  1. Check the going rate at other firms , bottom threshold on 457 is not a high wage , there is a simple way I think he just pays you as you are now on the 457 then deduct the amount after tax for the difference to the rate that he wants to pay while the other visa goes thro .

  2. I'm playing devils advocate when I was at school , 15,,16 lasses in my class were rooting older blokes in their teens 20,s , Nowt was said , not advocating owt but different eras , times , these lasses were consensual , I'm not saying its right but at the time Nowt was wrong , if its wrong now , it's a society thing not Criminal , I worked at 14 can I claim for child labour

  3. Or better still, use your manners. Waitrose offer a product range and quality which Australian supermarkets can only dream of. Not all of us are enthralled by mediocrity.

Well mediocrity I shall not use try out of the box dint use supermarkets , use farmers markets local shops

  4. We bought a terrace in Greaseboro , SY. Brill house 1800 front , stairs you need climbing gear to get up , 5 meters out of back door to pub , I'm welling up now lol, 200 mt to the dams and Wentworth Park with Wentworth Woodhouse stately home

  5. .....I like the duckworths house.........

......my ideal home would be a terraced with a long garden........!

Tink my house was a semi but a reet long thin garden , you came to shitterham in 2007 you could have have it lol

  6. We went through youi as we did our car insurance through them so got a discount for taking both. Is pretty cheap. They also asked us about the house, and if there were any big trees nearby! Like the others say its because if the house is more likely to be damaged the so are your contents.

Youii are exoensive . Building and contents came out double to most others

  7. No - if you were born before July 1960, you can access your super at age 55.

If you were born after June 1964, you can access your super at age 60.

People born in between the dates above can access their super at ages 56-59.

But you pay tax on it before 60

  8. Are there any visas you are able to get to do a job trial. I have been offered a sponsor but they are unwilling to go ahead unless I can do a trial. Any help would be appreciated thanks

How old are you only thing would be a whv , the form are willing to sponsor but are they savvy about visas , they must know you need a visa to work

  9. I also got a loan through NAB, on a 457. It took a bit of "ollto and fro'ing" to provide info and only reassurances, the key seemed to be it needs a human processing it rather than say an online automated tick the boxes type application.

All lending will only lend to the max of the visa and need a deposit , if not the interest will be higher

  10. WA you need a Australian compliance sticker and a label in the helmet , I was stopped by a cop , with my shoei helmet I got it from the US half price of these ribbin two hats , it didn't have a sticker but has the DOT standard . I argued but he let me off with a warning, he could have issued a fine or a not roadworthy yellow sticker on the bike so I would have to pay to get it checked over the pits

  11. Those with several kids should perhaps be of the mind if a 457 best suits their requirements. I question that if a temp visa(as the Irish family in WA Today, came on) of 457 goes with the moving of a whole family with5 kids to the other side of the o, is not being somewhat reckless all round.

Sensationalist stuff again , majority of 457 are Asian and they will pay it , look at the kids at Winthrop , a lot of Asian kids fees are 20 k a year . Hospitals are setting on 457 because they need staff and its the quickest route , they are fair with pr , but it isn't guaranteed . Barnetts a louse , be fun when he comes for penalties , watch the system shut down when the public sector Says NO

  12. Hi Jason

The first thing you need to concentrate on is getting the visa. There are lots of electricians threads on here and a fair few members that are sparkies. They should be able to help with anything specific to you for skills assessments.

With regard to mining, it is very hard to get in. Particularly at the moment as mining is suffering a significant downturn. Most electrical work is carried out during construction, but due to the downturn, there is not a lot of construction happening and the jobs that are out there are being chased by an increasing number of people. In producing mines, there is very limited scope for electricians with more domestic background. Most have significant experience in high voltage. You could have a look at ESS who are part of compass group who run a lot of the camps for mining companies.

With regard to coming in as a trainee miner, that is probably more difficult again. There are a lot of miners out of work looking for jobs and so very few trainees are being taken on. Also, as you mention money, how much do you think you would be paid? To some extent the famous high salaries are a bit mythical. Once qualified to drive a dump truck – the starting point for a trainee miner, then you might make $80-85k, though it is reducing at the moment. That is for 12 hour days, 7 days a week for a week, then 7 nights followed by 6 days off. Or in other words, an hourly rate slightly above what you earn in a bar.

Of course, with luck, the industry might be improving by the time you have a visa which may take 1-2 years.

Have a look at the threads as well regarding working and licensing for electricians. You cannot work as an electrician in Perth until licensed and I “think” this takes about 12-18 months. During which you can only work as a trade assistant.

Don't talk rubbish 80 to 85 k my mates a brickie who went driving diggers and then got employed by bhp , he wouldn't be working 12 hours for that money and buy private health insurance if he wasn't over the threshold . Earlswood lives again

  13. Thank you for the prompt reply verystormy.

I've been thinking about an oz move for sometime but never realised how many steps there are to get it all complete and finalised, I know you need a TRA assessment and you can complete one over here in England, which I've read up is about $1000, ill need that before I apply for the EOI application, I didn't realise the mining sector was on a downer to be fair, are trade assistant jobs hard to come by ? I've seen on here you need a few month experience as an assistant too before you could head to college in Oz for the A license. Can you get a trade assistant job with just a TRA assessment form do you know?

I'm just having trouble with on how's things will pan out once I'm out there and start looking for jobs, a place, etc...

    Thanks

    James Fletcher

There's a fair few more tickets you need mate , a few grands worth

  14. ok thanks guys. I might do as you say blossom and pay via Bpay as well on the day my rent is due and if it has been taken out twice I can just not pay the following month. I will keep an eye on my account to see if the money has come out. the rent is due on 5th sept, would they take the money out on 5th sept or are they likely to take it out the day before say 4th sept? I don't know why they make it so confusing. I would just pay manually Rupert but I work shifts and strange hours so I always forget what day it is never mind remembering the date lol :-) jess

If you pay by bpay on the day they will be probably on the phone , bpay can take two business days to clear

  15. Chinese are going there next year i believe, so must be something of value - even though the yanks have claimed dibs on the place?

They'll be after all the scrap
