  1. I’m sure that anyone looking to return to the UK will have spent a long time agonising over whether it is the right thing to do. It’s a gamble and scary, but if it helps, I genuinely don’t recognise the dreadful place that is sometimes described on PIO. I choose to live here as despite the economic problems (and there are many) I am happy, and more importantly so is my family. I could list a whole load of reasons, but it would just be my list and not much use to anyone else I guess. No-one knows where the economy will be in five or ten years time but that is true for any country and I think you sometimes just have to trust your own instincts and get on with things.

It probably does help to have a plan though, particularly as some areas of the UK seem to be struggling more than others. Lots of research before you return may be the key and may make the difference between settling or pingponging. No matter how long you spent in Australia, you return as a different person or family and it may be difficult to slot straight back into the life you remember or hope for. If you can allow for that in your plans it may provide a bit of a head start in terms of settling.

All the very best to everyone currently in the process of MBTTUK. Don’t believe everything you read about the state of the country - the weather is still unpredictable, the politicians are scary, and jobs are less secure, however millions of people still happily choose to live here. Tx
