  1. Oh no!, no jail time!. I was drunk and just did something silly, no violence of fighting or anything like that. I was just handed a $100 fine and told to leave the area for 24hours ( I think it's a barring notice!!?? ) and I did I went straight home, and paid the fine when it arrived in the post, and never heard any more about it until yesterday.

Dave, as you indicated above that you have a migration agent, I think the best course of action is to discuss this with him. From the looks of it, you already have done so, so you're on the right track. Just give your agent all the information you've posted here, plus the documents you received back then (if you still have them).

    Regards

    Peter

  2. Thanks Raul. I understand the rules keep changing , however based on current assessment I needed to know the above.

Maybe it's time to consider getting proper professional advice from a migration agent who deals with such technical matters?

  3. Just wondering if anyone would recommend Go Matilda?

I don't think you can go wrong with GM :)

(I'm not getting a commission for saying this, and neither am I associated with them, but I do know Alan from a long time ago)

  4. ...Are you eligible for a working holiday visa? Skilled migrant visa? ...

Not trying to selectively snipe at Bungo's valid response, but you should note that a working holiday visa cannot be applied for when the applicant (who does not already hold a working holiday visa) is in Australia.

Also, a skilled migrant visa (e.g. 189) will probably take a lot longer than the potential visa cancellation notification's grace period.

  5. ... Two rejections will not necessarily mean a third rejection, but it depends why it was rejected. ...

I would second Bungo's comment. Much will of course depend on the exact circumstances of the situation, which doesn't seem to be entirely clear as pointed out by Bungo.

  6. Hi Raymund

I don't think VEVO will show your history of entries into and departure from Australia. VEVO will generally show your visa details including visa conditions.

If you have entered Australia personally using your 189 visa before the initial entry date (7/10/2015) then your 189 visa will be valid until the "must not arrive after" date.

  7. Hi Bang

I guess much will depend on your actual personal situation :)

You might want to consult a registered migration agent for professional assistance if you are unsure about your points score. It's quite hard for anyone to give you any realistic opinion based on your one-liner :)

    Cheers

    Peter

  8. I was graduated in 2011 from an Australian University and since then I worked 1.8 years as a professional.

I'm about to submit my EOI for 189 visa and I'm claiming for 5 points for Australian work experience.

As Westly has suggested, it is probably advisable to seek professional advice, as your facts here are incomplete for any proper advice anyway.

  9. Have now had an email from the case officer in the UK requesting certain documents that we have already submitted and that I book the medical. Is this a standard letter that goes out?

    Hi QuakerBaker,

Best if you checked with your migration lawyer about the request for seemingly already-provided documents. Your migration lawyer should be able to advise further, as he or she is in the best position to do so.

  10. Hi, question from my Aussie stat dec provider....

The Aussie birth and marriage certs already say printed on them

"I certify that this is a true copy of an extract from the register...." And signed by the registrar general.

She has scanned and sent to me so i can upload it as is.

Or does she need to get someone to write on it " I certify.....etc etc" then scan that and I upload that copy??

Seems daft but I want to get it right!

Certified true copy in most cases means:

    1) photocopy the original document;

    2) take the photocopy and original to a JP (or equivalent authorised person);

    3) the JP will certify the photocopy as a true copy;

The photocopy then becomes a "certified true copy".

A certified extract from the register is not a "certified true copy" in this context.

  11. One of my friend has a Masters degree in Bioinformatics, when I look for it in the SOL, cannot find any exact match. The closest I see is Biomedical Engineer. However, she does not have an "Engineering" degree, but has "Masters of Science" in Bioinformatics. Is she still eligible?

    Hi Josh

There's no way anyone here will be able to conclude whether she is eligible or not, based on the title of her awards (degrees).

If your friend is serious about migrating, it may be time for her to contact a registered migration agent who has expertise in the area which she is qualified in. As you can see, there is no easy visual match in her case...

  12. ...are you prepared to lose the VACs totalling $7,040...

    Hi Alan

It's been a while, and I hope you are well.

You forgot to mention the unavoidable credit card surcharge :) Thankfully the Australian dollar is sinking to fresh lows every day, so that should work in favour of British applicants...

  13. My question is what should be the process to answer them? What sort of document should I include to support my answer?

Being dual qualified (in engineering and law), I agree that civil engineering is a diverse segment, but there are limits to the flexible interpretation of what constitutes civil engineering :)

As others before me have suggested, it may be time to get proper (dare I say paid) advice from a registered migration agent. But ultimately the facts are the facts.

    Peter

  14. Hi Joeldee

As your 186 visa has already been granted, no further secondary applicants can be included.

Your girlfriend will need to explore other avenues like a potential partner/spouse visa application, with you as the sponsor.

Much will depend on your exact circumstances and it may be worthwhile for you to talk to a registered migration agent near you.

    Regards

    Peter

  15. BTW, just visited your website. Do you provide CDR writing services from verbal descriptions of projects done? I know a guy who will easily qualify for offshore migration but is just too lazy to write CDRs.

The CDR applicant must be the author of the CDR.

I do not provide services that are unlawful, if that's what you are asking :)

  16. Ive already lived in sydney for a year on a working holiday visa (Im English), and Im looking at applying for a skilled visa (Solicitor).

    Hi MikeJ

Probably best to speak to a migration agent who has experience assisting solicitors and barristers apply for skilled visas. There is more than meets the eye when it comes to legal professionals wishing to migrate.

    Peter

  17. Hi Everyone,

I'm in the process of applying for a partner visa. I live in the UK and have been married for 9 years. My partner is an Australian PR.

To be really frank, the Australian Immigration Service has left me really confused. The Australian High Commission in London Website, states that you should apply using paper copies/ via post.

    Belsh,

I'd go for the online application if you are ok with paperless "paperwork" (how ironic).

In terms of your brief facts, I'm curious to note that you have been married for 9 years and your partner is an Australian permanent resident - this is an interesting set of facts.

A lot of my clients tell me that they find the Department of Immigration "helpline" rather unhelpful, as they can only give general advice at best.

    Regards

    Peter

  18. Hi guys, I would really appreciate your help and advice on my job duties with the hope of applying for (261312 Developer Programmer) as I know there is a lot of demand for this occupation. I am going to try to get my skills assessed by ACS by myself as have read some stories about how expensive Migration Agents can be etc....

    Good luck Chris.

Migration agents aren't all expensive :-) A good migration agent can save you heaps in the long run.

    Regards

    Peter
