  1. If you're an Australian citizen, you require an Aussie passport to enter the country - the visa attached to your British passport is cancelled once you become a citizen. So I doubt that many British people would choose to not have an Aussie passport. It is more expensive to renew a British passport in Australia than in the UK ($282 vs 72.50 GBP), and given that one can easily enter the UK on an Aussie passport, for those intending to stay here forever there isn't much reason to keep a British passport current.

wow - that is expensive...... Didn't think the British government would rip off it's citizens by that amount.

  2. We've let our British ones expire - a lot of expense to renew 4 passports that we're unlikely to use

How much does a British or Australian passport cost? I have read loads of comments about Brits not getting an Aussie passport or not renewing a passport due to cost.

Are the Brits tight with money or not very well off?

Hi,My hubbie, daughter and myself all have a 175 skilled visa which we activated in June 2012. Since then daughter number 2 has come along and we have to apply for a child visa 101 which is another $2000. For our last visa we used an agent but we have been quoted approx another £600 to use an agent, money which I would prefer to save, and hope someone here has applied and could advise if we actually need to use an agent. I have also been told the processing time is about 9 months, does anyone have any experience of this?
Hi there. We were in the same boat as you. Got our visa's (175 using an agent) and validated them then baby number 2 came. We did the child visa application ourselves and like you said saved a good few pounds. The process is very straightforward. You get a checklist when you download the application form so it tell's you exactly what to send off. We got a reply within a week via email from our case officer informing us to have medical done for the child and police check done for ourselves. She said the application would take 6 months and it did to the day. We sent our application to the London office. Good luck.
  4. Just watched the first in the new series with the Godfry's family in Perth. The BBC erred in not having this programme with sub titles as the family were from East Glasgow and only understandable every now and again. This family sadly could 'moan' for the UK which is what they did for the most part. Some of the things the husband said about properties that were obviously occupied were totally uncalled for on television when compared to their own property. No doubt as all the series have been, the BBC edit to make watchable. It has to get better than the first programme.

wow --- I think you are being very harsh. The Scottish family did not moan at all.

I could understand them perfectly and I'm not Scottish. They were a lovely family and best of luck to them.
