<p>i am a design engineer with an HND in mechanical engineering. </p>

<p>i must admit it is great to have a migration agent. they set out the pathway so that everyting gets done in the right order. i had to get employer references and competency reports about my work history, which to me at the start sounded like i was ready to throw the towel in! </p>

<p>as long as you follow their route, it all goes quite well. visabureau have been very good i have to say. very friendly, helpful, and always at the end of the phone (or mail) to answer questions.</p>

<p>looking back, i don't think i'd be confident doing it DIY.</p>

<p>my skills assessment went off last week to engineers Australia (EA), so we're nervously waiting for a response (usually 4-6 weeks apparently).</p>

<p>the whole visa application we're told takes 12-15 months, and we're 3 months in, so plenty of time waiting yet!!</p>

<p>we're hoping for Victoria SS.</p>
