  2. Hi Everyone due to the issues we are having with registering as a midwife in Oz at the moment due to the moving of the goal posts with APHRA we are thinking of maybe moving to New Zealand. We thought about New Zealand a few years ago and were looking at the Bay of Plenty, specifically Tauranga. I was just wondering what the education is like over there? I cant see anything on google about what age children sit exams in high school, how good the education is ect ect does anyone on here have any experience of this at all? thank you in advance x
  3. Hi everyone Just thought I would let any midwives out there know (not sure if it applies to nurses as not looked into it sorry) I have had a reply from APHRA via twitter that info re supervisory (due to us not having 20 caseloads ) will be out 26/9 hopefully Thanks xxx
  4. thanks chick I found that last night after you advised me too so will keep my eye on it :-)its all a waiting game now then. just worrying if we went on my husbands career to get a visa i wouldnt be able to get a job when we are over there, who is going to want to employ someone under supervised practice :-( sigh..... thank you for the update x
  5. Thank you everyone for your advise. We now need to think about which one of usshould apply for the visa abnd if I will even be able to get a job over there as a midwife boohoo sob sob :-( I think i will be glued to this lap top over the next few days looking into it!

  9. there is a bridging programme for midwives according to the APHRA website but it is only in Victoria?
  10. Hi Everyone I have just been looking at another post that some lovely ladies have posted updating us all with new info. So as a midwife I now have to have 20 caseloading cases as a student, (we didnt even have a quarter of that!) to be considered for applying for visa, I have sat the IELTS twice, paid to get my written test re marked and I am waiting for the results of it, however I am not sure we should even bother now :-( My questions are; Would I need to do a bridging course, (which are in a completely different state from where we are going and apparently really expensive) ? What does supervision entail? is it like over here where midwives under supervision are not paid whilst they are under it ? Would the supervision be for a year? My husband is a software development manager / web development manager would it be best we apply via him? He does not have any official qualifications linke degrees he has over 20 years experience in his field, what would they need from him? If we applied via my husband and then we got over there I am taking it that I would still need supervision which is totally rubbish sorry just getting a little stressed now and fed up :arghh:
  11. so does this mean I would need to do a bridging programme? I'm so confused :-(
  12. Natsmick 14 did you have 20 cases in training?
  13. thank you for the reply xx oh my word we didn't have 20 continuity not even 10! I am unsure what I have to do now aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh
  14. i just can't believe it, we have to jump through so many hoops to get there :-( I'm only at the beginning of the visa process, IELTS twice, sent to get my IELTS writing re marked due to being half a point out, now this! I will be moving to community at some point next year but still can't believe we have to caseload 20 women! Anyone know what supervised practice entails? what are the chances of us getting jobs over there on supervised practise! we dont want to wait too long so dont want to start the process next year due to my sons age. really fed up now :-( my husbands job is on the needed careers list but he doesn't have any official qualifications for what he does its just what he has learnt over time over 20 years. totally fed up now :-(
  15. thank you for the replys :-) i am waiting to get my IELTS remarked as 2nd attempt and half a point away again i needs 8's and i scored 8.5, 8.5, 8.5 and 7.5 grrrr. Hopefully, (you never know), they may re score it an 8 then its time to get cracking with everything else. We want PR but have not started the rest of the visa process yet, just waiting for IELTS. I think we will give it 10 months then thank you. we can get the house looking all dapper and then get cracking after christmas. we are prepared to go into rented accommodation although the prices of renting houses around here are quite steep so we might have to get a small house and live on top of each other for a few months which I am not looking forward to but hey ho needs must. Thank you everyone :-)
  16. Hi everyone I just wondered how long it was before leaving that you put your house up for sale? I've not very much experience in selling houses so not sure of the best time to put ours up. We want to be in Brisbane November 2015. Whats the best season to put it up? how long shall we wait? just wondered if you could let me know your experiences please. We dont want to rent it. thank you xxxx

  20. I've requested they check my writing mark for me. I had exactly the same mark on my last test and I am sure I wrote a better essay this time so fingers crossed x
  21. its such a hard decision, do i resit it and hope I dont get another 7.5 or do I ask them remark it. I'm so frustrated, its just that time is ticking. We want to be there by November 2015 due to my sons education, that's not long at all. \i am thinking of maybe getting the mark checked but again if that is 8 weeks turnaround .... aaaaaahhhhh. I cant believe all these hurdles we have tp jump through when we are english speaking, have degrees ect ect ... I'm having a right strop in my head :-)
  22. Hi everyone I am so frustrated!!!!! i need all 8's for my IELTS. I'v just checked my results and I have 8.5's in everything other than the writing where I have 7.5 :-( this is the 2nd time i have taken it and just missed out :-(. I readon here a while back that if you are that close they will consider changing your mark so they are all 8's is that true? How do I go about it? sooooooooo frustrated!
  23. Hi i wondered if any of you can advise me on something please? We have been heading towards a PR visa. I have sat my IELTS twice, i am waiting for my results of my second IELTS now, i need 8's so not sure I will get it. My husband has 2 blood auntys in Australia that are both citizens that have lived there for over 40 years. Would they be able to sponsor us? i have read that they could on a parent visa but I don;t want to get giddy until I know for sure and know if there is a difference in price ect.... Please could someone advise me if they canand also what the process would be? My husband Aunt has come to england to visit family we are going to see her tomorrow so if we had some details it would be much appreciated :-) Many thanks
