  1. There is no requirement to exchange your driving licence to a QLD driver licence if you are on a temp visa. However you still can if you wish.

The three month time limit only applies to someone who becomes a permanent resident. You have three months to change it to a QLD licence otherwise you are deemed unlicensed.

Regarding the OP. His WA driver licence is no longer current as it would have been replaced with the UK driver licence (you can only have one driver licence). My advice would be to exchange it for a QLD drive licence as soon as he/she arrives as the three month rule won't apply as he/she is already a citizen.

    Hope that makes sense.

  3. Hi guys

Hope you can help me ? We have been in oz for 6 months now and my in laws are making noises about coming over on a cpv. They pass the family test as my wife's brother died 7 years ago and she is the only sibling left. We should be able to show we are settled as my wife us a nurse and I am 6 weeks off from being sworn in as a cop.

So am I right in saying that if they came over on a 12 month visa and then applied for the cpv, they could get a bridging visa till it was granted?

If they applied for the non cpv ( I know the visa would not be granted for years) but would they be allowed to stay till it was granted?

My in laws are 68 and 73.

    Hope some one can help.

  4. Hi John,

Still sitting in the queue with a CO not likely until December 2010.

Still as the £ is :Randy-git: then it gives it time to recover a bit.

How is/was your trip to Brisbane? Understand it's getting cool out there weather wise.

How did the :policeman: look to you?

Brisbane was good. I found it just right temperature wise. I will hear from the police with a yes or no next week.

  6. hi

My wife Lisa sat her IELTS test yesterday and hopefully she has passed and being positive, I have downloaded the QLD nursing reg forms. Am I correct in saying that once we receive her result I can ask the ANMC to forward all the docs I sent them and then just send off the QLD nursing form with the fee?

  8. Hi all

    I have a question:

I am getting the paperwork together so that we can go to a solicitor next week to certify. The paperwork required for the QLD nursing council is the same as the paperwork required for the ANMC. So am I right in saying that once my wife has the ANMC statement of declaration,we just tell them to forward everything to QLD nursing council and then just send QLD the application form and fee?

  9. Spending the afternoon starting the long process to get to oz. I am filling in the forms for the ANMC. First hurdle:

It states "Employment statement/s stating dates of employment

for the past five (5) years. You will need to provide

evidence of recency of practise of at least 3

months (full time equivalent) within the last 5 years. If

your dates of employment are not on your professional

reference and/or you have worked for different

employers within the last 5 years, you will need to

provide a statement that details the dates of employment

as a registered nurse or midwife. This statement

usually comes from Human Resources or Payroll

at your organisation. We do not need information

on your enrolled nursing or rates of pay".

Am I right in saying that as long as my wife's manager says that she started "this date" and has been practising for at least 3 months, she wont need to go to HR to confirm this?

  10. My questions are:

How long does the ANMC registration last for?

Also if my wife applies for QLDNMC straight after but we dont plan to get to oz till the end of next year, can we just reapply next year or are we better of waiting till just before we go?

    Hope that makes sense!

  11. Did you know, there’ going to be a new single National Registration and Accreditation Scheme - for all of the nine healthprofessions: medical practitioners; nurses and midwives; pharmacists; physiotherapists; psychologists; osteopaths; chiropractors; optometrists; and dentists (including dental hygienists, dental prosthetists and dental therapists. To be establish (by July 2010). A national scheme will permit registered nurses and other health professionals to practice across state and territory borders in Australia without having to re-register. That should make things a lot easier.

Also I e mailed ANMC a few weeks ago and they said that they are bringing the IELTS as a requirement to applying. They hope to have it in place by july 2010.
