<p>TRA is the Australian authority who approve your trade and basically confirm that they agree you have enough experience and qualifications needed in your trade to work in Australia. Have a look on <a href="http://www.deewr.gov.au" rel="external nofollow">http://www.deewr.gov.au</a> to get a better understanding. There is also VETASSESS who do the assessing too, it depends on which trade you are getting assessed as to which authority to use. Once you have their approval you can apply for the state sponsorship.</p>

<p>My state sponsorship went through quickly because we had already met with a member of staff from the NT migration department as they were in London last September. She basically interviewed us and we stayed in touch updating her of our progress along the way. As she had already met us and new our case it was approved. I beleive the average waiting time for NT sponsorship is 6 months though. </p>
