  1. My husband has taken his ielts twice now, and it's the writing that he is struggling with, 1st he got 7.5, this time 6.5. He really needs to get 8's to get 20 points. Is there anyone that can help with the writing side of it to give him some confidence with this? He did well in English at school but I guess its about setting it out in the way it needs to be for the test!:arghh:

A number of my clients have used Pete Jones (Englishman in New Zealand) for tips on how to get a good score or improve their IELTS score. He has a new website which offers free advice on the Writing task. Not sure if he is helping with any of the other sections. Here is his link:

  3. Your AQF III examination process does not need to be taken in Australia. The company you mention are excellent. I've had a few clients use them and they went on to pass their TRA assessment. And yes you should get the 10 points.

  4. I just applied for mine today with the FBI, in preparation for CO asking for them, but what happens if the co only gives you 28 days to get the PCC and it takes the FBI 8 weeks? Do they give you more time if it is out of your hands?

Yes, DIAC will give you more time. They know generally that the FBI searches take time.

  5. Hi Melbournegirlinny - I clicked on your blog and saw a post titled, "Koalas are not bears". Frankly, I don't see why not if they have all the Koala-fications!

Cute. Since I live in the US I felt compelled to write that about koalas not being bears!

  6. Hi

Not sure if anyone can help but, TRA have only verified 4 years of my husbands 12 years experience (joiner), as they say the first five years are training and then some of the years where he hasnt earned above £20k arent sufficent!! (He had his own business and therefore was only taking living expenses). ALSO they are saying they have insuffcient evidence on Rob's qualification even thoguh we have supplied the certificate. We are fuming and disheartened by this whole process. Having passed the Vetasses skills assessment and IELTS we were ready to lodge a Visa and now we dont know what is gonig on!!

It is not mandatory to obtain the skill assessing authority's opinion on your work experience. DIAC still have to assess that aspect anyway and I have not had any of my clients get their work experience assessed by a skills assessing authority. So just lodge without the TRA work experience assessment and provide all your work experience evidence to DIAC.

  7. I practise in the US so deal with the FBI quite often. For some odd reason, the FBI removed the line where you can include a FedEx account number on their updated form. Also, with timing, the FBI have been taking 8 weeks to process these applications for some time now and all my clients that I've put through have taken 8 weeks-none shorter than that.

  8. Sorry in advance if this is a common question but i am new to here and am feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the info. I want to migrate to WA with my little boy (just the 2 of us). I am a nurse and am 41. I will have been qualified 4 years this sept. I had someone go through the visa questions at a migration exhibition and she said i cannot appy for a skilled visa till sept 2013 because i need 5 years experience to gain the 65 points needed. She said come back then.

I went to the next stall which was a healthcare stall and a nurse there said that she will find me sponsorship on a 457 visa but on that visa i would have to pay for a) my child's education at approx $8000 p/a and private health care for the both of us. Trouble is, as I am going on my own there will only be one wage coming in and I am worried that I will struggle financially beacuse of tuition fees. Is there any other visa that will allow me to apply before sept 2013 where i don't have to pay tuitio fees for my son.

Thanks for any help. I am passionate about nursing. Not so passionate about visa'a.

    Deb.

You could get a 457 visa and go to a state where they do not charge foreign student fees-most of the states in fact do not charge. Tell the nursing agency you wish to work for a hospital in a state that does not pass on the foreign student fees. Then apply for PR either once you have enough points or ask the hospital to sponsor you for a PR employer-sponsored visa which most hospitals will do after a year or so.

  9. Thanks for your insight. I hope it is the case as it would be a problem for me if I had to show around 23000$ (which is in my contract) when I hopefully move in....wud be nice to hear what other ppl here have to say abt it.....

All the best for your application.... :)

You do not have to prove anything about your finances when you arrive in Australia. Nobody will check that you are bringing in what you estimated you could bring when you applied for state sponsorship.

  10. Hi all

have just received email from WA saying our application didn't include cv??? I know I uploaded it and in their website it does say they have had a problem...anyone else had this issue ??

    thanks

    louise

    (stressed )

It's been a problem for some time for the WA system that CVs sometimes do not upload. They are aware of the issue.

  11. It says to not contact them until you have recieved an outcome letter. Don't want to get them upset and not pass me off.

Ignore that. I call them for each client. It is a call centre anyway and the people you speak to don't assess your application. Even if they did, they cannot legitimately decide negatively on your application just because you call them! The only way you'll get an answer is if you phone them and complain about the timing.

  12. No, just the last page ... but with a stamp to state it was a certified whole document rather than a page. So it should be sufficient.

Oh well, I'll just have to go back and re-do.

The whole point of certification of copies of original documents is to verify their authenticity. By just certifying the last page only as to the 'whole' document does not address the point of certification. It would be entirely possible for someone to add to or remove documents in the 'whole' document. How can the assessing authority know what is the 'whole' document that was viewed? It cannot-hence the need to stamp and sign each page.

  13. Hi Guys

I have got qualification assessment from ICAA but not experience assessment. I have provided all supporting documents such as work experience certificates pay slips and tax proofs etc.

Now i have a doubt that will DIAC award points for my experience based on my documentation or they only rely on ICAA experience assessment.

    Thanks & regards

    SS

You will be fine just having DIAC assess your work experience.

  14. http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/occupations/a/accountant-general.htm

I please see the link above - you only need to get your work experience assessed if you are claiming work experience points. Your work experience has to be assessed by an Aus accounting body, not by the DIAC.

That is not correct. You can if you want have your skill assessing authority assess your work experience but you do not have to. DIAC still have to perform that function. I've lodged all my client applications since last July without having the skill assessing authorities assess work experience and all clients have received their visas. You cannot believe everything written on the DIAC website--some of it is not clearly written.

  15. You have to get your experience assessed by ICAA before you can lodge your visa application. The DIAC will then use this to award you work experience points.

This is not true. You can if you want but it is not mandatory. DIAC will still assess your work experience.

  16. Hi Guys

This is my first post at POMZINOZ...

I am after a list of "Really" good professional Agents in Sydney who can help me with my Skilled migration application. Or an Attorney!

I have been working in Sydney since more than 3.5 years now on 457... Last yr I got hold of one agent to help me with my application but she was crap... tried to go through the assessment by ACS ..who rejected my application saying I cant be assessed as IT Analyst but were fine as a System Administrator... after that I stopped following it up.

Now.. I want to start this process again and hoping to reach somewhere with it...

    Thanks

    G

If you want an excellent migration lawyer in Sydney you can't go past Nigel Dobbie who is an accredited specialist migration lawyer. See: http://www.ddilawyers.com/

And as an fyi--lawyers in Australia are not called attorneys (as they are here in the US)...they are called solicitors :-)
