<p>Hello, not sure when you posted this but I hope im not too late in replying to you. </p>

<p>Yes we went for a reccie to oz over christmas. We had two weeks but most of that was spent in Coogee, a suburb outside of sydney. We spent two full days exploring wollongong and what it had to offer. we hired a car for the day from our hotel. Unfortunately I can't remember how much that was..which does not help you guys much. I know there is a train line to wollongong from sydney but have not experienced it. I believe it is at least 1.5 hour trip. </p>

<p>I have been doing quite a bit of research on the internet about wollongong. If you google the wollongong tourism website and the shellharbour tourism website you should find lots of info there on everything for a reccie...ie. places to stay, visit, eat out etc etc..you can also google the wollongong and shellharbour council web pages. I found them helpful for general stuff like what beaches I can take my dogs to and what developments are going on in the area. </p>

<p>When we went around wollongong town there were loads of estate agents and outside their shops they had these free magazines which you can help yourself too. In it they had properties for sale and rent. I hope this is helpful somehow. When are you planning your recce??</p>
