  1. Adelaide has a fantastic climate, can get too hot during those heat waves though! It is certainly different to Melbourne, completely different feel to the place.

We live in Adelaide, the southern suburbs (20 minutes drive from the CBD) and enjoy the quiet slower pace here, there is plenty to do, people are friendly but finding employment a couple of years ago was difficult as we have found it a place that employs the "its not what you know but who you know" rule (very clique).

We visit friends in Melbourne a couple of times each year and love the hustle and bustle that Melbourne offers, it has a vibrant feel and the city centre with its pavement and back street cafes make it very appealing. However if your living in the suburbs I imagine its pretty much the same as anywhere else although it will be a lot more expensive than Adelaide, roads are busier and most likely your commute will be longer too.

You need to ask yourself what you want, we would not move to Melbourne from Adelaide as we feel we can have the best of both, just over an hour away on a flight and you can usually pick up a bargain, but having said that I think we would be very happy if we did live in Melbourne. (Would we visit Adelaide if we lived in Melbourne...probably not)

  2. They are supposed to pay you the Market rate for this visa. Are they paying you less than they agreed and told immigration they were going to pay you? If that is the case you have a bit more freedom.

Its not that simple. I am paid slightly under the market rate for my current position but there are big changes happening within the industry to catch up with Europe & the States. I have this experience (10 years worth) and this seems to be desired on advertised positions for my role and hence the wages asking for this experience are reflected in that as there is certainly a shortage of people with this experience within Australia and particulary South Australia.

  3. I was wondering if anybody could answer this question; I have been in Australia for 4 months working on a PR-119 employed by a SouthAustralian company. Things at work are good, company is great but there is one gripe that i have which is I am not being given the market rate. I recently viewed an advert and went for the interview, I even was offered the job (double the money I am currently on) but can my sponsorship be transferred?

I’m guessing not and I may just have to bide my time till my 2 years are up but if anybody knows any different,I would be grateful ifyou could share your thoughts or experience.

  4. After everything, CO going on holiday and the nightmare year we've had an email just arrived with the magic words VISA GRANTED!!! OMG, we're going to the other side of the world

Great news, I reckon you let the new year in with a proper celebration:biglaugh:

  5. Hey Chris&Mel,

Have you calmed down any yet or are you still floating!!

Made any decisions about flights etc?

    Karen

Not calmed down yet, its been hectic since the visa was granted as were not expecting it to be granted this early.

We have have done nothing but decorate since as we need to get the house on the market, got some builders in this week to do some minor jobs and then we will take it from there.

  6. Hi everybody,

My wife's employer submitted our 857 nomination, last week. We are ready to submit our visa application now too but are considering waiting for until the nomination is approved. Anyone with any experience on whether submitting in stages like that adds a heap of time onto the total processing time?

It didnt seem to slow mine application down at all. I didnt however wait until the nomination was approved, my nomination and visa were approved/granted on the same day.

    My visa was RSMS 119.

  7. Morning!!

We have good news this morning, WE FINALLY HAVE A CO!!! They have our meds, PCC, form 80 anyone have any idea how long it will take before they make a decision??

Wow, not long now...i sent my form 80's 26th October, sent my meds via e health 10th November and got my visa 16th November!!!!!

hopefully just another week and you'll get it

  8. Hi all,

I want to ask, can you send your medicals using the ehealth system even if your application is paper based for 119 RSMS?

    Thanks,

    Sandie

Hello Sandie, my medicals were in Manchester and i filled all the paper forms in for the same reasons you suggest for my 119 visa.

However the medical team submitted our medicals via the e-health even though i didnt have a TRN number etc from the nomination as my nomination was approved at the same time as my visa. They emailed Canberra to get the required information so they could be uploaded onto the system etc.

  10. We got another letter this morning, with all the right people on it, and all spelt correctly! Think I'm going to frame it

Did you inform them of their mistakes or did they realise themselves? Im thinking maybe i should inform them.....

  11. No, for the first 6 weeks or so I bounced up every morning expecting to find an email from them, so you're not going mad! Even now I still check my emails every morning before doing anything else!!

There was actually an email this morning, but not one I wanted!! There was a mistake on the acknowledgement letter, my OH's daughter was included as a migrating dependant even though she isn't coming with us, so they renewed the acknowledgement letter, but as well as removing my step-daughter, they removed me aswell.........:cry:

:biglaugh: Sorry for laughing Pinkcera......only i have just received my acknowledgement email from DIAC and they have messed up on the people included. They have included my OH's son who is not migrating with us but have left our youngest son off altogether.

Im not bothering getting in touch with them about it though as im sure they will realise their mistake when they start processing the application.

Hey, must be a common mistake....seems like it anyway.
