  1. Good day to all, I am glad to see many of us Mariners are getting jobs in Australia after acquiring PR Visa, sooner or later. It has taken a while for me since, I got my PR Visa in 2015. But still awaiting for my first maritime job in Australia. To add more, I had to move back to India in 2016 after loosing financial security. And now working in Indian offshore till date since I came back to India. I am requesting the seniors to guide me in getting a job in offshore DP vessel ( I have Full DP license & Master's unlimited License). My plan is to come back to Australia again to start my child's school in 2020. I need a more specific direction to get job in Australia, or else its difficult to keep the PR visa valid & to achieve the long term goal of securing child's future. Sincerely.
  2. This is really good news.I have been working outside Australia for 1 year. I will plan to return back in Australia this year. Cheers.
  3. Hi baggi, I was in Perth for 7 months in 2016. Because of job scarcity I had to move back in September 2016 to my previous job outside OZ. I plan to get back in Oz later and keep my PR visa valid. What are your plans? Regards..
  4. Hi all, Its a very disturbing situation in Australia. No jobs for seafarers at the moment. I'm returning back to my previous employer overseas, because there's no option and I'm running out of my funds. Probably all will be well in the future, but now its a worse situation here. All the best to all.
  5. Hi, please read the previous messages. They answer most of the general questions. EOI reply will come within 60days. Later another 3 months for Visa grant , all going well.
  6. I heard that Ship's Master will be removed from the Skilled occupation list. This news was given to me by a Captain working in Melbourne. So friends, find out and apply as early as possible.
  7. As Capt. R mentioned, its absolutely true about Oil and gas Offshore. I'm here in Perth/ Fremantle and without job past one month. It's very quiet. Difficult to predict when this situation will change. I'm myself thinking of going in Mainfleet back for sometime. But this too isn't easy.Getting PR Visa was one thing and finding a job and rising up in Australia is another story.Im sure sooner or later something good will happen, but as of now its very frustrating. Sorry to say this, but its a fact.
  8. Hi Capt. C, I have received STCW2010 ticket for Master's and GMDSS today. It is valid valid for 5 years now.
  9. I contacted AMSA on quals@amsa.gov.au They first told me to forward scanned copy of PR Visa. Then later told me to forward pending Documents by post or Courier. I think they are going to provide me with upgraded COR's without charging me again.Nor did they ask me to fill form 419 again. I have couriered the pending Documents today.
  10. OK. I will check it out and keep you informed. Actually, I had paid the fees for Master's COR and GMDSS COR before oral examinations. But, now since I have upgraded my licenses to STCW2010, let's see what AMSA does about this. Meanwhile , I am still searching for job. I am sure to find it soon once I land in Perth in this December.
  11. Hi Captain C, I just got my GMDSS License revalidated until 2020. Similarly, Master's License will be validated on Monday until 2020. Is it OK if I forward following scanned documents to AMSA by email in order to get Master's COR and GMDSS COR : 1. Master's COC 2. GMDSS COC 3. Continued Competence courses 4. AMSA Medical fitness Certificate 5. Visa grant letter 6. Identification document (Passport pages) 7.AMSA assessment letter that mentions about passing oral exams. 8. Notification of exam results 9. Payment receipt 10. Cover letter mentioning documents attached.
