Partner visa subclass 309

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Just wondered if I could get some advice. I have applied and have been granted Australian citizenship. I want to apply for the partner visa for my partner. Do you think it would be worth applying for my Australian passport before I proceed with this application. I have booked an appointment for the passport interview, the earliest appointment they had was on the 13th of February.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the response. Yes I'm the sponsor. I just wondered if not holding a Australian passport would cause delay in the application or cause any issues as I just currently have the citizenship certificate.

Is the visa being applied for in Aus or overseas? You say 309 but appear to be in Aus as you've just become a citizen.

IIRC somewhere on the partner visa application form it will ask for the sponsor's Aus passport details.

Read the checklist for what they expect to be included.

I'd not take chances and include it either way.

Hi, we applied for our partner visa wirh PR status and my partner became in the middle of the process also an Australian citizen. I had similar concerns and contacted the Australian Migration Agent Association. They confirmed that there is no reason to worry, all good!

Good Luck

Frank
