  1. QUOTE "I also need to get professional references from each employer in the past three years for NMAC/DIAC. So far I've contacted two managers to request this. I'm not telling my current employer about my intended move till the latest possible time, so I've not asked there yet. I have a feeling that waiting for all the references to arrive in the post may take some time. Have others found this?"

    Hi Joeybee

I had a similar situation, I've worked mainly for an agency and although I could get a reference signed by an RN (as the Director of the agency is an RN) they couldnt comment on my competence as a nurse as they obviously hadnt seen me work (they just sent me out to hospitals). I rang ANMAC and they told me that I would need to get references from the Nurse Managers from some of the places I'd worked as an agency nurse.

I sent of my ANMAC application in January...havent heard anything yet so not sure if the references were enough. Maybe email ANMAC explaining your situation and see what they say?

  2. Quick Question-

Im about to apply for registration with AHPRA. Can someone advise me if this is the first step in the process of becoming a registered nurse in Australia and am I correct in thinking you do not require a visa before applying for registration.

My plan is to gain registration and apply for a visa whilst in Australia in 6 months time.

Your right, you dont need a visa for registration with AhPRA

  3. can i just ask what needs to be in the statement of service. I am wanting to start my APHRA application but don't really want to approach my SCN just yet as i've only been in the job 6 months and it will be ages before we will actually emigrate if I actually get a job and a visa sponsorship so was thinking of asking my HR manager to do it and sign my CV for APHRA

also do we only need to pay the assessment fee when applying or the registration fee too

I got a statement of service from the HR dept so didnt need to go through the Nurse Manager. It had to say how long I had been working as a Registered Nurse, it also stated how many hows a week I had worked and had to be signed by the HR manager. However this was when I registered with WA and they were quite specific about what was to be included - not sure how it works with AHPRA sorry x

  4. Hey guys, we're relatively new to the forum and were wondering if anyone could shed some light on what counts as work experience for visas?

My OH is a registered nurse with 2 years post qual experience, we've been waiting (as have a lot of people) for the WA SMP to be released and are absolutely gutted to find out that 7 years experience is required for 176 sponsorship :arghh:

My question is, does anyone know if the 3 years training counts towards the overall work experience? If so it'd mean we could at least try for regional sponsorship.

Already have AHPRA reg, through mutual recognition as got WA reg back in Feb and have positive skills assessment.........

    Many thanks D.

I was wondering about this aswel...but I dont think it'll count as it has to be experience in the occupation you've nominated i.e Registered Nurse...so pre-reg experience prob wont count.......hope someone proves me wrong tho as then I can apply :)
