Hopefully someone out there can help me with my dilemma please…. My husbands 457 visa is due to expire this coming September and We have been exploring options to continue working in Australia with the same sponsor had for the last 3.5years, BUT: 1. Existing 457 ANZSCO occupation does not reflect his role and it never has !! …as the immigration company and company sponsor applied for the wrong ANZSCO occupation category and we only found out once the visa was formally issued......and my company said not a problem / just a formality ! 2. Not looking to spend all our days here in OZ, just another 12 months to finish out his project, so happy to simply renew 457 rather than go for PR. 3. If We go for a new 457 then should make sure the ANZSCO occupation is correct this time …… So my questions are: · If I go for a renewal or new 457 with the same employer, will IMMI.GOV want to check that I have been fulfilling the duties of the ‘wrong’ occupation, resulting in the cat being let out of the bag so to speak ! · Can I apply for a new visa under a different ANZSCO occupation i.e. the right one for my experience ?? · Can I apply for a new 457 before my existing one run out, or would my new 457 only be issued on expiry of my existing one ? Can you have more than one 457? · Really want to take a new 457 now and make myself legitimate. · If I go for PR I will not be able to use my wrong occupation as defined on my 457, as I will need to be assessed ? Really would appreciate any advice be we speak to the companies HR dept ************************************************** ***********

Thanks for thatpaul1perth it's great to hear the positive:-) hoping to get up there in next two weeks. Find out package today- better be good. the problem with the city is houses equivalent to our$700 pw in brisbane bayside are $1000-1200?!?!?! And then some to get into school catchments. I was reading how Rudd was going to offer tax incentives to work there but knowing our luck if he gets in it'll only be for newbies!, janine the party queen where do you holiday from there? I love living here in SEQld as so many destinations for short breaks but apart from parks is there anywhere local. Flights to Bali broome alice etc seem very dear on sky scanner :-(

thanks for this Janine. How do you rate palmerston to Darwin? We are not too bothered about being central but would defo like a child friendly suburb and a newish house. Durak seems to have best primary school in palmerston. Though yet to visit them personally! Is there anything you really miss - I find the thought of having no Myers/des very odd. But maybe independent shops make up for it or maybe I need to stock up before coming! Thanks for any further advice

hi after being settled in Brisbane for 2.5 years my husband is being moved to Darwin. As we are on a 457 we have little choice (we are at the point they can sponsor us for PR) and fly in fly out doesnt seem sensible without the family network of support. the children (7 and 5) will be sad to say good bye to school and friends but we look at it as the next adventure though maybe not a permenant one! We have been researching areas and would like more opinion on the palmerston/darwin debate please. I would like to know which suburbs are best to avoid sandflies. at the moment we seem to have narrowed it down to Stuart Park, Nakara, Nightcliff, Durack, Leanyer - mainly due to school info recieved- any opinions? I am a teacher so will need to register in the NT and hope to get supply - is anyone teaching up there? thanks in advance I look forward to chatting to some new friends on here cheers Helen
