    advice

Hi, I phoned this agency in Edinburgh and you were right, what they did say was that my wife had two options, first she could apply for a 189 visa as long as she got 8 on each of the four sections in her IELTS, that would give her 60 points. This is without having her experience recognised. Or a 487 visa with 60 points. With your experience what do you think of these options, are they likely to succeed. Or does her work experience need recognised regardless of what visa you go for. Thanks again for all your help and advice, G.

Hi, I got back to them and they say my wife could go with a 190 state sponsorship visa to South Australia or ACT. The only thing that still bothers me is the fact she hasn't worked in her line for 6 years. I'm going to meet them soon to go over everything, and get it in writing. Thanks for your help. Will let you know how it goes, cheers.

    advice

Hi everyone, I recently phoned a local agent about migration to Australia. I mentioned the fact that my wife has not worked for 6 years as an Industrial Designer, and he said that was ok because they just look at the last ten, so we would have 4 years. I know they have relaxed on the 12 out of the last 24 month rule but what is the rule as we have been told previously that the 12 month rule still applies. It's the same old story we don't know who to believe. If anyone can give us what is required we would be very grateful, cheers.

    job advice

Hi, can anyone help me with some information on what website would be best for finding product design jobs. I have registered with the usual ones such as Reed recruitment, Marvin, recruit.net etc, but get sent jobs of no connection with product design. I have been looking for a while and am losing the will to live If anyone can tell me as I need a sponsor to get my visa as I haven't worked in the profession for a while due to the birth of my second child, so can't go down the usual routes. I have a good resume having worked with Hotpoint for 8 years in Peterborough, designing home products which all went into production and are in the shops now, as well as expelaire fans and B@Q range of showers. Many thanks for any help you can give me, cheers.
  8. Not sure yet, probably South Australia or Victoria.
  9. Hi everyone, just after some advice about type of visas and costs. My wife has recently been asking questions about what type of visa she could attain. She was told from Global Visa that she would be eligible for a state sponsorship even although she hasn't worked as an Industrial designer for five years. We know that the rule of 12 months out of the last 24 has been dropped, but is the state visa the correct one for her. they also said that the said visa was being processed in about six months, and the total costs for all there work would be £5,000 pounds. Is this the going rate, or is it easy enough to do the application yourself. If anyone can help us I would be most grateful, cheers.

    EOI advice

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice on the skill select system. My wife is a Industrial designer to profession with eight years experience, great cv with all designs going into production with hotpoint. I have been told that the rule that you have to have worked for 12 months out of the last 24 has been done away with which if true would make my wife eligible for a visa as she has been out for five years with our youngest child and really wants to return . My question is what do we have to do to register on the skill select. Do we have to have an assessment and elts first before registering, and if so where do we do them and what are the costs incurred. I take it we can do this without an agent or is it recommended. the next question is what kind of visa do we go for, and what is the time scale involved between registering and gaining our visa, or is it down to luck if an employer wishes to sponsor my wife. I look forward to hearing from you with some solid advice. Cheers.
  11. Hi I am looking for a large electrical company who would be looking to sponsor myself on a 457 visa as this would appear to be the only way in for me , as I am over the cut off age.I am presently working on the new aircraft carrier being built in Govan for BAE systems, or anything in construction would do. My wife is an Industrial designer but can,t apply because she has been out of her profession for over two years, but would love to get back in to it now that the children are school age. So if any one could help us with work or any advice on how to gain our visas we would be much obliged, Cheers.
  12. Hi Kate, thanks for your reply, yes I've asked lots of agents and most of them have said there is no way in , and a few have said that the 457 is the only route. It's such a chance to take selling up everything to go on a temp and then you've got the private medical expense. If only my wife could get a sponsor as an Industrial product designer, but she hasn't worked for four years due to the birth of our son. But she doesn't qualify for a sponsor, or so I'm told. I didn't think it would be so hard, but there you are it is. A lot of agencies have given us such bad advice you begin to lose faith in what they tell you. Anyway if I can find an employer to take me on as an unlicensed electrician then I could then get my license when I'm out there. How's the cost of living out there, and house prices. Thanks again Kate, speak soon, bye.
  13. Hi again thanks very much for your reply, we didn't know about the private health care, it sounds quite expensive for the cover. The next thing is trying to find a sponsor, I don't suppose it will be that easy. The other thing is weather to sell the house here or rent and see how things go, what with the exchange rate and the house prices here. Thanks again it's nice to know other people have taken the plunge, bye for now Ger.
  14. thanks for your advice, how much are agencies charging for this service. or can you do it yourself, do you know if you are free to leave an employer at any time, or run the risk of him falling out with you. I always look at the worst case scenarios sorry. Thanks again.
  15. Hi everyone, can anyone help me with some advice about the 457 visa. I am an electrician and I was wondering would I be taking a big chance if I was to find a sponsor and sell up and move my family over to oz, with it being a temp visa. Is there anyone out there that has made such a move, I would be grateful to hear from you. Also how easy is it to find a sponsor. One last thing an agency has told me that you don't have to have your assessment to get in on a 457 is this true. Thanks.
