date applied : offshore 31. august 2010
queue date : april 2011.
citizen sponsored.
hi
just an update. I asked my case officer on progress update amd she has stated she doesn't know if my application will be finalised this year or not since my queue date hasn't been reached yet. this was yesterday.
cheers.
Thanks Sophia. If the website states that they have released applications with a queue date of upto June 30 2011, why is it that applications like yours (and mine) are not being processed? I know how you feel and I've been there. It was hard on both of us and in the end we had to break up. I hope your story has a happy ending, just hang in there.

- Date applied: 20/6/2011 - offshore
- Date on queue: 23/8/2013
- Waiting Period: 3 years and one month
- My sponsors are citizens and all members r in ausse.
Even if up to June 2011 queue date has been released from the queue 18 months back, still there r some outstanding cases ,so that i have to forget this visa because i'm 28 years old and i have to settle in my life too... OHH MY GOD , PLEASE HELP ME
Hi Nirosh,
So did you end up contacting IMMI using the contact form? Have you received a reply?
Cheers,
LB.

I asked my case officer and she said shes waiting on canberra. I feel for all of us since we're in the same boat. maybe a bit more empathy for offshore applicants for obvious reasons. last year I was also told verbally that asylum seeker processing was a priority. that put a little more perspective on things. there's always someone else worse off.
Hi Sophia,
I'm not sure if you have mentioned this already, but do you mind telling us what your queue date is and when you lodged your application ?
thanks.

Thank you for ur update lazybones1987... i lodged an application(RRV 115) for an Other Family visa outside Australia.. Can i use the same inquiry from because 115 category is excluded here.
There is no harm in trying. I'm pretty sure both Offshore and Onshore applications are processed at the Perth office.

On 9/12/2012 velasco quoted "queue date up to 28 February 2011 are now being considered for final processing"
On 2/1/2013, lazybones1987 update "queue date up to 30 June 2011 are now being considered for final processing"
for than 18 months no moments in the queue ... hope fully there will be a moment
Hi Nirosh,
Have you tried contacting them to get an update on when your application could be processed? http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/forms/email/eform-processing-centres-child-other-family.htm

More bad news people. Even after so many complaints about the small number of visas allocated to the remaining relative category, IMMI have decided to further reduce the number of visas for the 2014-2015 year to 500 places. This figure includes aged dependent and carer visas.

I would STRONGLY suggest that all those in the same boat visit (in person) their local FEDERAL MP and ask them to make the same representation.
I emailed my local MP and I have not received any reply. Given that I'm not an Australian citizen, do you think the MPs would care about such issues or even bother listening to non-citizens?
-
Does anyone have any updates to share? Any progress for those who have been asked to lodge their Assurance of Support?
-
Looks like Scott Morrison is set to become the new Immigration Minister. Here's hoping for a change for the good.
-
I might be able to help with some information here. My brother in law is also in the same boat.
Brilliant post Ryan. I'm also interested in getting some info (if they manage to give any) using the FoI act, let me know if I can be of any help. As you've said, the 'queue' system is a complete farce and has no relevance to how they process applications. Like many, I too have paid AoS and have not been granted my visa. The bond doesn't 'activate' until the visa is granted which means I don't earn any interest on it.
We need to find more people who are in the same boat and make our voices heard so a change can be made. This can be done by the following ways:
Making a complaint on the IMMI website: http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/forms/services/services-form.htm
Contacting the minister of immigration: minister@immi.gov.au
If anyone can suggest other methods (in addition to ryanshaw's) suggestions, please share with us.

Have you heard anything lazybones? they aren't going to make me redo my meds and checks a third time are they? They expire in jan
Hi Sophiavee,
No, they didn't respond to any of my queries. Unfortunately yes, you will be asked to do a third round of meds and police checks once they expire. Have you applied onshore or offshore?
-
Yes, no pattern. As I saw ppl apply onshore in year 2012 already granted visa
Yeah, there is no pattern in the granting of visas. I have come across a few people who have applied for this visa after I did and they have all received their visas. This entire "queuing" system is a farce. Just talking about it makes my blood boil.
-
THats what I thought but the australian immigration lady that explained the entire process said they shuffled numbers for countries around so they have some sort of country system as well it seems
Interesting, I've never heard of a quota within a quota. As far as I understand, applications are processed as they are lodged and given a global queue date. Applications are then finalized using this queue date.
But saying that, this is IMMI and any idiocy is quite possible.
-
Hihi,
My queue date is May 2011. And I already paid AOS. They said I don't have any pending doc. Just have to wait a place.
But the letter stated that: they are "unlikely" to proceed my application within 13-14 year...
That is quite interesting. They are taking the AoS and are not finalizing the application (this is down right fraud IMHO). The bond is activated only when the visa is granted. The money is sitting there without earning any interest.
Some people say that my application won't be finalized this year and some say that since I've paid AoS, it usually means that it will be processed. Don't know what and who to believe.

Hi lazybones1987,
So did you receive an official letter from DIAC for any updates? I got the letter in early of July.
Maybe no news is a good news, your application will be proceed this year.
Hi Instam, I emailed them a number of times, but I've never received a reply to any. Calling the general IMMI line is useless as they recite the information from the website.
Do you know the place in this year (July 13-14) was released or not yet?I was told to further proceed my application in Jan. I am wonder we need to wait any vacancy until Jan 14.
DIAC has allocated 585 visas to the Family Category for this financial year (2013-2014). Only a small portion (don't know what the number is) is allocated to Remaining Relative.
If there isn't a government change in the elections this year, the number of visas for 2014-2015 will be announced in June 2014.
-
is it worthwhile going through with this visa or should options be looked at?? My worry is if this queuing means another two years of waiting
I'm on the same boat as you are. The other visa options I have (say the 189) could take upto 12 months if I apply now. So, I'm in a dilemma if I should wait for another 12 months for the remaining relative visa or if I should apply for another visa.
-
Hey guys,
If you haven't done this already, please submit your complaints regarding the drastic reduction of visas to:
http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/forms/services/services-form.htm
http://www.minister.immi.gov.au/tonyburke/contact-details/
Making them know about our concerns is the only way about bringing a change.

Hi, I am new user here too. I was contacted by CO in Jan 13 to further proceed my case. And I have done all requirements in Mar 13. But the CO told me they are waiting internal confirmation by Centerlink. I got a letter from DIAC in July 13 that my application cannot
finalised in last financial year ( 2012-2013) and the reduction of the 115 visa cause my application delay.
Moreover, they are "unlikely" to proceed my application within 13-14 year too. Bump!!!What a bad news.
Hi Instam,
Welcome to PIO. Have you been given a queue date? Were you asked to pay your Assurance of Support?
-
Hi I'm a new user here. I applied for 115 in aug 2010 got a queue date of April 2011 and initially when I had applied I was asked for meds and police check then jan 2013 asked to do another lot of meds and checks. Did these and handed to global health on feb 8 and now im still waiting. I got an email from diac in June saying my application may be considered for finalisation in a subsequent year but with such poor numbers for this stream in global processing, will it really be finalised this program year? Or is it better to apply for another visa class
Hi Sophiavee,
Were you asked to pay the Assurance of Support (AoS) as well? Like you, I've also been asked to do my medical and police clearance checks, and also pay the AoS. But this was some time in May and I haven't heard from them since.
-
Nothing has changed. The processing has been stuck on 30 June 2011 for more than 6 months.
Hi Velasco,
Is it your sister who has applied for this visa? Does she have a case officer and a queue date?
-
Even more sad news:
Applications for Remaining Relative or Aged Dependent Relative visas with a queue date up to 30 June 2011 have been released from the queue. These applications will be considered for final processing as a place in the Migration Program becomes available.Once the cap is reached for the visa places that are available in the current year, applications that have been queued and released for final processing, but not yet finalised, will be considered for a place in a subsequent year.
It is currently estimated that lodged Remaining Relative and Aged Dependent Relative visa applications, that have not yet been assessed, are likely to take up to 16 years to be released for final processing (calculated from 1 July 2013).

Does anybody knows will I have problem if I do not have Visa label in my passport when live my country or in Dubai ?
You shouldn't have any issues, just print a copy of the grant and take it with you.
-
Any updates from anyone? None of my emails have been answered and no updates on my application either.
-
Hi guys
What is it means?
" The 2013-14 planning levels do not include the additional 4000 places for family members of humanitarian entrants as per the Expert Panel's recommendation."
http://www.immi.gov.au/media/statistics/statistical-info/visa-grants/migrant.htm
I'm taking a guess here, it probably means family members of those people who came to this country under humanitarian reasons (such as refugees) are not included in this category.

The most shocking piece of info is the following:
I can't understand how applications with a queue date of Jan 2010 are in "final processing" only now. There are so many individuals in this thread who have a queue date of Apr 2011 and had their visas granted more than a year ago. It just doesn't make any sense. Meanwhile, I paid my AoS of $5000 more than a year ago and it has been sitting there, accumulating no interest (for me at least). This is completely unfair and unjust. I have a queue date of early 2011 and going by their latest estimates, it could take another 3-5 years before my application is granted!!
I'm thinking of seeking legal advice and also see if this issue can be raised to gain the governments attention.
