Asked a mate in the pub last night ,who is living up there .
He said " there isn't any nice areas " ...he said its a shithole ...his words not mine
A mate of mine said Solihull was an absolute s**thole? Is it...I thought it was a nice place to live?

Why is that then Janlo?
i think Liverpool was awarded European City of Arts and Culture.
All the cities and towns have history, beautiful architecture, fantastic restaurants. I guess it what inspires you! :biglaugh:

You'd probably find it's much the same, based on government statistics (which I'm sure are about as reliable as Southern Trains) crime is on par in both countries, some statistics show Australia as slightly less, others show the UK in a better light. I don't think drug and gang crime is increased.
I was actually referring to Manchester in comparison to other more desirable parts of the UK... Northern UK cities and towns are pretty uninspiring places at the best of times.
Northern cities are uninspiring? You don't know what you're talking about. Sorry.

Completely agree. Most of my UK friends were not close to their family....lots fell out with close friends and family so missing them was one thing they didn't have to worry about! I wouldn't say dysfunctional though?

No thanks. You can't get on with your every day life, potter in the garden, nip to the corner shop, walk the dog....on the east coast that sort of restriction goes on for too long....months of heat and humidity.

You don't need both signatures for UK children's passports, just the mothers. I know it's different for the Oz ones...deffo fathers signature required.

It came to nothing as usual. They just seem to guess the weather forecast in the UK.

Does the RRV replace the original PR visa?
-
So if you arrived on the last day before the RRV expires you have to be in the country 2 years before applying for another RRV - covering the 2 year residency rule.....is that right? Its to stop folk holding onto a PR but not really living there I think.

Yeah ive noticed its really cheap. It seems to be that all the time atm but it wasnt january 2014 when i went to london. It was working out £60 but i got a megabus for 30 return. Now im looking and its £20 return. Its the exact same with dublin. Im going to go to one or both next year
Afternoon...are you back home now? Dont see you on here much anymore

They aren't staying in Brisbane, I know your brain probably can't compute why someone would leave but they do lol

You will be fine. uk will stamp 6 months visa...no right to benefits or work. then you renew your uk passports after youve enjoyed your first english cuppa.

What do you mean by contingencies of up to $2500 ?

It's ridiculous if he's not accepting your answers if Australian techniques are different. You've been trained here!
Crazy questions....who is this assessor guy?! Lol

Our fantastic UK teachers need to be approved in Australia? Lol. Sorry

Australia doesn't really have any exams until you get to yr 12. He should get his GCSEs, he won't be "repeating" anything just doing the local thing. He could start GCSE in Sept so hopefully you can get him back ASAP. Schools are pretty good at helping kids catch up I've heard.
But won't they be half way through the gcse's courses in year 11 which is when he will start ? That's quite a lot of catching up but I hope ur right as it's very similar to my situation. He may have to go back year which would be ideal even though he might not think so.

I think I know what the OP means. No job, no neighbours on FB, very young kids not in school. Fresh of the boat as it were.....I also have thought about this and I always think they would find your name somewhere, in your wallet, on your phone details etc then the authorities would contact the passport office where all the details of visa/passport would be...the contact details would be available there I'm pretty sure.
