  1. Hi Linda,

See http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Brin/Fami/Capping-and-queuing/Other-family-visa-queue. The good news is that they were quoting 56 years a couple of years ago so 50 years is an improvement. But FWIW this is only useful for people who happen to be here and can apply onshore. Even then, a 50 year bridging visa would be an exercise in futility.

    Happy New Year.

    Cheers,

Well thanks, we might all be long gone by then!!!!

  2. We haven't ping ponged but feel like we're on a bit of elastic! Lived in Queensland now for 7 years, been back to UK on holiday to see family and friends 6 times and are thinking of going again later this year. We can stay with Mother-in-law in Uk which makes it easy and cheap and it doesn't help having one son here in Oz and one in London! Having said that, we are staying in Oz, feel much happier and healthier here and when I get homesick I remind myself to take off the rose tinted glasses, a holiday is very different to living there again.

[TD]Hi, we are mulling over whether or not to return to the UK, nothing decided. We are just wondering if we can leave money here in a Term Deposit if we did go back, as it's a higher interest rate, or would we be taxed here and in the UK? Any advice would be appreciated.

  4. My husband was granted the RSMS visa in 2010, as part of it he had to be sponsored by an employer in a regional area for 2 years. After working for the employer for 2 years, we are now free to move and work wherever we like in Australia (although he is still there 4 years later!). Not sure if the rules have changed since 2010 though.
