Camerilla
Hello, Just wondering if there is any difference between the different banks that you can choose from in Australia if you are on a WHV? Are there any advanced or disadvantages of some banks? Thanks a lot!
Ozmaniac
There's not much difference between banks but you should shop around and even within a given bank, make sure you choose the account with the best combination of fees and allowed transactions. The Commonwealth Bank (CBA) has the most ATMs which is useful for a backpacker, but any of the major banks will have ATMs all over the place. NAB and some of the very small banks are part of the RediATM network which has around the same number of ATMs as the Commonwealth and they're located in more out of the way places which could be handy when you're off the beaten track. Make sure you ask how much it will cost you for a withdrawal from a 'foreign' ATM - some will charge $2 (or more) for each transaction at an ATM not belonging to that bank. http://www.rediatm.com.au/press-release-
MattD
I've set up my bank account with NAB. They were really efficient and had sent over all my documentation and online banking stuff within a matter of days!
