  1. Is this you? The Consortium of British Pensioners are fighting to stop the unfairness of 'frozen pensions'

    Quoted from https://www.facebook.com/#!/pensionjustice?fref=nf

ICBP are always looking for personal stories to be highlighted in the British press? Could it be you?

Did you move overseas to work for a British company and further the interests of Britain?

Did you return to the UK because of a frozen pension?

Are you prepared to be interviewed by the press ?

    Please contact us at chairman@pensionjustice.org

  2. Regarding UK pesions. There's a huge campaign going on to 'unfreeze' pensions http://pensionjustice.org they have been fighting for a few years but really stepping it up with petitions media is starting to get behind it. It's crazy that your pension us frozen if you go to Australia Canada South Africa etc yet if you emigrate to an EU country like Spain who don't even speak the same language your pension isn't frozen !!!! We should all get behind this. Well I already have :-)

  3. Hi Phoebe and Happy New Year to you!

Just wondered how your recuperation is going? Hopefully all good!

Sorry, I can't answer your question, but I too would love to know peoples thoughts!

I was lucky enough to visit my family in Sydney again in October(that made 3 trips in 12months!) and then a last minute surprise they came to us over Christmas! I was like the proverbial dog with two tails, so excited to get all four grandchildren together.

When you start adding the costs of flights etc, it makes the visa seem a bit more realistic (no nicer, just more realistic!)

Having a a few health problems at the moment, so I am glad that I have made the trips when I did.

Again, hope your health is getting better and you will soon be going back to see your Harry etc

    Cheers Pam

Happy New Year to you too Pam.

Sorry to to hear you are having problems :-(

Recouperating well from Op but.......because they have replaced the missing disc it has now caused more damage to the one above so have to go through it all again!!! Nerve root injection last week didn't help so just waiting for my next appointment hopefully with a date for next Op. Had planned to go over for Harry's 3rd birthday in April but it's not happening now can't believe it's a year since they were here and haven't seer. The girls for 2.5 year......

This citizenship just got me thinking if it's worth doing at our age maybe someone can help us both.

  4. Ooh Phoebe, you sound so patient (which is what you have been for a while) haha. :wink:Hope you are now out of pain. Bet you are excited about next year, after all this time. Don't know about gaining weight though, but perhaps you lost too much. Enjoy your ham sandwiches!

    Carob

I lost 2 stone very quickly far too much for me!!!

The bones dont start to fuse till 12 weeks 12 months for full recovery. Not out of pain yet but that's where the Osteopath comes in. Im going in the right direction that's the main thing.

  5. Hi golks

Im almost back in the land of the living :-)

After 2 cancellations I finally had my surgery on 1st October where they replaced a disc in my neck long recovery and had some set backs with pain level but X-ray showed everything is where it should be and further MRI arranged for 16th December to make sure. Started seeing an Osteopath on Friday who can hopefully help with the pains (with the blessing of my Neuro Surgeon) and even better news I can actually eat normal solid food as long as I take my time so weight going back on slowly. I forgot how good a simple ham sandwich tasted :-)

All in all I'm in a much better place than I was 2 years ago and as soon as I have this pain under control I'll be booking our long awaited flights hopefully in the first half of 2014.

Hope you are all doing well.

  6. Hi,

I have a question regarding the CPV. My husband and I are on a 457 visa and my only other sibling is here to but on a permanent 175 visa - he's been here nearly 3 years. He is sponsoring his in-laws on a cpv. Now, my parents are wanting to come as we are their only 2 children - they currently in the UK.I know I won't be able to sponsor them as we are on the temporary visa but would my brother be able to sponsor them? Are you limited to the amount of prople you can sponsor?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi

I'm not sure if you are limited on how many people you can sponsor, but my daughter & SIL went on a 457 applied for PR after 2 years and got it by proving they were 'settled' (job, house etc) they were then eligible to sponsor us.

    Hope this helps.

  7. Hi Genie1 we are in the same position. We are also waiting for a case office for a 173 visa. 15 months at the end of this month and still waiting. Have just put our bungalow up for sale with fingers crossed. We just want to get our CO so we can do medicals and police checks. Patience is a virtue so they say!!!!

So can you not front load medicals now? Sorry been out the loop a while.

  8. You must be so relieved to have the op behind you Phoebe. Just take very day as it comes, there will be ups and downs, but in the long run I'm sure it will be worth it. Then you can go to Aus.

I have to say I don't know what your problem was, as I only joined this group a few months ago, so hope I have said all the right things!

best wishes for a very speed recovery. Carolyn x

  9. Hi Phoebe

Have been offline for the last ten days and am just catching up with Poms. Was delighted / dismayed/ delighted for you on reading your recent ups and downs. I have all fingers and toes crossed that October 1st will see you finally getting your operation and that it will go well. Thinking of you. Kath.

Op finally done 1st October sent home to recouperate....long recovery but thankgod it's over after 27 months :swoon:

The only way now is up....up and away

Thankyou all for your good wishes.

    Phoebe

  10. Had another pre-Op yesterday for neck surgery & spoke to the Neuro surgeon it's all looking good for this Tuesday  long recovery afterwards but I want to make it positive.

Once I'm recovered hubby & I will taking a very long overdue trip to see our family....missed them so much

After my problems this past 2 and half years I am more convinced that I want to move out there.....hubbys also talking a lot more positivly about it, it's always been about the money with him which lets face it is a huge chunk for anyone :swoon:.

I've lost track of times for visas etc can anyone tell me if there is much (if any) difference in the times for 173 and 143? We have talked about going for 173 initially to spread the cost.

    Thanks

    Phoebe

  11. Oh Phoebe.........aaarrgghh!

Looks like I jumped the gun again...........what an absolute **** thing to happen!

Next time it's scheduled, I'm not sending you good wishes, maybe then it will all go ahead ok!!

    Thinking of you sunshine!

Rang me later in the day given me 1st October at different hospital....never know 3rd time lucky but not holding my breath!!

    Phoebe x

  12. Caro, thanks for your good wishes. Date of final move is dependant on sale of the house. Housing market is perking up a bit so hopefully we can sell ours with not too much stress.

Our decluttering is going well. I'm now on nodding terms with the boss of the local tip, and soon I guess we'll be discussing the weather and the cricket (hasn't it gone well?) I have sworn that I will never, ever put anything in any loft again. A complete waste of energy. Apart from suitcases and Christmas, decorations which I could reach without getting into the loft, we have never brought anything down from the loft and used it again. (The only possible exceptions being children's buggies etc, and we are well past the time when they were needed.)

    Regards

    Rowley

Need to show hubby the 'loft' bit lol.

    Good luck with everything

  14. Update.

I have been discussing Contributory Parent (subclass 143) and Aged Parent (subclass 804) visas with my colleague Sarah White today.

Sarah mentioned the Contributory Aged Parent visa (subclass 864) as a pathway that is not used so often as the subclass 143 option.

She also said that processing times are less for the 864 than the 143, at typically 9 to 12 months, rather than 15 to 18 months.

As for the subclass 804 Aged Parent visa, you must be onshore to apply for a Contributory Aged Parent visa - and there are appeal rights available in the event of an adverse decision (eg if the settled sponsor issue is problematic).

    Best regards.

Can't get a proper look at the 864 ATM just had a quick glance. It appears to have the same criteria as 143/173 or am I missing something?

  15. hi all, i had a question. [its probably already mentioned in the post before, but there are so many post. :) ]

I have applied for PR Visa to ACT. i have been assigned a CO and are in the last but one, final leg of this journey. the PR Visa was applied for My husband, myself and my kid. I want to take my mom with me too. She is not dependent on me, as my dad is working in a different country. Yes, she can stay with him however, i would like her to be with me until my dad can migrate to Aus too.

    Questions:

What are the options for taking my mom along with me when i make the move to Aus?

Would i have to wait a minimum period of time before she can come with me?

    Hi

It's my understanding you will have to be 'settled' for 2 years before you can sponsor your parents and they would have to have a CPV173 (temporary visa) or CPV143 (permanant visa). Hope this helps.
