    Mackay

hi folks anyone got any contacts or ideas for getting work im mackay? we need to move regional. Ima qualified mechanic so needs to be something automotive, not really up to speed mechanics wise yet, whilst qualified I need a some more training. Need a visa too, RSMS or sponsorship. Any ideas? looked on seek etc but not happenin. matt
  2. we have spoke to numerous migration agents, immigration themselves etc. We were sold the visa by THIS IS AUSTRALIA. And without being rude I was astounded how unprofessional all the above were. Wrong information, no call backs, some struggled with English. The bottom line is my course was of such a low standard, I was the only one who could speak fluent English, that the qualification I got is worthless. Ill keep the name of the govt official to myself but were talking state level. We were not being naïve, and had the laws stayed the same we would of had a fighting chance. We do now know we were set up but we did all the leg work for a good two years. will check the skills list and look at SA thanks

    Trouble

Hi folks. right , anyone got any ideas. we came on a student visa three years ago done course , passed it etc, cant find a job, on a graduate visa now. We were sold the visa as a direct pathway into the country, if we did this this and this. well we did and we are as far away as ever. I stupidly chose mechanics , Qld no longer sponsor mechanics as GSM so its employer sponsored on $57 k. never gonna happen. cant get a foot in the door as employers prefer young aussies that come with huge tax incentives and breaks. We cant justify going regional without a job, kids in school , current jobs etc. We have no drama in moving any where in OZ with the guarantee of a visa, but mechanics is at best looking laboured and limited. We have also been in touch with Govt , who basically told us we could come in through the back door , this sounded to good to be true and despite voicing our concerns he repeatedly assured us we could. My parents decided to pay the final huge sum to get there PR and are now in. We then got the call saying he was mistaken and we don't get it My wife works in real estate, would it be beneficial for her to get her real estate license? There have been so many changes its almost impoosible. They want us in, spend our money, pay tax, then leave before were a tax on the state in benefits etc. As I said my whole family are here and now residents through marriage and the like. There staying and were going at the moment. any advice or help greatly appreciated. We spent years researching student visas and whilst we knew it would be hard, within days of landing the rules had changed beyond belief. thanks Matt

    help

yeah, did the fast track two year course, got cert 3 and diploma. even top mechanics dont earn that, maybe in the mines. despite finishing first and best on my course i have been told im nowhere near the reqd level after four works trials . we would of gone onto the works ready programme for a year then apply for PR as it was sold to us. done everything they asked and more and they continue to move goal posts. They want more money and make it even harder.

    help

Hi folks, this is similar to my previous post so apologies if your reading this again. We need some help, finished my studies as a mechanic, got papers etc but the visa we would of gone onto has now been removed. and i now have to find a sponsor on $51,400, for a newly qualified, green as grass mechanic. The student visa was a sold to us a viable way in, it wasnt. I need a job that can be tied into mechanics on paper i.e. car salesman, driver, or trades assistant. As for the wage we might b able to come to an agreement. Legal for 18 months, livin in brisbane for past three years, would like to stay local if poss but will look at anything Australia wide. Pref north qld if we had to move. We want to stay for good, wife and kids love it, well integrated into the community etc, and it seems they just want us out as quick as possible. were good tax payers for a long tome yet. Not had alot of luck since we came but determined to ake it work. will listen to anything. thanks folks
  6. thats not strictly true, we were sold the student visa with defined clear pathways by our agent, who we have found out since didnt know her arse from her elbow. Skilled migration is now all but done , or so we were told last week by an actual migration lawyer, especially for mechanics and especiallly in brisbane. we cant go back, finance for one, and al lmy family are here. i do struggle with how unfair it all is we did all we could for the govt to change the goal posts so far and wide. if we do end up going home , which wont b at least for a couple of years as im waiting for my grad visa to come through, we would never set foot back in australia. cut our losses? im into this for nearly 100,000 pounds
  7. and i dont have a job or a job offer atb the momment
  8. I think we have our wires crossed, i think the 51 k is much much to much to ask, every mech i came across earns at most 40k and they are seasoned professionals albeit in local light vehicle garages and the only offer i had was 300 bucks a week, not even the rent. we have been told they are NOT taking people from outside australia at min exceot the top 2 % need to find a job in the trade which can be classed as mechanic but doing other duties, my course was fairly poor and i was the only white english speaking one on there,
  9. Hi folks i posted on here a few months ago on a similar note, me and my family are in a bit of trouble. we came over on a student visa nearly three years ago as a mechanic, i did my course and am now qualified, but very inexperinced around 500 hours in the workshop. we were told to do course, find a job in trade and your in. that is so far from the truth its not funny, they have wiped the visa out that we would of applied for, all but abolished G S migration for mechanics, especially so in qld and now i have to get a sponsor on a 457 to pay me $51,400 a year, for a newly qualified mechanic that is absurd. Been to migration lawyer already, we are legal for around 2 years still. Has anyone got any advice or can help us out, we can come to some financial arrangement regarding the outrageous wage. Im 37 here with my kids and wife, done everything and more that they asked and it keeps getting harder. my whole family is here, wife has family in uk and have invested everything financially , we have been lied to so badly by so many. If your thinking about a student visa ......forget it. thanks matt
