  1. I have just had a quote from Crown for 11 standard sized boxes - $1,350 (not including insurance) I thought this was quite good, any thoughts?
  2. Here's another one that's bothering me. I have read that I need to inform the HM Revenue & Customs and also DWP before I arrive in the UK to let them know I am coming back and intend to look for work - anyone got any thought's on this. Sorry for all the questions but I am returning on my own and now that I am on the last leg I am finding it quite daunting
  3. sorry to keep posting questions but now my flight is booked (21st February) my head is full of questions like ; I have lived in Australia for just over 6 years, I returned to the UK every year - will I be entitled to free NHS treatment on my return? I am a 3 year survivor of breast cancer and will be needing reconstruction on my return, just worried they will say I am not entitled to it. Thank you everyone, more questions coming lol :biglaugh:
  4. Thank you for your advice, just had a bit of a panic - thinking that after a short while the UK might tell me to leave - phew. Kathy
  5. I am an Australian Citizen (and a UK citizen) and returning to the UK next year. Does anyone know if I have to inform any government/authorities or can I just leave? Kathy
  6. Hi everyone - I wondered if someone could help me out, I have now booked my flight home (February 2014) and Emirates took my Australia Passport details, I also hold a valid UK passport - have I done the right thing? Thanks to anyone who can help me. Kathy
  7. lol my response was in reply to someone telling me to forget about England, one day I will get the hang of this website - thank you for your response.
  8. the 'why' is easy - I need my family.
  9. I really know how you feel right now. I have been here just over 6 years and have always regretted my decision. For all of these years I have asked my husband to take me home, to no avail, consequently the marriage has gone to the point of no return. I was also diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago and I have made the decision to return to the UK to spend my time with my children and grandchildren, something I am so excited about. I can't imagine for one minute it is going to be easy but I know in my heart this is the right decision for me. I wish you every success with whatever decision you decide to make.
  10. oh my goodness, thank you so much for this information. I will be living with my son until I get settled, do you know whether a bank would accept this. I am a three year breast cancer survivor but I need to take medication for the next 5 years, which I pay for. I would certainly be interested in the items you mentioned. Thank you again xx. How do I PM you to discuss further?
  11. ok, it seems that there is no advantage in keeping my money here in Australia does anyone know how I go about opening a bank account in the UK.
  12. Not sure how to address the problem of still having a husband in Australia, I can support myself financially for a couple of years but I am really hoping to get a job so I don't have to eat into my savings - good news about registering with a GP, at least I get something lol - oh my goodness its stressful .
  13. No my husband will not be financially helping me out, so 56 and on my own, I can do this (I think) I have lots of support and a huge family. Thank you everyone so much, I really appreciate the support.
  14. I was one third through a degree course when I decided to move back to the UK (just received a diploma in applied social science) I have been told this won't be recognised by the open university in the UK, so would have to start again.
  15. I am a mature aged student, I have been studying to become a counselor and hold a diploma in applied social science and wanted to carry on my studies when I return to the UK, preferably with an open university, are you saying I will have to wait three years until I can do this?
  16. I too live on the Goldcoast and as beautiful as it is I still can't call it home. I now have 6 grandchildren and not watching them grow up has been too much for me to bear. I miss my daughter's company and my son's sarcastic sense of humour, Christmas mornings, crisp days and autumn days and the goodbyes have got worse for us all has time has gone on, throw into the mix that I am now a 3 year survivor of breast cancer I have decided to return home. I wish you the greatest of luck.
  17. Hi everyone, I wondered if anyone can give me as much advice as possible. I have lived in Australia for the past 6 years, unfortunately, 3 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and having now almost finished my treatment I have decided to go back to the UK to be with my family. My husband will not be coming with me. Initially I will be living with my son, financially I cannot afford to buy anything again but have enough to get me started in rental and to buy furniture etc. My question is: will I be entitled to any financial assistance from the government (social etc) and if so how long do I have to wait to receive anything? I also need advice as to opening bank accounts for myself. I will be looking for work shortly after arriving back in the UK. I have so many questions but can't think of any of them at the moment. :arghh: Thank you all for any help you can provide.
