  1. We have completed the test in March and awaiting the ceremony. We are going to Europe next month and just wondering if I am correct that our visas(PR) are still valid until we have attended the ceremony? In other words no return visas to be applied for etc. I will contact the dept to confirm but anyone got a quick answer? Cheers

  2. Wife works in private healthcare and currently very quiet at work.

Health insurance seems to be one of the first savings made when things get tight!

Public system might be getting busier though.

Best to find a job from over East prior to moving, if you can.

  3. I have an employer that has 14 months of work that they need me for.

This is tied to a 14 month contract of full time work (likely renewed later on).

They are a large company and have given out 457s to others, but usually for standard full time positions within the company.

I am trying to work out the best visa for the employer to nominate me for?

For a 457, do they need to guarantee 4 years or work, or would this be the right visa for 14 months of work?

The 457 can be for a period of 14 months rather than the traditional four years.

You may if your employer allows apply for a 186/187 permanent visa on arrival(Approx. 3-6 months to get), not sure how immi would take it if the employer has only stipulated 14 months on the 457 though.

Or, you could apply independent of your employer once here on the 457, based on your skills if you reach the points required.

The 457 has its drawbacks, but is a quick way of entering Australia.

  4. We are living in WA on a 457 four year visa. we arrived nearly three months ago and love it here. we are really keen to make life more permanent now we are finally here and I have spent quite a bit of time figuring out the best path forwards.

Life feels a bit unsure...the boss appears happy with my partner but his manager seems determined to cause problems and I am worried this could impact on his future employment.

Im so confused by the options open to us, and unsure if any provide a bridging visa.

As a chef, my partner qualified in July 2011 and has not had a TRA skills assessment. We are unsure if any employment prior to this counts towards his career.

Im sure many people have felt in a similar position and I would really appreciate any advise on the best visa options which we could put in place ASAP that may offer more security

    thanks in advance

    .

Have a look into the RSMS pr visa or the ENS direct stream if eligible? A migration agent will fill in the blanks for a small fee or free consultation. WA is considered regional whether you live in the CBD or in the countryside.

Try get a second opinion if one agent says its not possible, to be completely sure.

  5. I have a company who wants to sponsor me in WA, I don't have the qualifications I need and cant afford the course out here its 7,500.00 dollars, Im looking to go back to England to do my studies and come back out. If I need a diploma in business or management what is this the same as in England??? Any ideas or help please

Why not find an online course based with a provider in the UK, study time for a level 5 diploma in business studies or similar approx 6-12 months depending on how many hours you put in? Cost less than £1000, nearer to £600-700. Not sure if that will be taken into account for sponsorship as you usually require to have the post qualification experience.

  6. My employer is willing to sponsor me under the RSMS (187) to fast track PR.

I am currently on a 457 with almost one year completed. Rather than waiting for the second year with my employer and going the ENS PR route. Is there any reason why I should not go down the RSMS 187 Direct pathway?

As it will be an onshore application, no skill assessment required, Irish national so no IELTS required. Cost wise seems no different to ENS, only difference jumping out at me is the two year tie in with my employer, which is not an issue.

Is it a viable option to gain PR rather than the insecurity of the 457 visa?

Also what would be a good ball park figure for MA fees?

    Any thoughts advice appreciated.

    Cheers

  7. Thanks Moirclan. I have also been advised to look at Joondalup itself, Ashby and Tapping. Does anyone know much about these suburbs and schools in the area?

Approximately how much is private schooling for a 10 and soon to be 15 year old?

Approx. $4-6k per child per year
