  1. If you get registered with AHPRA then ANMAC only do the modified assessment.

    ANMAC faq below

    http://www.anmac.org.au/faqs#010

If you need to provide evidence of recent skilled employment (under any ANZSCO Code) in Australia or internationally in order to obtain points towards your visa application you will need to provide a professional reference of at least 36 months’ international experience or 12 months’ Australian experience. ANMAC has provided an example that helps to explain the professional reference requirements. (Ali has already posted a link to this above)

  2. Hi, does anyone know the exact cost for APHRA registration ? I saw $150 for application fee and then $220 for overseas nurses. Then it says you have to pay renewal fee at time of applying.

Anyone know the total cost ?

Exact cost is on the back of the form you fill out

    Think it's 520 dollars for agos40

dont forget the criminal check fee as well

  3. OMG that seemed worse than a normal interview. I was talking so fast trying to squeeze in as much information as I could as quick as possible. I even forgot how to pronounce a word half way through (The word 'provocative'). However, after a few questions I did hear the panel (yes 3 people ahhh) compliment me on how well I answered a question which helped with the confidence. I tried to give a few examples along the way. It was 9 questions and they were not exactly what i prepared for but I think I did ok. Technically they only sent the questions five minutes before however, there was a difficulty phoning my mobile and I got an extra 5 minutes to google as fast as I could! At the end they stated they do not have the power to offer me a position however, they compile a report and will present it to the executives who will make a decision on whether a role will be offered. They did say they would be recommending me based on my interview and stated my referee's were very positive too. So... hopefully if a position is available there may be a job on arrival. Ahhhh I did it. I do not want to ever do that again!

From what you have said I think you have got this one, fingers crossed for you

On another note what were the questions like in nature?

  4. Hi guys

Did a quick search under maternity didnt find an answer, if its been answered already apologies in advance

Help please, does anyone know or have experience with the points test on this please

    From DIAC info points test

<<To claim points for skilled employment you must have, in the 10 years before you were invited to apply, at least 20 hours of paid work per week in your nominated skilled occupation and/or a closely related occupation.

    >>

In respect to maternity does "paid maternity" leave count towards it, you have a contract saying you are employed for the required hours and pay slip saying you are paid. Or is the "paid work" mean you have to be at the work face.

    TIA

  5. Here is the current policy:

As employment must be for remuneration, only periods of leave on full pay may be counted as time during which an applicant was employed. That means those periods of extended leave without pay (for example, maternity or paternity leave) might not be counted as a period of employment.

Would maternity pay plus statuary pay combined count as full pay as long as the amounts tally up?

for example in the nhs you can get

8 weeks full pay on maternity

18 weeks on maternity and statuary pay

then 18 weeks half pay effectively

    thanks WR

  6. My hat off to these guys without what they did many more lives would have been lost

    Quotes from Oppenheimer

"Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

It worked! (after the Trinity test)

If atomic bombs are to be added as new weapons to the arsenals of a warring world, or to the arsenals of the nations preparing for war, then the time will come when mankind will curse the names of Los Alamos and Hiroshima. The people of this world must unite or they will perish

  7. Thanks arrumac. I know I can apply online for an overseas passport - my question is can I apply for one and not say I'm overseas, and get it sent to an address in the UK?

Yes you can, it is cheaper that way.

They will ask for a signature.

    Worked from Spain last year.

  8. diploma is recognised and better still having spoken to the ANMC recently they have said that even with diploma they are recognising it as a degree and diac will give appropriate points on new points test ie 15:jiggy:.

This is really good news

    Thanks for this :notworthy:

The info you need is here

AHPRA - Update for international nurses

    >>Applications received after 14 September 2010

Nurses and midwives qualified in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore who have a degree or a diploma and further education and who are registered as a first level nurse in these countries, are deemed to have the equivalent qualification as a practitioner qualified in Australia.

Specifically, this means nurses and midwives who have successfully completed a minimum

six semester (or equivalent) Bachelor degree or Associate degree (or higher) in general nursing at a university in one of these countries, who also has professional licensure as a registered (first level) nurse in the country of education, will be considered to meet the requirement for equivalence to an Australian degree completed at an Australian university.

Nurses and midwives from these countries who have a Diploma of Higher Education or Advanced Diploma at a university or equivalent institution, together with professional licensure as a registered nurse and further professional/post-graduate education, also meet the standard for registration as a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Nurses and midwives with only a diploma qualification from these countries will require assessment of their further education and/or work experience to determine if they are equivalent to an Australian qualified practitioner. <<

  10. Folks, has anyone looked into what will happen to Diploma nurses after July 1st? There are 3 options at the moment - 20pts for a PhD, 15 for a degree, and 10 for an Australian Diploma, an AQF (Whatever that is), or an Offshore recognised apprenticeship. Obviously as Diploma nurses we dont fit into any category. Would we be able to claim 20 pts as at present where (for immigration) a Diploma is considered sufficiently equal to an Aussie degree? Or 10pts for an offshore qualification, or (gulp) no points at all for the Diploma?

I'm not sure about your question and the Nurse Dip being equivalent to an Aussie Degree; good question though.

    However

The changes in July only apply to the following visa's

    Copied from DIAC

    >>Who will the new points test apply to?

It is important to note that the new points test will only apply to one component of the skilled migration program. This change will not affect every type of skilled migration visa and only applies to applicants for the following visas:

    1. Subclass 885 Skilled Independent

    2. Subclass 886 Skilled Sponsored

    3. Subclass 487 Skilled Regional Sponsored

    4. Subclass 175 Skilled Independent

    5. Subclass 176 Skilled Sponsored

    6. Subclass 475 Skilled – Regional Sponsored.

When will the new points test come into effect?

It is proposed that the new points test will apply to applications made from 1 July 2011, unless the applicant is eligible for transitional arrangements.<<

It will not apply to 457 and the ENS 121 which don't need the full Degree.

Yes this will effectively stop the GSM route for many with the Diploma. Not sure why they are doing this but I've heard a rumour that they want Nurses to go down the 457/121 route, the concern was that people getting GSM 175/176's and then not following up with a job as a nurse.

When they realise that the numbers of nurses immigrating falls they may have to change this.
