  1. Hi , we used Ian harrop but it was a long time since. He is good. Been here in Oz 2 years now. To be honest we could really have done the visa ourselves, but it was good having someone fill all the paperwork in. They are good but we paid through a package we had through our finance agent. If you have a complicated application worth having an agent.

All the info is provided through immigration and if you keep up to date with it all, you'll be ok. There are alot of people who can help on here. Save your pennies for when you get here. You'll certainly need your dosh when you 1st move over. All the best, keep calm, its worth all the stress. Fab place to live is Australia, fantastic life for your kids. Good luck. xx

  2. There's not a lot of things missed really. My friends I miss and Asda - cheap food and drink. My 8 year old misses smart price meatballs - Bless. We've been here 2 years now next month, where has the time gone ???? And gotta say this has been the best life changing experience we could have made. Love it on the Gold coast.

  3. Hi, we recently moved to Helensvale and we love it. Its pretty well located to everything and got everything you need. Also beach is only 10-15 mins away, big retail parks only 10 mins away but also has a Westfields in the centre of Helensvale. Close proximity to the highway gives you easy access to south Goldcoast and then up to Brisbane, which you're looking at a journey time of 45 minutes , granted that is with very little traffic. Schools are good, facilities are great, well developed, so not going to be much building going on in the area. Has its own train station.. We love it but then again I am a little biased being Helen of Helensvale.... lol

Good luck with your move. x

  4. Been here a year now. My kids although only 6 & 7, absolutely love it here. Always outside playing. Love school. made lots of friends. Have recently bought our own house with pool, could we ever give our kids that in the UK ??? NO..... They've both learnt to swim and love the pool. We live in a cul d sac, loads of kids, they love it. Could never afford this in UK.

My kids very rarely even want to speak to the relies on the phone, although they are looking forward to Grandma and Grandad coming to visit from Ireland in September. Natasha has got a right ozzie accent and sure is embracing the way of life. Starting to get involved in sports, they love AFL and love the outdoor PE sports-athletics, cross country...... Thats it in a nutshell, they love it.

  5. Tell her it will be your job to clean it. Honestly it doesn't take that much. And it is sooo relaxing and especially in summer when the weather is stifling. Kids will love it too. She 's Auzzie, they don't feel the heat like we do. Tell her its for your health and well-being so when its really hot you wont get all hot and bothered and grumpy.... lol Get 1 !!!!

  6. Definitely must have a pool. Just moved into our own house with saltwater pool. we love it. Fab pool shop near us, will do a sample test on our water and they even say you dont need to spend much on it. Will try and post a picture of my pool too. Love it. xpool.jpg

  7. Hi ya,

Sorry to hear so many bad reports. We have been having dealings with Montforts now for 18 months. And I must say we have had absolutely no problems what so ever. We could never had done this without them. From financial, visa agent, moneycorp and follow up contact here in Australia all included in the price, its been the best money spent.

Yes you could probably do all this yourself but having someone contact companies on your behalf and do all your dealings, certainly has taken the stress away from what is already a stressful time.

Go with your instinct. Obviously always good and bad.

    Good luck. x

  8. Hi, can u tell us how much money you need to have to get QLD SS?

Hi ya, $20,000 for main applicant and $5000 for each dependant. Cant be in the form of equity on your house or isas, shares etc. Need to have a bank statement with evidence of cash in. If you can scramble money from various sources put in in your bank, credit cards etc, get a statement then put the money back to wherever it came from. It doesnt need to be there for a certain length of time. It was said on PIO before we should have a pot of money on here that gets moved about for people to use for evidence.....HeHeHeHeHe........:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

  9. No one knows what AHPRA are up to I'm afraid. After a long tedious 6 six months I finally got my "Eligible for registration" in January. So in my letter it says call in to the office when I get to Brisbane, which I did to produce my documents. 2 weeks on I am still not on the register and I am supposed to be starting work on Monday.

Thats another thing why some people are receiving "Eligibility" and some are getting straight onto the register.

So afraid only AHPRA know what they are doing.

    Hope you hear soon.

    X Helen:hug:

  10. Hi,

Hellsbells, thanks for your reply where can i find a step by step guide to application I am still no clearer on how to apply .

    AHPRA website - National board-Nursing - Internationally / overseas nurses - forms -

    AGOS 04

Follow it step by step. I think the 3rd to last page of the application, gives you a list of all the paperwork required. Make sure you include everything asked for, because they won't contact you if anything is missing until right at the very end of processing your application, which could be 4-5 months down the line. And don't expect them to email you, I emailed 5 times and only ever got 1 reply. They are not allowed ring overseas either.

Take your time and fill it in. Also before you post it off, make sure to make a copy of it

  11. Hi,

My wife and I want to apply for a 176 Visa to get PR in Queensland, my wife is a Registered nurse in the UK. Do we need to register with the ANMC first and then once we have that get her skills assessed or is this all the same thing? :arghh:

You will need Skills assessment for QLD SS 176 and nursing registration.

Do not let the next bit put off, I am trying to sort the following problem out with QLD gov................

I got granted QLD SS last August and applied to AHPRA for my nursing registration at the same time, got my letter of "Eligibility for nurse registration" from AHPRA on 10 Jan 2011, but this is not good enough for Queensland. They say they want my registration certificate, but I won't get this til I appear at the AHPRA office in Brisbane with my letter of eligibility and ID. So they are refusing to send my state sponsorship nomination form on to immigration. So now I am going on a 457 temp visa so I can get out there and get that certificate.Work then while I wait for my 176 to come through. Only problem with that then is I need to offshore for 10 days and then return to validate the permanent visa. I am trying to get this rule changed with QLD but they are waiting to hear from AHPRA to confirm eligibility is all I get. They will be waiting cos AHPRA don't reply to emails. Absolute nightmare, but don't let this put you off.

If I was you I would get your registration form in with AHPRA, not sure if you need IELTS or not, they keep changing the rules. I started this whole process this time last year so had to sit IELTS. Sure someone will have the up to date info on this. AHPRA are useless and keep changing the rules......

Hopefully QLD will have changed their rules in time for you, so you don't and others don't have to endure the rubbish I am dealing with currently. On QLD's SMP criteria for nurses it says you must have eligibility to nurse, I have this and have pointed this out but not good enough. I will get them to change the rule............DETERMINATION !!!!!!!!!!!:arghh:

  12. Has anyone had QLD accept eligibilty letter from AHPRA to forward on form 1100 to immigration. I received my eligibilty letter from AHPRA last week.

QLD are being awkward saying because I don't have my registration they cant forward on my state sponsorship. AHPRA do not give registration, just eligibilty letter until you actually arrive in the country and turn up at the office. No visa I can't turn up anyway. So what am I supposed to do.

If anyone has received 176 visa with just eligibility letter can you please get in touch with me. I think I just have a snotty woman trying to cause problems. Even on the QLD SMP registration and experience criteria it clearly says must be ELIGIBLE for registration. It doesn't say must have registration.

    Please help someone.

    Thanks, Helen

  13. Hi Pamela,

As Helen will validate patience is not my best virtue :wink: Im at the twiddling my thumb stage, visa in and fingers crossed. At the tender age of 30 i wouldnt worry too much about losing points, but at my age 39+1 the clock starts to tick.

Just to clarify for you the ANMC is just a skill assessment, to see if your qualifications are up to ozzy standards. So there is no worries there, but what i would say is ring the ANMC up a few times and i found mithering worked for me lol:biglaugh: The APHRA is the registration part of it, which from what i can gather on here is a bit of a nightmare. I applied before they all merged phewww lucky me. For statesponsorship you will have to show financial assets, they will take creditcard statements showing how much credit you have available. My capital was in my house so i got a couple of credit cards and that did the trick. Bit mad really when ive never had a credit card before, and ive got none now as ive cancelled them now haha they served a purpose i suppose. It looks like the state migration plans wont be out anytime soon

But dont worry when things start to move it will put us all in a spin

And Hi Helen hows you matey xx

    Annette x

    Hi Annette,

All good here. Like yourself just twiddling my thumbs......Rains cleared a bit now..... Still want that sunshine though.

Hoping my registration comes through any day now, since they have my money now.

Soooooo relieved now I told my mum and dad and sis. Such a weight off my mind. Mum wants to keep talking about it. She's been great, but I still feel a little awkward.Don't know why.. no reason really. Started clearing out the garage today. So much to do to get the house ready for selling. But anyway we might be in for a long wait anyway.

I was looking on another thread today where someones friend only applied in August and got 175 visa in September. You just never know. Just want these SMP's out.

Not heard from Sharon. I'm going to send her a message. I do hope she is ok.

    Pamela,

If you ever want to PM no problem. Fire ahead with the questions. Will see if we can answer.

Everything does take time but no sooner you've finished 1 stage you soon get onto the next.

    x Helen

  14. Hi Helen, I was just wondering if you could help me out as you look like you are heading the same road i am. I am trying to decide on state sponsorship, me and my partner want to go to Queensland as we have friends there that we are going to live with until we settle. Do you think it's better to go down the state sponsorship route? my agent said it would only be a few months of a difference but that is a lot to me! Did you get your state sponsorship in a day? or have i read that wrong? i feel like the whole process is taking forever, it really gets to you. My stuff has been at the ANMC for 13 weeks now, they lost my IELTS results and the NMC sent the documents to the wrong place 1st time around. I am a bit confused with this APHRA thing as well?? Any info would be great.

    Thanks, Pamela x

    Hi Pamela,

Yea looks like we are in a similar position. Where in Queensland are u heading?

If you are wanting to go on a permanent visa, go for the state sponsorship 176 visa. Queensland are still sponsoring while we wait for the release of the state migration plans. And yes I did get the sponorship confirmed within a day :arghh: although it took about 10 days to actually receive my determination letter in the post.

If nurses are on the Queensland SMP's we will go to category 2 which means visas will be processed quite fast. Otherwise if you go straight for the skilled 175 visa you will stay at cat. 3 which they are saying is taking between 12-18 months....... Too long if you ask me. Especially the way the NHS is going, will be lucky to have a job in 18 months.

Give the ANMC a ring, they are very friendly. It shouldn't be taking this long. I had my skills assessment back in just over 3 weeks. But that was after ringing them.

You do need to have applied for your nurse registration to APHRA before you can submit your state sponsorship. A photocopy of your application will be sufficient as proof that you have applied. I also included a copy of my postage receipt. Well, my agent sent everything off for me.For queensland also, you need funds which cant be possible funds from house sale or the like. You have to provide a bank statement showing a certain amount, depending how many of you there are.

I've probably bombarded you with info, but hope it helps. Everything does take forever and does start to take over your life. If its not 1 thing its another. I'm at the stage now where I keep checking APHRA to see if my reg. has come through and the DIAC website checking my visa status :daydreaming:

At least APHRA have now taken my money. So fingers crossed I get my reg. through soon.

All the best. Just be patient.

  15. Sounds like the same bloke i spoke to 2 weeks ago ..... he told me he sent the victoria office an urgent message asking to phone me back in 24 - 48 hours - phone call never happened. However today i did finally receive an email stating that they had my application and was currently being reviewed ........... the saga continues

    emma x

I'm so glad they have your application. Thats all i'm bothered about. Hopefully it won't be too long now. x

  16. I rang APHRA this morning, determined to speak to someone so I let the phone ring + ring. Eventually, spoke to this really nice english chap..... Although he couldn't give me information, he did try to put me through to the Victoria nursing office. Unfortunately it was busy and I couldn't hold anymore cos work was calling me. But he gave me a number which he shouldn't of done so I am going to try again in the morning.

I'm going to ring ANMC aswell tomorrow.

Funny thing was the bloke I spoke to, spoke about how useless the other departments were because he couldn't get through, but then did say they were extremely busy..

  17. I know.. so stressful.. and dont worry your not the only one.. would you believe i was actually dreaming last night that i paid for a ticket to fly to Oz just to sort out my registration....

OMG .... I hope that wasnt one of them predictive dreams!!! :twitcy:

On a lighter note, isnt it great that things are happenning all the same!

Funny about dreams. Annette will go mad with me for this one cos I still haven't told the parents. But I have told them really........ IN MY DREAMS........:SLEEP:It was so real and their reaction was good. Think I need to book a trip to Ireland to let them know the situation.

Oh yea, things are happening which is good. Just breathing, eating, sleeping Oz for the last 6 months. You just get 1 thing sorted and the next comes along. Nearly on last hurdle now, so can put the files of paperwork away.....

  18. Hi Ya Helen :biggrin::biggrin:

You know my moto get them rung and mither mither mither lol then they get fed up with you and process it hehe. I got very friendly with the nice chap at queensland for my ss. I still talk to him if you want me to probe for you !!

It will all happen at once promise

    Annette x

Oh I know. Going to phone in the morning.

Please do probe ?????????? Speak to ya soon. xx

  19. Yes, Im wondering that too, I saw the same thread as you.. Its confusing? But it does state clearly at the bottom of the application form to post it to Melbourne.. there is another thread ive been posting alot in below about APHRA.. i will put the question up there to see if anyone can confirm

Yea it definitely says Melbourne, but if you want to deliver in person it says to your local office. I just panic that my application never got there. Sent it off on 11-08 and also requested ANMC to forward my stuff on from them around the same time but no confirmation that this has been done........

Might ring them both in the morning before I go to work, make sure APHRA received papers and ANMC posted everything to Aphra....... OMG:arghh: Am I getting obsessed????????

State sponsorship went off on 16th too, so it's all happening........

  20. Can someone please confirm where nursing registration applications should be sent to? I sent mine to the P.O box number in Melbourne as it says at the end of the application, but someone on another thread was told by APHRA her application should of been sent to Queensland.

    Please help!!!!!!!

  21. Just a quick update, i've had an email from AHPRA saying that it's fine to have the ANMC forward my file. I just need to send the application form, payment and current CV.

I presume if there's anything missing from the file, they'll ask for it.

    Thats great.

I can relax now and just fill in the paperwork.

Who did you get to witness your signature. Am I right in saying it needs to be like getting a certified copy, such as a solicitor ???

Just need to update my CV now.

    Good luck.

    X Helen

  22. I've completed the application form this afternoon but when i try and access certain pages of the AHPRA website, it won't let me log on to them. For example to check the current fees etc.

It's really bugging me now, anyone had a similar problem? x

Just been on APHRA website, it is $220 for overseas assessments.

Just need to fill the form in now and get all sent off.

    x
