This forum is weird though, as are people's lives....it's taken me ages to understand why you get biased answers sometimes. You have

1. Poms who hate the UK and argue that everything in Australia is better.

2. Poms in Australia who hate Australia and try and dissuade other people from coming here.

3. Poms who went home and still come on to bleat about Australia....why bother, you've already left?

4. Aussies getting defensive when some aspects of Australia are questioned and are then treated as criticisms.

 

The truth is, there are things wrong in both countries and some issues are obviously going to be better handled in the other. The idea is to share the best of both and accept the worst, but the very reason that most people are on here is that they want to find a better life in Oz, and that may mean that 7 out of 10 things are better, and 3 are worse. That's life, but you have to find out the answers without it turning into a slanging match.

I've found it a lot easier to ask specific questions where there has got to be a specific answer, rather than the open-ended questions like "What's it like in Perth", or "What is the food like in Sydney?" That is guaranteed to attract a lot of hot air, a fair few loonies, and not much that's useful as an answer.

Don't bank on it - I had a lovely surprise from a Huntsman the size of a man's hand in Pakenham. They are out there and that one scared the life out of me as it was in a work car - I wasn't driving but have had a memory blank for work that day!! Working in community mental health didn't help - my clients were supporting me that day lol!!
