1. Hi there, I have a quick question. Basically I have been accepted for my 2nd year visa and the first runs out on the 2nd of july, from what I understand the 2nd year just starts from the same day. Heres the tricky part, some family issues have came up and my initial plan was to go home for 3 weeks as Ive bought a return flight and arrive back on the 28th. Is there a way to cancel my visa and apply at a different time, Im not sure when ill be able to come back out otherwise Id just get a different flight. Thanks Danny
2. Just the guy in the hostel I'm living at has mentioned I may not be able to do it online as its the first time lodging it, looking for someone that may know more or have done it. Yeah I may be leaving the country before then so getting all the summaries and receipts together before hand, cheer
3. Hi there, a quick question regarding tax return. I'm coming to the end of my first year on a working holiday visa and putting together my PAYG summaries, I was just told I may not be able to use E-Tax as its my first time lodging a return and the first has to be done on paper and thereafter can be done through E-Tax. Is this the case or can I use E-Tax like everyone else ? From what I've read lodging by paper takes up to 50 days and online within 12 days. Cheers Danny
4. Try a few agencies, my mate and I done half of our regional in Darwin doing labouring work. We used Top End Consultants which is on the street beside Mitchell street not sure of the name. The other we used was KI Group this is a bit further out you would need a car to get to their office. The mango farms were just starting as we left so maybe not as much farm work around as there was. Also try walking around the sites, theres plenty round about the centre and also new places being built like Zuccoli. We heard of a few people getting work just walking up to sites with people not turning up.
5. I'm currently on a 12 month WHV, I have been traveling with my mate we have worked all around Australia so far, Sydney,Darwin, Brisbane, Gladstone and now Sydney again. We are around half way through our trip and have started looking at super we have paid and also tax. Can anyone tell us how this works with claiming tax and the super back ? Some backpackers have claimed you get all tax back, highly doubtful I reckon, so looking for some advice. Also we are doing the 3 minth regional for our 2nd year, we are going home first then applying for the 2nd year when back in the UK would this make any difference to claiming tax and super. Cheers Danny
6. Hi there, Im currently doing my regional work for my second years visa but Id just like some clarification. My plan is to complete my regional work and travel Australia, I want to then go home for a month or two and then come back over for my second year. I have been told if Im leaving Australia I have to apply for the visa outside of the country and if uts declined I cantappeal would this be right ? Also if I was to apply whilst still in the country i would have to take the visa back to back. What proof should I keep for the work I have been keeping timesheets and will print the payslips off but other than hostel receipts I dont know what else to keep. When lodging the visa do I send the proof in or the forms only and if they ask then send them in. Thanks
7. Hello, Im in Sydney at the moment with my mate weve been here for 2 months and now moving on up to Darwin and driving back round the coast for new year in Sydney. We plan on buying a car in Darwin and get some regional work done. We have been looking at excursions like cage of death were you swim with crocs and other things like Fraser Island, does anyone know of a website to book with or discount website to book a few at one time or would we be best just waiting until we arrive in these places. We walked by a wicked travel shop last night and the guy took us in said its better to book now they go quick all the usual sale tactics just wondering if there any other ways cheers.
8. Thanks i'll check them out. Is there a reason its almost impossible ? We've had a look online, some sites tell you there are people coming and going all the time, a lot of backpackers when its the right time of the season, if theres not much chance of work no point travelling that far up. Heard some bad views on he farm work ie picking fruit, so wanted to try something a bit different. Cheers
9. Hello there, my friend and I are looking at moving up the coast from Sydney to do all or part of our regional work, we have had a look at a few different options one being pearling and would maybe like to try this out. Does anybody have any info on this or any contact details we could use like companies or recruitment agencies. Thanks
10. My friend and I are in Sydney at the moment and about to start looking for work, we got our whitecards, bank accounts and all the PPE gear. I'm a panel beater and friend is a plumber, really just looking for labourer work as we would have to ship all our tools over to do our trades which would then mean not much travelling. We have done some research and registered with Ranstad, Manpower and will do Trojan later in the week. Also checked Seek for vaccines left texts and emails no replies yet though Any info is appreciated Cheers
11. This may sound random but has anybody been or going to Defqon in Sydney, its the full weekend. My mate and I are looking to buy tickets but looking on the site it says no alcohol allowed in the campsite just wondering what happens afterwards if no drink is allowed ? Cheers
12. So me and my mate head out to Australia in under a week flying into Sydney from Glasgow, anybody know of any good pubs/bars/dancings ? Looking online ain't cutting it at the moment lol
13. Thanks for the replies , I was planning on carrying both with me if I didn't hear from them , but ill give them a call anyway. Cheers!
14. I realise its been a while and never replied to anyone but thanks for the replies. Me and my mate done a bit of research and ended up ditching the Bondi idea , we have went with a hostel more central which is called WakeUp! it looks pretty decent and got pretty good reviews , its closer to the night life which is also a plus lol. We bought tickets for a band called Fidlar and Jake Bugg and found that the hostel is pretty close to the venues so alls good so far , weve not arrived yet tho so ill reserve judgement until then. Cheers!
15. Hello , not sure if this is the right section ,I was granted a 12 WHV in Oct last year and leave for Australia on the 1st of July this year , I noticed recently that my passport would expire when I'm in Australia , I contacted the visa department who told me if I were to apply for a new passport I should contact them with the new details and scanned copy of the new passport. I done this and sent off the email on the 2nd of June and got an automated response email the same day however I'm still waiting for confirmation they have accepted the new passport and allow me to travel with the visa on the new passport. Anybody have any idea how long they take to reply or should I now give them a call as its getting closer to my departure date. Cheers.
16. Alright guys , myself and a friend are leaving for Sydney on the 1st of July and looking at hostels in Sydney around the Bondi area , does anyone know of any good hostels ? Also whats the nightlife like ? Where are the places to go ? Been searching on google but would like to hear from people that have been there or going there. Thanks Danny.
17. thanks for all replies , clears some things up for me before I head out! cheers!
18. We arrive in Melbourne around May/June , so I'm just trying to get things sorted , I've been looking online at gumtree for cars in the Melbourne area , a few I've seen for sale have in the description no REGO and no RWC . I'm guessing the RWC is their equivalent of an MOT over here , unsure on what REGO is. Also what about insurance is it the same set up as the UK ? Thanks. Danny.
19. Thanks for the reply Lurkio , probably the same as me then , the Snap-on tool box full of tools lol I'm thinking of leaving it with the parents and getting something sorted when I'm out there , that way I can get the 3 month specified work done and some lazing around the beaches!
20. I'm a Panel Beater to trade and going over around May/ June time. Just looking for some advice regarding tools , I have a snap-on tool box about 42' wide full of tools , have no idea where to start looking with shipping companies and wether I would be better putting all tools in boxes and shipping the actual box over seperate ? I've read people selling their tools and buying over there , but having built mine up over 8 years or so I'd prefer taking most if not all over. I have a collection of hand tools, air tools , hammers and dollies and pretty much all are essential to do my job. Cheers.

22. Alright guys just been granted my working holiday visa . A friend and I are planning on heading out around May from Glasgow , just like to ask how much is a good amount to go with ? Have a figure of £5000 which we hope to get. We both plan on working and both have trades ( me - panel beater , mate - plumber ) and also plan to get the 3 month seasonal done as quickly as possible when we arrive. We looked at flying into Perth as we have another mate living there at the moment but are pretty open to suggestions , most likely will stay in hostels to begin with we're thinking that will be the easiest way of getting our heads down when we arrive and meeting new people in the same boat. Anybody else heading out around that time ? Cheers. Danny.
23. Hello , I applied for my first working holiday visa last Tuesday and got a reply back last night. On the application it asks if you've had any previous convictions which I had to put down yes breach of the peace which was in 2009. The email I got back last night is asking what happened and wanting a detailed statement of the incident and the lead up to , any fines imposed etc. The incident is basically this myself and some friends went on a day trip for a birthday to a place called Millport in Scotland , got drunk and ended up being escorted to cells for shouting and singing at each other. Had to go to court , was found guilty and had to pay a £300 fine. I dont want to sound like a drunken idiot when I right out the statement though lol . Is breach of the peace really going to stop me from being accepted for this visa ? Cheers.
24. Alright guys been a while since I last posted but I've been lurking around! Basically I've been offered a job and would like some info regarding the wages. I'm 24 , a Panel Beater and would be travelling alone , the job offer is in Melbourne and is %52,000 a year plus 9% super , not all that clued up on pensions but I think this is decent from what I've read. I have a meeting with a couple of their representatives in town tomorrow and they've told me to be armed with as many questions as I like. I would like to know some basic stuff like cost of living , are my wages likely to go up and do they work a bonus system. If anyone has any relevant info they could pass on it would be appreciated. Most likely these people will tell me everything's great come on over but I'd like to know if its doable on those sort of wages. Cheers Danny.
25.
I was the same to begin with , it is daunting even just researching because you don't know where to start , most of the time I just lurk on here because there's so many different people with different circumstances so they ask questions you might not have even thought about , I only comment on here when I'm asking about visas n stuff tht is only suitable for you but everyone is friendly and most are eager to help . I'm not out yet I'm saving up at the moment my mates out in Sydney just now am hoping to meet up with him I'm looking to go within the first few months of next year well all saving going well but it's hard going not going out every weekend !
