Congrats to the recent grants!
I am now in Sydney and can report the Sun is shining. :-D
-
So happy that my visa has finally arrived.
However, the BIG question is, who has to buy the beers? DaveS DID get his visa before me but he also flew before me, so technically that's blatant cheating right?
Uh huh. After seeing how expensive the beer is - maybe we should get our respective partners to buy the beer. ;-D

Have Visa - will Fly.
Good luck everyone still waiting.
-
I suspect that now that the estimated grant time has gone up from 8-9 months those of us who applied mid-march that are still waiting that the grant time is more like 6 months rather than 5.
Not that I am in any panic just yet!!
Dave........??
My CO has told me it will be granted early next week. I fly on Wednesday.
Happy days....... though the stress & secrecy of the process will stick with me for a while!

No visa for me yet. My new employer is happy to wait for me though l, which is one less thing to worry about. Applying for tourist visa now.
-
Well my CO confirmed receipt of the passport copy. He still says hes not in a position to issue me a visa.
I am starting to get a bit frustrated by it all. The worst thing is its a product entirely of my own creation.
-
Today is the last day I can wait before making flight changes or applying for a tourist visa.
Haven't been many grants recently - 5 or 6 people were skipped for Wardie's grant. Unless its a bit out of date. Certainly myself and Lhigman. Hopefully today is the day.
Fingers crossed for everyone else!

Thanks Nimhug - fantastic that you are settling in.
New certified passport copy is en route to Australia House as of this morning. Will be there tomorrow.
Dave
Hi all,My heart is in my mouth reading all these posts about visas. I have not had a chance to check in since arriving in Melbourne 3 weeks ago. Dave S and Wardie77 - any luck yet????? I REALLY hope your day comes soon!
Settling into life in Melbourne so well. I love it! The big job hunt is on at the moment and there is plenty on offer.
Best of luck to everyone still waiting - it's so worth the wait!
-
New passport arrived yesterday - now to get it certified and fired off over to my CO for Wednesday.......
Congrats on the flight booking susieB!

Heard back from my co today saying that they will try and grant my visa before we fly but if I haven't heard by the week before then to give them a call! OMG just grant it already lol
I let AB know I Lost my passport & that a knew one was on the way. He says it wont impact my visa grant at all - and just to send him a certified copy asap.
Don't suppose you had your grant today? I hope to get mine on Tuesday (intel from another poster!).

I recon you'll get granted on Friday...
Research shows!
Monday 8
Tuesday 9
Wednesday 5
Thursday 3
Friday 6
Saturday 2
Sunday 0
Haha. I am guessing the Saturdays are a mistake.
-
Have you put a call into AB as yet? or are you playing the waiting game?
I am going to call him on Friday for a nudge... it's been over a month since the last communication so figure he is due a chat. :-)
Nah - I haven't called. Hes very good on email.
He replied yesterday insisting that its still 5-6 months. I suspect Lindor/Anika today and me and lhigman next week but fingers crossed its sooner. I have to find/replace my passport as well which is more dead time........
I think it'll all workout.

Already got the tourist visa sorted just in case.
Shipping is en-route and currently in the Med somewhere... got a transfer with work etc so now just waiting for the visa. Looking forward to a month off work and enjoying the Sydney start of spring.
Nice job. Everyone is so organised.......
-
My bet is you. I think Dave has pushed his CO over the edge... :-)
Hey Wardie - hows the move going? have you thought about that tourist visa yet?
-
Just logged on to my e-mail to see that MC has granted my visa! Best day ever!!!!
Congrats Anika ;-D
-
So Lindor and Anika ........... get granted please!
-
I use http://www.seek.com.au mostly. & Simplyhired.com.au..............
I tend to not mention my visa until asked - then say I have a permanent spouse visa (which is a bit of a lie as I have the 309 coming not the 100).
I also mention my Australian Wife.
Some agents will ignore you, some employers will - but its worth a shot to get applying now. You can at least build up some contacts to spam nearer the time.
Jobs and waiting for 309/100's !Hi everyone - I realise this may not be the exact correct thread for it but .... i am obviously, like many others on here looking for a spouse visa grant in the next few months . And the job search for those with our type of visa strikes me as a little different to other classes.
In a way it is kind of easier for those on company sponsored visas - they at least know what they are going to do when they get there as a job is already sorted and secured in most cases when the visa is granted.
For us lot on spousies, i expect that unless we have sorted out a job beforehand, it's quite a leap into the unknown if we are planning to work in Oz that is ( i suspect most are!).
Could i ask please what people have done to try and get jobs before they arrive and while they wait for their visa to come ?
For example, i can only register on the Australian Govt website if i already have a visa granted (i assume having one "pending" is no good even if you suggest it will be within a couple of months?).
Also what do you tell recruiters? "i have appplied for a 100 class visa & have been told it should be granted in November - December 2012, take it as gospel and give me a job offer" - is this assurance enough for them to take you seriously?
Do they require (or can they get?) any back up from the embassy to confirm they are considering your application & give a "nod and wink"?
What websites or recruiters do people generally use?
I have to say after checking the web generally and this website i'm really not that much more clued up as to where to start and what to say.
Happy to send my resume to employers / recruiters and tell them i plan on coming "soon" visa pending and give a likely date - but i really want to tee things up so i can get work in the next few months whilst waiting for the visa and wondered what others had done.
i'm a UK RICS accredited commercial property valuer /manager and am moving to Melbourne - would be grateful if anyone could give a little advice or share their own experiences.
many thanks

We sent ours on the Thursday, they took the money Friday and the CO emailed the following Friday.
DaveS, thanks for the links, I'll check out IOM.
I'm a bit wary of "lesser known" airlines after a bad experience with Vietnam Airlines coming over here. I'd be interested to hear what Korea is like. They were the cheapest I saw online (apart from the Malaysian Airlines one).
IOM use BA & Malaysia I think...
-
VISA GRANTED TODAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO EXCITED ...
Congrats!
-
Some threads on here about IOM http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/flights-holidays/132913-has-anyone-booked-flights-through-iom-uk-2.html
Unfortunately you have to email them direct for a quote.
Email bookingsuk@iom.int
-
Have you guys got quotes from IOM as well? I paid £1085 (i think..) for 2 adults and a baby with Malaysia through IOM.
-
My CO stopped replying to my emails. I think I burnt that bridge well & truly.
Not sure what to do now. Will probably just wait until the last moment then panic about flights & tourist visa.

mng75 look for iom.int on this forum - they sometimes have good deals.

Just for an update on people applying for the 309 visa from London, my OH submitted his in March and they have said current waiting times are long, more towards the 6months end of the scale
Goodluck to everyone who've submitted, I have my fingers crossed things will speed up! We are backpacking in SE asia until it comes though so hoping it won't be toooo long.... nx
Bad news! Thanks for posting it though. Starting to think I might have to look into delaying my flights.
