Major Tom
Hi, i have a few items that are rusty, one Chopper Bike that I'm restoring, a few old metal tool trunks, and old Snap-on Tool Box and a few tools. I have had mixed messages from shipping agent rep, some say consentrate on dirt and rust should be fine, some are saying don't even bother sending it!! What's your thoughts, have you been pulled by customs on extra cleaning of rusty items, not that they would clean like soil residue items anyway?! Cheers MT
Guest
Our shippers said rust was fine and we had no bother with customs but it's the luck of the draw whether your consignment is inspected.
JonnoM
I imagine that if a quarantine inspector finds rusty stuff then they are more inclined to look for other "dirty" stuff in your shipping that my contain soil residue. If they first things that they inspect are pristine (and smelling of disinfectant!) they would probably assume that everything else is similarly clean. I don't have any evidence to back this up, but that is how I would think if I was in their position!
