My daughter lives in Croydon, Victoria.
Croydon is a nice area and I love shopping in the main street, lots of lovely tree lined streets in Croydon.
Croydon in part of the City of Maroondah and a browse through their website should give you an idea of the area.

Known as a Road Train and used mainly on the open roads of the outback and yes road trains are used to transport everything from livestock, iron ore, oil and general freight particularly over long distances lasting days or weeks at a time (note the sleeper cab).
A browse of the internet (Google) under Road Trains Australia will show images of various road trains and the freight they carry.

Never intended to return to Ireland or the UK when I left for Australia in 1964.
Lived in various parts of Australia and served overseas with the Australian Defence Force.
Now retired and living the dream.

Interesting to read the comments on how the UK has changed after being absent for 10 years.
I have been in Australia for 55 years and so I reckon there would have been a few changes since I left under the £10 Assisted Passage Scheme.

If it did occur and I repeat IF - I would be in disagreement, my reason being that they should not be singled out and placed in a group according to their race; they should parade with their respective service and then according to their Unit/Ship/Squadron.

Matt, I take it from the topic heading that you are a serving police officer and so I reckon you ought to use your investigative skills and do some research.

Update: <<<<............But the good news? I am entitled to a part pension and will be receiving the first arrears payment (Oct 6th - 17th) on Friday. I will also be receiving a Pensioner's Concession Card, so I hope the concessions in this part of NSW are the full monty, so to speak.:jiggy::jiggy::jiggy:
I am over the moon. This will make such a difference, as the tanking pound has really hammered me.
Well done on your perseverance with CentreLink, I have also been there and done that with CentreLink but in comparison to you I/we had an easy run given that we have lived and worked in Australia for over 50 years.
It's not only the part pension but the concessions also come in handy; I think from previous discussions within this thread, not all States offer the same concessions and I think we do OK in Victoria.

You seem to know the area well, the missus is working in mulgrave so trying to stay as close as possible
do you happen to know anywhere a little closer to there?
A tradie travelling by train to the CBD is not the norm unless I guess you are working on a big city job, all of the tradies I know have their own utes/trucks and work for themselves and charge like wounded bulls.
Anyhow, if you were to live in Mulgrave you would have to catch a bus to Glen Waverley Railway station to get to the CBD and I guess the same is going to apply no matter where you settle, unless you have a car and then you can drive and park at the nearest Railway station.
Choices around Mulgrave would be the suburbs of Glen Waverley, Mount Waverly, Wheelers Hill, South Vermont and Rowville, however your wife would definitely need a car to compute to Mulgrave as public transport is virtually non existent.
In comparison to Boronia and Ferntree Gully properties in the suburbs of Glen Waverly, Mount Waverly, Wheelers Hill and South Vermont would cost more to purchase. Mulgrave is a mixture of residential/commercial/industrial and would not be my preference.
Given that your wife works in Mulgrave and you are going to being computing to the CBD I reckon you are going to end up being a two car family.

It's all to do with personal preference and I'm not knocking Boronia or Ferntree Gully but if I were looking in that area I would perfer The Basin which is next to Boronia and FTG.
Other suburbs in that area that I would prefer would be Croydon, Montrose or Lilydale.

There are some fantastic lawn bowls clubs throughout Australia including Queensland.
The size of the clubs range from small where you will be immediately become known to all the other members to large clubs with poker machines offering restaurants, entertainment and other sporting facilities - the choice is yours.
I belong to a smaller club and have always played on grass greens, however many clubs now play on synthetic which takes a bit of getting used to if you have only played on heavier grass greens, especially if you have older bowls.
