Qball
Hi there, I applied for Citizenship from Victoria in October 2021. At the moment I'm considering to move to WA for work reasons, and it would be very good to take advantage of the shorter processing times for application. However, I couldn't get any answers about how moving and changing address to a different state affects the application. Does changing my address automatically "move me" to the WA queue? OR Will my application only be processed (and then moved to WA) when my place in queue arrives in Victoria? (15 months after application to get an interview date at the moment) An immigration agent I asked didn't know the answer either, and just suggested I potentially fill a form 1022 (change of details) so that it may trigger something (a case agent has to look at those forms) and move my case. I could always cancel my old citizenship request and re-apply in WA, but that seems extreme (and costly). So I'm asking here - have you had an experience of moving to a different state (especially from Victoria during these crazy covid times) and have you gotten the date to an interview earlier as a result? It would really help to know, and may even affect my decision to move or not.
kevinfearsatan
I applied in September 2021 Townsville QLD, since then I’ve moved to WA for work but just kept my address the same, didn’t want to change it mid application, figured I’ll mention it when my application is processed and see if I can change my test location or just fly back to Townsville for it. I work contracts so still consider Townsville my permanent address mind you. But couldn’t find much information about changing during your application. Hope for short processing times for you as well. QLD not as heavily affected as VIC either way
