take 5 years from my 10 years work experience which will leave me 5 points short for teh 489 visa!!

I am gutted as I thought we were about to lodge our EOI I still don't totally believe the agent but don't know where to turn to now? Did ring another agent for advise but they said This was rubbish but then said I couldn't get 10 points for family sponsorship!!!

Think most agents are still a little lost with the changes.

Please keep us posted of your findings.

  2. I have the skilled assassment was done last year!! But now being told I need more by agent!!

Hi Mapster, Sorry to here what is happening. Excuse my Ignorance but, when completing skills assessment is this not to reassure DIAC you have the required skills to claim the points you're claiming, or am I way off the mark.
  3. Thing that worries annoys me is that is one email I have enough points to lodge this application please pay next $600 2 days later you no longer have enough points?!! Bit of a con.......

Yes agent is registered...... But I think a complaint is coming their way

Mapster - I recommend you listen to your agent, and not to the posters on this thread.

What constitutes relevant/skilled work experience is one of the least understood aspects of the skilled visa points test, and in my view is likely to an area which will give rise to mass refusals under the new SkillSelect model.

    Best regards.

  4. on skillselect all i can see is:

At least eight and up to 10 years (of past 10 years)

15 nothing to say post qualification experience?!!

Still very confused anyone else got any ideas?

Will be talking to my agent she is ringing me at 7.40am UK time

5. I would be very concerned that my agent was having to call DIAC for advice.

Work experiance is post qualification - applicants who gain a TRA skills assessment that have done a apprenticeship can not use the 5 years training as work experience as points.

I have 2 certificates one for NVQ3 that I did in 2003 and then NVQ4 I did in 2007.... The NVQ3 here is enough to do my job I just did the 4 as it was on offer..... i wouldn't class my self as doing trianing prior to his!!

It is VERY confusing and agent has told me a few wrong things in the past which I have had to look up and then send her the link!!

  6. With the recent changes on the 1st July my agent told us we had 60 points and with sponsorship and we could go for the 489 visa....

We have already had had skills assement done last year by TRA and I have my Ielts

Agent asks us to pay her another $600 to complete and submit the EOI which we did last Wednesday.

Yesterday I get an email attaching the EOI for me to look at but then saying she had to contact DIAC for advise as I do not have a degree and they now want a degree for a childcare manger....

Today I get an email saying she has had a response and that its not good....

They will accept my TRA BUT as I have 5 years work experience I can now only claim 10 points instead of the 15!! :arghh:

The agent is taking my work experience from my last qualification not how many years I have been working in my present empolyment which is from September 2003? This can't be right can it?:twitcy:

I have asked her to call me tomorrow morning BUT wanted to try and find out if this is correct or not? HELP:arghh:

  7. Hi

I know the governmenthave a ceiling of how many people they allow in each year for each jobdescription on their wanted lists

I am just wondering if you can find out how many were granted visa's last year? For each job title?

I am a childcare manager and there is a ceiling of just over 500 this year.....Wanted to know if they hit that limit last year or not....Just wanting to tryand work out what our chances are!!

  8. pass mark is 60 for both 190 & 489 - but you only get 5 points from State Nomination for 190, but you get 10 points for 489 State nomination or family sponsor.

    http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/points-tested-migration-fact-sheet.pdf

    Thank you I

have 50 without sponsorship I have sat the ielts test several times and CAN NOT get a 8 in the reading section so only get 10 for the English rather than the 20 if I had got 8's!!

Hubby is in IT but I can't claim 5 for him as he has no certificates just 16 years experiance........ so guess we are stuck with the 489

  9. Due to the limited number of family sponsored places for the programme year (4200) you could have a long wait for it - but as applications that have been Invited under Skillselect are to get priority over all applications that have been lodged before 1 July 2012.

DIAC have updated the allocation dates and have said that it should take 4 weeks to get a CO for Priority 4, 489 subclass - which is Family sponsored. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/estimated-allocation-times.htm

    http://www.immi.gov.au/about/charters/client-services-charter/visas/8.0.htm

From that information, you could initally lodge your EOI and see if you are invited with the family sponsored, if you are not invited you could change plan and lodge EOI and gain State nomination.

Are you much points short for the 190?

How many points does the 190 need?

  10. Hi

We have decided to go for the 489 family sponsored visa as we wish to live in Perth and if we went for state sponsorship we couldn't live where we want to go...

Agent has said it can take 2 years for the goverment to look at our application....is this true?

My job is on the list of required wokers Childcare Manager.

    Skills assessment done Ilets done......

    What are your thoughts?

    Mapster

  11. thank you everyone for your feedback, I am still looking for info... I had a chat with a lady at work and she has a full time nanny and she pay her $20 an hour x 10 hrs per day x 5 days, she also does her ironing and light shores around the house. So very similar to your arrangement Roary.

However, I identified an lady educator at the nursery my children go to, she is lovely and the kids really like her and so do we, so we approached her on Friday to see if she will be interested to work for us... My main concern is leaving my kids with someone we don't know :frown:This is why I have been trying to find more info on how it works to get into an arrangement with her if she accepts... Otherwise I will probably leave the kids in daycare while I research more.

Ciao for now, I let you know if she accepts...

    Cheers

    Jess

I would ask her.... you got nothing to lose. Good luck

  12. You can validate the visa by going to Australia yes, but it isn't a great idea to delay a move with the provisional visa as you only have a certain amount of time to prove you have lived and worked in a designated area before you are eligible to apply for the permanent visa. If you leave it too long, you might not have chance to qualify for the next stage.

Ok thanks hadn't thought about that.

Another question on this visa can we get free schools for the kids?

  13. Hi

We are looking at the 489 family sponsored visa...

I know it takes a bit longer than the State sponsor.

We want to go to WA and Hubby needs to be able to work any where in Perth and this will allow him to do that.

I'm on the list as childcare manager just wanted to know if we get a visa how long before you have to be in Oz? Can you just validate this visa or not by going into OZ....

Just trying to get as money together as poss.

  14. Your agent is wrong - you get 10 points for Family SPonsored - but family member must live in regional australia - and you must live in regional Australia - but can include Perth.

Nomination by state or territory government or sponsorship by an eligible family member, to reside and work in a specified/designated area (visa subclass 489 only) - 10 points

    http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/index/visas/subclass-489/

Thank you this is what I found too.... AGENTS:mad:

I have just contacted another agent who is now telling me that State sponsorship in Wa means you can live and work any where in Perth..... HONESTLY!!!! Its all a bit confusing to say the least. this site has more reliable information!!!!

  15. Mapster, also if you check out the booklet to the 489 visa and look on the sponsor tab, it tells you what they physically need to do to sponsor you, they have to provide utility bills, proof of their residency, fill out a couple of forms etc. You also have to submit a little diagram to show your family tree to show the link. In my case its my wife's Aunt and Uncle and I'm the main applicant, but this is fine, if you can prove the family link.

Mine are happy to sponsor, as they know we would come over with an income as we have 2 houses to rent out in the UK which hopefully, will cover rent over there. Luckily they have a 4 bed house and there's only 2 of them, so we can stay with them in the short term until we find a rental. So massive help.

I'm now seriously looking at this visa, still have more questions, but am ringing DIAC this morning as I need to make sure I can apply from the consolidated Sol list. If so, think I'm going for it. If I can glean any more information, I'll be sure to keep you informed.

Sounds fab... BUT we just been told by our agent there are no pionts for family sponsorship yet you get 10 if the state sponsor you!! I need the 10 pionts....
