Rolo82
About to go to Australia on my WHV and it says that a minimum of $5000 is required before entering Australia. Will the amount I have be checked as we go through immigration? Thanks.
ghostgirl
Hi, I wasn't checked. I had about $4,000, I think the $5k is a recommendation for your own benefit and for a plane ticket home if it doesn't work out. I'm lucky enough to have parents who would pay for my flight home immediately if needed so I wasn't too worried about not having enough. But people really aren't lying when they say its pricey here! I'd recommend leaving the party times until after you get a job, then you won't have to worry x
Rolo82
Ok, thanks. Got $2500 about to be put into an Aus bank account before we go but was going to keep the rest of the money in the UK and transfer it over when needed. Just wondering if they would check as we went through customs. Won't be partying too much until a job is sorted! Thanks for you reply. peter bull
Hi Rolo Just take a statement from the UK bank with you just incase so you can prove you do have more cash if required, and enjoy the adventure Pete
Rolo82
Yeah, good idea Pete. Probably just worrying about nothing! Thanks.
ghostgirl
Good idea to keep some in a UK bank, that's what I did too. My visa company do free transfers so that is pretty awesome. I brought a bank statement with me just in case too.
