  1. Hi there, just came across your post looking through the threads and posts.

How lovely for you and how interesting, so you are really happy you made the right move.

Can I ask what made you decide Uk was a better life?

Has it really been that easy settling back in?

How long were u in WA?

We have just sold our oz home and are making plans to return to Uk too..

I known people think we are mad, we built an amazing dream home and yes the weathers great (sometimes when not too hot haha)

But there is just too much missing for me and the pull back to the UK is so strong, the weather is far less important now for me, happiness comes first.

Be really interested in your views...

I truely believe we too will appreciate been back in UK too ....

Sorry, I missed this post....So busy with life!

Did you make the move back to the UK in the end?

  2. Very sad news indeed, a huge loss to all that knew her

Im so glad she got home, but if only it could have been for much, much longer.

Rest in peace dear, kind, thoughtful 'fizzybangs'

  3. It makes me shudder too!

But the way I see it, is if you have the 'bug' to emigrate, you need to do it yourself, to find out if its for you or not

It certainly was not for us, but having done it, we are so settled back in the UK and are no longer searching for something else, all we need is right here....At Home <3

  4. Hi caretucker! Nice to see you back on PIO. How is it being back home?

    Hello 'Harpodom'!

Its 'luvly jubbly' to be home <3 Thanks for asking :cute:

  5. Ahhh, yes, the good ol' stalker....(aka: those that need to get a flicking life!!)

Mmm, the reason I stopped posting on PIO if im honest

Appreciate all M2M help, she is a great MOD, but I really couldnt be bothered with it anymore, so stopped posting

Glad to see this section though, hope its helping those that need it the most :cute:

  7. Hi....Only just came back on PIO....So catching up with this old thread now! :GEEK:

Hi we are moving back to the UK end of jan next year! Did you move back to your old house? If not did you move to the same area? We have rented ours out but are wondering whether to move Tia new area? My children can't both get into their old school. They have said my daughter in year 3 may have a place but my son In reception would not!! Over here they went to different schools as there were very few schools which had kindy places! I'm z bit worried abt going back! No jobs no schools just hope we will be ok

We have moved to a new area, I think it is just easier for us to start a fresh new life (again!!) I think you need to ask yourself if you loved the place you moved from, would you be happy living there again?

The place we have re-located to is a place that we often visited & thought looked a lovely area, people are very friendly too, great old fashioned pubs, lovely restaurants & shopping centres (obvs depends what you like in an area)

Of course getting jobs & school places is always a worry, as its the un-known, but, from our own experience, I was able to take my pick of 3 schools for my son & my Hubby has got steady work coming in, whilst we are building up his business again, so all good for us

Wish you all the very best :cute:

I think you knew deep down before you even landed in Oz that the UK was the place you wanted to be, you were always asking ifs, buts and maybes questions at least you've scratched that itch. Some people are just home birds and not cut out for living away from the familiar, all the best with your return glad you've realised that the UK is where your meant to be.

    You exaggerate! :biglaugh::embarrassed::biglaugh:

  8. Hi Kelly

We are also home and have been for nearly 3 weeks now. So glad we are home after trying it and echo everything that you have said. Home is where the heart is and we now realise what we had here was not that bad after all. Agree with milly also about feeling half dead. Only drawback for us is our daughter is only home for another 3 weeks as she is returning to Oz hopefully only for a short while.

    Good luck

    Shane

Well, what a journey we have both been on!

Remember you from the 'WA where are you now thread'!

Glad you are also happy to be home ~ Fresh appreciation eyes are fantastic hey

Must be hard to think of waving your Daughter off, whats making her return, if you dont mind my asking? (feel free to PM me if you would prefer)

  9. Thought I would give those that are interested a little update...

We have been back in the UK for 6 months now, we are truly happy to be home

Settled back in great, Hubby has steady work & we are busy building his roofing business back up

We are really glad to have had our Australian 'adventure' it has taught us so much, most important of all, that what we have here in the UK is actually pretty good & we now appreciate it so much more... :cute:

  10. Hi there, I used to work for Emirates for 12 years and as on all flights it does depend on the crew. A good crew make a long flight much more bearable. I am also a mummy who has travelled quite considerably with our 10 month old on long haul flights, alone and with hubby. So much I started a blog www.flyingwithababy.com with loads of tips.

Qatar and Emirates both provide complimentary strollers for transit in Doha and Dubai. And Emirates also do for Australian and Dubai arrivals which makes it handy. I know in Dubai Emirates also have twin pushchairs which will make it easier for you as Dubai is a large airport, especially if travelling with 3 little ones. If you are transitting in Singapore, there are also good transit facilities with great play areas etc for kids.

A bonus with Qatar is the complimentary sky-nanny which is free in all classes, enabling you to rest a bit and have a sleep or watch a movie- but she may be busy if lots of kids. She is fully trained and qualified. Hope this helps, but check my blog for more info on bassinets, seats, airport facilities, baby milk/food etc. Happy travels and please let me know if I can help further.

Thank you so much, will have a look at your blog, just what I need right now...:cute:

  11. I think anyone who has moved back from Australia to the UK has a right to join this forum and post on MBTTUK. The experiences that they will have gone through are invaluable to those contemplating a move back.

Just like there are Brits in Australia who made the move many moves ago, but join the forum later on so they can give advice and share experiences with those who are in the process of moving out here. I didn't use or even know of the forum the first time I moved to Oz, I joined when I moved back to the UK the first time, because I wanted to know about shipping companies leaving Australia. I just needed simple advice, some facts and opinions from those who had been there done it. I have used the forum more as we planned and carried out our second move, but find now I can offer more advice to those thinking of coming, and going.

I think those moving to Australia should be aware of the difficulties they may face but they should spend 99% of their time reading other parts of the forum which may be more useful for them. And I think those people who have never lived in Australia or never wanted to leave Australia, should re-evaluate why they come onto this forum. People starting threads on here generally looking for helpful advice, reassurance and trying to figure out if what they're feeling has been felt by others. Being told they're an idiot for wanting to move back really doesn't help them.

And, most of the time they don't want to move back because they hate Australia. I've personally never met anyone who hates Australia as a whole. It's just that they know that the UK suits them better. Random strangers don't have the right to decide which country suits them better, only they do. One that very personal decision has been made, or contemplated, then all that is required is support and helpful advice.

    :notworthy: Great post
