  1. Hi everyone, I am a permanent resident here in Aus. My parents have been out on a normal tourist visa a couple of times to visit. In January 2016, they want to come and stay for over 3 months, probably 6 ish months. i have looked on DIBP website and it talks about 6 and 12 month visas. my questions are: can they apply now for travelling here in Jan 2016? do they have to have health check? do they have to have health insurance? do they have to have proof of being able to support themselvrs? i could see this on the their info on the website, where they are talking about an extended stay - are the 6 & 12 months visas classed as extended stay? Is there anything else they have to do? has anyone used this or know of people applying for this visa before? Were there any difficulties? my parents will be 67 and 70 when they arrive, in good health and retired. thanks in advance sarah x
  2. Hi guys, thanks for your help. ive just been chatting to a friend who said that the container is one quote but the customs taxes/fees are on top and can be thousands.... Is this true? If I've been quoted about. $3000 (with chess), how much may customs cost? thanks sarah
  3. Hiya FTA, I think I'm right about waiting 18 months to be eligible as I will have lived here four years in December 2016 and that will be me having 12months with PR too? if I have lived in Australia for 2 years total even if it's not all at once, I will be able to get an RRV post 2019? Or do I have to be back in the country before August 2019? thanks for your advice
  4. Hi all, I am a permanent resident (granted August 2014) and am planning to move back to UK in the next 12 months with my Aussie partner ( who has dual citizenship). Now I miss out on being able to apply for citizenship as I'm not planning on being here when I can apply (Dec 2016). My perm resident visa states I can travel freely until August 2019. if I came back just before then, do people know how long i can travel/ leave the country for post aus 2019? also if I didn't come back until say 2020 or longer, Can I apply for a resident return visa with substantial ties as partner is Australian? .... and what are my options then? I am reading it as I'm still a permanent resident but there are restrictions/ time limits on travel? If I come back in a few years time, I am presuming I'll be staying for the long haul but want to still be able to go home to visit etc would my waiting for 4 years to be able to apply for citizenship start from the beginning again? thanks in advance! sarah
  5. Hi, We are looking to go back to UK about May 2016 ish (no set date we have to go). We have only just made the decision and as I'm over anxious im wanting to know what I can sort now and what can be done nearer the time. we are wanting to use probably just half a container -well this is another question, prob 10 -15 boxes and a queen bed some drawers and perhaps the sofa. I've been reading on here a variety of costs but don't really want to get an official quote as not sure how much we need yet. Any advice? and any advice on when this needs to be sorted by? any other advice or suggestions are welcome too, I came with just a suitcase on a working holiday visa and am going back with more than that!! X
  6. Hiya, I am in a similar position to you. I can apply for my citizenship Dec 16 but do have an Aussie partner. I've now convinced him to move to UK as he's over living in Perth and likes the UK (!). ive been here two and a half years and have been home twice and going home twice this year.... i don't want to keep putting things off and when someone on the thread mentioned you still have to wait another 6 months before you even get it, I don't want to feel I'm wasting my life in this limbo -like u said- rather than just getting on with life. You are closer than I am but I don't think I'm going to stay on for it. X
